Abstract: A security architecture, a battery, and a motor vehicle that has a corresponding battery are configured to be used to combine battery packs of a lower security integrity level into a battery system that has a higher security integrity level. The security architecture is for at least two batteries and each battery includes at least one electrochemical cell. The at least two batteries are each combined with at least one data processing unit to form a respective module. The security architecture is configured such that input signals of at least one second module are processed by the at least one data processing unit of at least one first module.

Abstract: The preset invention relates to a system for controlling sounds and images through three-dimensional matrix circuit, which outputs voice and sound signals outputted from a sound generator and amplified by a plurality of amplifiers through a plurality of speakers. The system includes a matrix circuit and a controller. The matrix circuit is configured in a three-dimensional type such that the amplifiers and the speakers to which the voice and sound signals outputted from the sound generator are delivered are connected to each other, changing and adding input/output according to a user's selection. The controller controls various kinds of operations of the speakers and the amplifiers by allowing a user to control the matrix circuit by a multicast method so as to select amplifiers or a combination thereof to be used for broadcasting using a keyboard or a mouse.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate generally to ex vivo methods of quantifying expression of leukocyte-function associated mRNAs and using the quantification to characterize an individual's potential responsiveness to cancer immunotherapy. Certain embodiments relate to methods to monitor the efficacy of ongoing cancer immunotherapy by evaluating expression of leukocyte-function associated mRNAs genes before and administration of an anti-cancer immunotherapy regimen.

Abstract: A cell unit of a mixed reactant fuel cell comprises a multiphase mixed reactant fluid distributor, an anode and cathode in fluid and electronic communication with the distributor, and a separator positioned relative to one of the anode and the cathode to provide electronic insulation and ionic communication between the cell unit and another adjacent cell unit. The distributor is electronically conductive and the reactant fluid which flows through the distributor has fuel and oxidant each in separate fluid phases, wherein at least one of the fuel and oxidant fluid phases is a liquid.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a portico for saddle-shaped tents. The portico includes a drape that is suspended from the saddle-frame of the saddle-shaped tent. The portico also includes a portico-frame that has a horizontal beam, which beam is attached to the lower edge of the drape. The portico-frame may also include posts. In one embodiment of the invention, the portico acts as a joiner to join two adjacent saddle-shaped tents. The invention includes tents and compound tent-structures that incorporate the portico.

Abstract: The present invention relates to horizontal frame tensile structures (“HFTS”) of the kind employing corner elements to interconnect beams and posts. The corner elements of the invention comprise 1) two arms that engage the ends of adjacent beams, and 2) a leg that engages the top of a post. The arms are splayed so as to produce canted corner angles. Optionally, or additionally, the leg angle of the corner element is canted. Canting the corner angle and/or the leg angle causes the beams to bow upwards and/or outwards, thereby effectively increasing the angle in the horizontal plane between adjacent beams. This bow in the beams is reduced or eliminated when the membrane is attached to the frame, thereby providing straight beams and an aesthetically pleasing profile and introducing beneficial increased tension into the frame.

Abstract: A reactor is provided for converting organic material to charcoal, with the reactor having a furnace and a retort extending through the furnace. The retort has an auger extending therethrough, with the auger having a flight with gaps therein. Members project inwardly from the walls of the retort at the gaps in the flight to unplug blockages in the retort. A gas collection system is provided which has a branched portion having two or more venting tubes, each with valves so that each may be shut off independently to allow to off-line cleaning without requiring shutdown of the system. A method for converting organic material may be practised by introducing combustible materials into the reactor.

The method includes applying a glass fit material onto a transfer substrate to form a coated substrate, exposing the coated substrate to a temperature above the melting temperature of the glass frit material to form a glass layer on the transfer substrate, laminating the glass layer film and a polymer substrate and removing the transfer substrate from the glass layer to form a glass-polymer laminate.

Abstract: A disinfectant cap for sterile liquid dispensers is disclosed. The cap includes a biocide-containing reservoir separated from the hollow interior of the cap by a rigid partition having an aperture therein for receiving the outlet port of the dispensing end of the dispenser, the cap being configured such that when in a closed configuration, the outlet port of the dispensing end extends through the aperture into the biocide-containing reservoir and the rigid partition is configured such that when the cap is removed from the dispensing end the biocide is retained in the reservoir. This may be achieved by selecting the size of the aperture such that when the cap is removed from the dispensing end the biocide is retained in the reservoir by surface tension. Or the partition may be provided with a hinged flap which seals the aperture when the cap is removed from the dispensing end and which is moved away from the aperture when the outlet port extends through the aperture.
