  • Patent number: 7304486
Abstract: The multi-point probe comprises a supporting body defining a first surface, a first multitude of conductive probe arms each of the probe arms defining a proximal end and a distal end being positioned in co-planar relationship with the first surface of the supporting body. The probe arms are connected to the supporting body at the proximal ends thereof and have the distal ends freely extending from the supporting body, giving individually flexible motion to the first multitude of probe arms. The probe arms originate from a process of producing the probe arms on a wafer body in facial contact with the wafer body and removal of a part of the wafer body providing the supporting body and providing the probe arms freely extending therefrom. The multi-point probe further comprises a third multitude of tip elements extending from the distal end of the first multitude of probe arms. The tip elements originate from a process of metallization of electron beam depositions on the probe arms at the distal ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 7303912
Abstract: Cultures of cells immunoreactive for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), as well as for the intermediate filament marker nestin were grown in a medium including epidermal growth factor (EGF) and serum. The cultured cells had the morphology of astroglial cells. The cells can be proliferated in adherent or suspension cultures. Depending on the culture conditions, the cells can be induced to differentiate to neurons or glial cells. The cultures can be expanded over a large number of passages during several months, and survive, express an astroglial phenotype and integrate well after transplantation into both neonatal and adult rat forebrain.

  • Publication number: 20070272022
Abstract: For determining a subjective property such as loudness of a binaural sound signal left and right sound pressures in the left and right ears of a human being, resulting from the binaural sound signal, are determined. The left and right ear and right sound pressures are frequency analyzed to obtain left and right frequency spectra. In each frequency band, the diotic (common) sound pressure in the left and right ears is determined, which would result from a plane wave frontal incidence on the human being, and that would produce the same perceived loudness as the frequency bandwidth limited left and right sound pressures. In each frequency band the inverse frontal headrelated transfer functions are used to determine the free-field sound pressure that would produce the same perceived loudness as the diotic sound pressure. The loudness is determined as the loudness of the totality of frequency bandwidth limited free field sound pressures, preferably using the international standard ISO 532.

  • Publication number: 20070275074
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a particulate material by a controlled agglomeration method, i.e. a method that enables a controlled growth in particle size. The method is especially suitable for use in the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions containing a therapeutically and/or prophylactically active substance which has a relatively low aqueous solubility and/or which is subject to chemical decomposition. The process comprising i) spraying a first composition comprising a carrier, which has a melting point of about 5° C. or more which is present in the first composition in liquid form, on a second composition comprising a material in solid form, the second composition having a temperature of at the most a temperature corresponding to the melting point of the carrier and/or the carrier composition and ii) mixing or others means of mechanical working the second composition onto which the first composition is sprayed to obtain the particulate material.

  • Patent number: 7301592
Abstract: A liquid crystal display has a backlight unit for providing substantially unpolarized illumination, a rear polarizer proximate the backlight unit for receiving the incident substantially unpolarized illumination and transmitting substantially polarized illumination. A liquid crystal spatial light modulator forms a modulated beam by selective, pixel-wise modulation of the polarization of the substantially polarized illumination. A color filter array transmits selected wavelengths of the modulated beam from the LC spatial light modulator. A front polarizer has a transmission axis for transmitting the portion of the modulated beam having polarization in alignment with the transmission axis. A reflective polarizing element is disposed between the liquid crystal spatial light modulator and the front polarizer for reflecting a portion of dark state light back toward the backlight unit.
