The present invention has a wide spectrum of important applications including use in the treatment of disorders impacted by nociceptin and related opioid-like peptides.
Abstract: A digital hearing aid system includes a signal path with an input transducer, a signal processor and an output transducer, a part of the system being intended for delivering sound into an ear canal of a hearing aid user leaving the ear canal with an unobstructed cross-sectional area corresponding to a vent channel with a diameter of at least 3 mm or a total area of at least 7.07 mm2. The signal path is designed to have a signal delay less than 15 ms. The hearing aid signal path furthermore preferably includes means for providing an adaptive feedback compensation. The signal processor is adjusted to provide increased gain in low frequency areas.
Abstract: Certain 1,5-disubstituted benzimidazol-2-one compounds useful as therapeutic agents. The compounds may be of the Formula I wherein: R? represents hydrogen or alkyl; R? represents halogen or trihalogenmethyl; and Hlg represents halogen; provided, however, that if Hlg is F, then R? is not Cl. Also, use of the 1,5-disubstituted benzimidazol-2-one compounds, or pharmaceutically-acceptable addition salts thereof, in applications that benefit from increasing the blood-brain barrier permeability.

Abstract: A method welds together two layers within a multi-layer assembly Laser light is directed through an outer layer of the assembly that allows transmission of the laser light from its outer surface to at least within the vicinity of its inner surface substantially without any absorption of energy from the laser light, towards a layer including an absorbent component, corresponding to a portion thereof. The absorbent component is capable of absorbing laser light within a given wavelength range thereby creating a welded area between a surface of the layer having the absorbent component and the surface of a layer facing the layer having the absorbent component while other layers remain unwelded.

Abstract: A method for regulating the traction in a line (13) of a ladder climbing assistance device, in which method any movement of the line (13) is sensed and in dependence of the sensed movement either increasing the traction in the line to a predetermined high level (L1), maintaining the traction at a predetermined high level (L1), or decreasing the traction to a predetermined low level (L0). Furthermore, a ladder climbing assistance device comprising a line (13) that is movable along the ladder (1) and a motor (8) with a power outlet arranged to provide an essentially constant traction in the line (13). The ladder climbing assistance device comprises sensing means (25) for sensing any movement of the line (13), which sensing means is connected to controlling means (26) for controlling the power outlet from the motor (8) in response to signals from the sensing means in the above-described manner.
Abstract: Attaching a peptide extension to the C-terminal amino acid of a lipase reduces the tendency to form odor. This may lead to lipase variants with a reduced odor generation when washing textile soiled with fat which includes relatively short-chain fatty acyl groups (e.g., up to C8) such as dairy stains containing butter fat or tropical oils such as coconut oil or palm kernel oil.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for increasing the capacity and precision of a portion cutter wherein the items to be portion cut are positioned abutting each other. In particular are provided means for identifying a boundary between consecutive items to be cut when the items are placed on a conveyor abutting each other with little or no gab between the items. At least one characteristic is measured for each of the items, and at least one process parameter is controlled in order to achieve predetermined product portions from the items based on the measured characteristic.

Abstract: Method of testing a fuel injection valve 1 for a diesel engine by supplying pressurized oil to the inlet side of the valve. According to the invention the oil pressure is gradually recorded, the pressure increase being interrupted at the moment when the opening pressure of the valve is exceeded, which is noted by a drop in the pressure on the inlet side. At the same time the opening pressure is recorded. As a result a more lenient test method is provided, which also can be used in connection with newly developed injection valves.
