Abstract: A programmable hearing aid including means for receiving and transmitting data wirelessly from and to a portable module being in proximity to said hearing aid. Said portable module has means for transmitting audio signals, fitting data or special instructions to the hearing aid processor and including means for receiving data transmitted from said hearing aid, including data representing a monitoring of real-time signal processing parameters in the hearing aid. A preferred embodiment of the hearing aid/portable module combination utilizes Miller-coded direct sequence spread-spectrum radio signal transmitters and receivers for transmitting and receiving data between the heading aid and the portable module. This enables remote controlling or monitoring of, transmitting audio to, or programming of a hearing aid without the need for external connectors.

Abstract: The invention relates to methods of handling wind turbine blades and mounting said blades on a wind turbine, said method comprising the steps of lifting a wind turbine hub to the nacelle of wind turbine with a lifting system and mounting the hub on the nacelle. Further, the method comprises the steps of gripping at least one wind turbine blade with a lifting system including at least one gripping unit for handling wind turbine blades, lifting said at least one wind turbine blade into close proximity to said hub, and mounting said at least one wind turbine blade on said hub. The invention also relates to a gripping unit for handling a wind turbine blade during transport.

Abstract: The use of substituted pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines for modulating the activity of 11?-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11?HSD1) and the use of these compounds as pharmaceutical compositions are described. Also a novel class of substituted pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines their use in therapy, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compounds, as well as their use in the manufacture of medicaments are described The present compounds are modulators and more specifically inhibitors of the activity of 11?HSD1 and may be useful in the treatment, prevention and/or prophylaxis of a range of medical disorders where a decreased intracellular concentration of active glucocorticoid is desirable.

Abstract: An apparatus for illumination having a housing suited for in ground use, which contains at least one lamp which is surrounded by a reflector, has a light changer, and a controller for controlling at least the lamp and the light changing means. To reduce the content of moisture air containing evaporated water is able to be released from the lamp to the surroundings and only air without moisture is allowed to enter the in-ground lamp. This can be achieved with a housing with an outer casing which has at least one diaphragm covering at least one downwardly directed opening which is open towards the surrounding environment, the diaphragm being permeable for moisture for transmission from the inside of the housing to the outside, but is water-tight inward from the outside. Even in a situation where the apparatus is completely overflowed, the diaphragm prevents water penetrating from the outside.

Abstract: A ball valve (10), in particular for controlling the amount of medium supplied to a heating or cooling system, is adapted such that the characteristic of the valve may be determined so that it may be adapted to its use in the heating or cooling system. The ball valve consists of a housing having a ball valve body (4) which is rotatable in two cups (3, 5) of a corresponding ball shape. An insert (7) is arranged at the discharge side of the housing, said insert having a concave ball face which corresponds to that of the ball valve, and which is provided with a slot or recess (10) which, together with the through bore of the ball, defines the outlet opening of the valve. A desired characteristic of the valve may be provided by imparting a suitable shape to the slot (10). The insert is fixed in a holder (6) in the valve housing by means of axially extending teeth (13) in the face of the housing which receives the insert.

Abstract: The invention relates to an actuating member comprising an elastomer body that is provided with one electrode each on opposite peripheries. The aim of the invention is to improve the dynamism of such an actuating member. To this end, at least one periphery is provided with at least one waved section that comprises elevations and depressions as the extremes disposed in parallel to the cross direction. Said section is covered by an electrode that completely covers at least a part of the extremes and that extends across the waved section.

Hereby, a satisfactory solution is provided making a side rail guided staircase lift suitable for running along a straight as well as a curved track in a stabile and smooth manner while also offering a comfortable and smooth ride in a dignifying way for the disabled persons using the lift.

Abstract: The invention provides an interconnect device for a fuel cell comprising an electrolyte, an anode and a cathode, the interconnect device comprising a channel system having a plurality of channels, each channel being closed in one end and having either an inlet side or an outlet side at the open end of the channel, each channel having an inlet side placed in alternating order with a channel having an outlet side, the inlet side of each channel placed in consecutive order on one side of the interconnect, and the outlet sides of each channel placed in consecutive order on the opposite side of the interconnect relative to the inlet side, and a second layer of channels is located on the surface of the channel system. The invention also provides a fuel cell and a fuel cell stack in which the interconnect device is used.

Abstract: Peptide sequences capable of binding to insulin and/or insulin-like growth factor receptors with either agonist or antagonist activity and identified from various peptide libraries are disclosed. This invention also identifies at least two different binding sites, which are present on insulin and insulin-like growth factor receptors, and which selectively bind the peptides of this invention. As agonists, certain of the peptides of this invention may be useful for development as therapeutics to supplement or replace endogenous peptide hormones. The antagonists may also be developed as therapeutics.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system comprising a waveguide laser for exciting laser light at a lasing wavelength ?s and a pump for pumping the waveguide laser at a pumping wavelength ?p. The invention further relates to a method of providing such a system and its use. The object of the present invention is to provide a system comprising a waveguide laser with a reduced phase noise. The problem is solved in that the pump is a single frequency laser. The invention may e.g. be used in systems where an ultra-low phase noise and/or linewidth is required, e.g. in LIDAR or interferometric systems.

The porous layer (5) is provided on the electrically conductive, catalytic layer (3), which is located at least partially within a second tube (6), made of a gas tight material. The oxygen sensor, which is part of a clamped together structure with O-rings, may be used in a method, in which the measuring gas, especially a reactive measuring gas, is supplied to the external side of the first tube (2).

Abstract: Use of more exotic laying patterns in connection with establishing paving stones of concrete blocks for e.g. paving on yards, are not widely used for cost reasons, as the automated laying machines laying the said paving stones in large surfaces at a time require the stones to be delivered in palletised formats which are handled by machine. The only way in which the said stereotype formats can be laid by machine is, if the paving stones are supplied manually, patterned layers on pallets. There is thus indicated a method for automatic sorting of paving stones (2) of different size from bulk condition to e.g. patterned laid palletisable layers in a standard out format, as the stones (2) after being guided into a row (3) are registered by size by a vision based system and guided into arraying lanes (34) from where these may selectively be dispensed in the preferred laying patterns in the said out formats (22).

Abstract: The inventors have developed a method of altering the amino acid sequence of a fungal alpha-amylase to obtain variants, and they have used the method to construct such variants. The variants may be useful for anti-staling in baked products. Accordingly, the invention provides a method of constructing fungal alpha-amylase variants based on a comparison of three-dimensional (3D) structures of the fungal alpha-amylase and a maltogenic alpha-amylase. One or both models includes a substrate. The invention also provides novel fungal alpha-amylase variants.
