  • Patent number: 4494469
Abstract: A stepped grate for an incinerator plant consists of grate blocks (1) placed adjacent in rows, and placed in succession in the travelling direction of the refuse and garbage resting on parallel placed grate beams (9), where every second row of grate blocks (1) is adapted to make a reciprocating movement, whereas the intermediary rows of grate blocks are stationary. The movable and the stationary rows of grate blocks (1) are placed in staggered position in the travelling direction of the garbage at a distance corresponding to half the length of a grate block, the one type of rows being terminated with half grate blocks (8). Preferably, it is the stationary row that is terminated with half blocks (8). The displacement of the rows of grate blocks removes the danger of blocking the movable row of grate blocks caused by collision between the front edge of a grate block from the movable row and the rear edge of a grate block from the stationary row.

  • Patent number: 4494475
Abstract: Mooring systems for floating vessels positioned off-shore. A rigid column extends from the sea floor and provides a single-point mooring for a barge or other floating structure which includes facilities for storing oil or liquified gases. The barge may also include facilities for liquefying gases. A fluid line for oil or gas extends from below the water line inside the vertical column to the mooring point above the water line. A pair of mooring arms is pivotally attached to a table pivoted on the mooring point, and the arms diverge with their other ends attached to the barge at zones spaced from each other. The arms are extensible and each of them has a compensator which tends to hold each arm to a predetermined length. Each compensator also restrains the rate of movement during extension and contraction of its arm. A fluid-flow line extends from the mooring point to the barge with flexible interconnections between the fluid-flow lines above the water line.

  • Patent number: 4494070
Abstract: When receptacles (1) having a substantially cylindrical side wall and a welding seam extending in the direction of the axis are to be angulary positioned it is known to rotate the receptacle about the axis and detect the passage of the welding seam past a probe and thereafter stop the receptacle a predetermined number of degrees after the detection. Provided that the receptacle wall is of a ferromagnetic material and that there is a substantial material overlapping at the welding seam the detection can take place by means of a magnetic probe for measuring the material thickness. However this method can not be used if there is only a slide material overlapping at the welding seam. In this case the use of a magnetic probe (11) urged against the receptacle wall (1) by spring means is suggested.

  • Patent number: 4492040
Abstract: A fluid bed dryer comprises a pre-dryer of the back mixed type and a post-dryer of the plug flow-type. In the pre-dryer the main part of heat is transferred to the product being dried by means of heating panels arranged above the bed plate. A control bed is interposed between the pre-dryer and the post-dryer and includes one or more temperature sensors for sensing the temperature of the product in the control bed. Heat supply to the heating panels is controlled in response to the temperature sensed by the sensor or sensors in order to maintain the product temperature in the pre-dryer at the dew point and so as to ensure that the drying process proceeds within the region of constant drying rate, and that the product contains little or substantially no unbound moisture despite possible changes in product fed to the pre-dryer.

  • Patent number: 4489536
Abstract: From a row of objects which are conveyed on an intermittently movable feeding conveyor, every second object is deposited on lines of wrapping materials at a first station, which lines are advanced continuously under the feeding conveyor, and the remaining objects are deposited on the same lines of wrapping materials at a following station. In connection with one or both depositing steps. the objects are shifted transversely of the direction in which said lines are advanced. Thus, the number of lines of wrapping material is only half the number of objects in each row, whereas the distance between the lines will be increased so much that the lines may be sealed lengthwise and crosswise by means of rotating sealing means.
