Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a luminaire with an elongated luminaire body and at least one longitudinal luminaire flange each of which extend longitudinally from one end of the luminaire body. The luminaire body being shorter than the luminaire length measured from the ends of both longitudinal luminaire flanges. The luminaire body can include a channel with a plurality of light sources, optical elements, power lines, and/or control lines. A connector is also disclosed according to some embodiments of the invention that can be used to physically and/or electrically couple two luminaires together. The connector can couple the luminaires at a T-bar.

Abstract: An electrical device is provided that can selectively be powered through a neutral wire or an earth ground. The electrical device includes a line terminal, a neutral terminal, a ground terminal, and a selection mechanism. The line terminal is electrically connected to at least one load. The line terminal can be electrically connected to a line (or “hot”) wire. The neutral terminal is electrically connected to the at least one load. The neutral terminal can be electrically connected to the neutral wire. A first electrical path is provided from the line terminal through the at least one load to the neutral terminal. The ground terminal can conduct current to the earth ground. The selection can selectively provide a second electrical path from the neutral terminal to the earth ground via the ground terminal.

Abstract: A lighting assembly includes a light source and a lens. The lens includes a light transmissive portion and an optic shield portion for blocking or redirecting at least a portion of light generated by the light source. The light source can include one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs). The optic shield can be painted on or otherwise applied to a portion of the lens. Alternatively, it can be integrally formed with the lens. The optic shield can be an opaque material for blocking light generated by the light source or can be a reflective material for reflecting light generated by the light source through the light transmissive portion of the lens. Methods for making an optic shield are also described.
Abstract: A door assembly for a lighting fixture. Embodiments of the door assembly include a door frame defined by two frame sides and two frame ends that define a frame opening. A diffuser panel is positioned within the door frame to span the frame opening and a refractor extends along the length of the door frame. The refractor is retained on the door assembly at its ends. More specifically, in some embodiments an aperture having the profile of the refractor is provided in the end plate on each frame end. The ends of the refractor are inserted into the apertures of the end plates to retain the refractor on the door assembly by its ends.

Abstract: A light fixture includes a door frame, the door frame having at least one frame side and a reflector. The edge of the reflector engages a slot in the frame side, which includes at least one LED, to precisely position the reflector and the at least one LED relative to one another. The at least one frame side may also include a reflective kicker for reflecting light from the at least one LED onto the reflector. The reflector may include a semi-specular optical material, which specularly reflects some of the incoming light from the at least one LED and diffusely reflects other of the incoming LED light. The reflector may be collapsible for ease of transportation and shipping; the at least one frame side precisely positions the reflector and at least one LED during assembly and installation.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for remote lighting control by a processor of photocontrol device for a light fixture. The photocontrol receives, via a wireless network interface, a request to establish a communication session with a remote device using the wireless network interface. The request includes an authentication credential. A command is received, via the communication session with the remote device, to control light output produced from the light fixture. The photocontrol initiates performance of the command for the light fixture, where the command supersedes any other command from ambient light sensing logic of the photocontrol device. The photocontrol device indicates a result of the performance of the command.
Abstract: A multi-mode control device is provided for controlling a load device. A high-power interface of the control device can be electrically coupled to a high-power module for providing current to the load device. An occupancy sensor can receive a first current from the high-power module via the high-power interface, and a trigger detection device can receive a second current that is less than the first current from a low-power module via a low-power interface. The processor can switch the control device from a high-power mode for powering the occupancy sensor to a low-power mode by causing a reduction in the current provided to the occupancy sensor and causing current to be provided to the trigger detection device. The trigger detection device can detect a trigger in the low-power mode. The processor can cause the control device to operate in the high-power mode based on the trigger's detection.

Abstract: An architectural light fixture with a mounting includes a rigid yoke with opposed mounts aligned with external cavities located on a housing. The cavities have conical inner surfaces and bottoms with fastener engagements. Yoke pins include conical outer surfaces to operate as yoke locks. Fastener associated with the yoke pins engage to draw the yoke locks into interfering fit with the truncated conical inner surface of the mounting cavity. The light fixture housing has a port with a plug of porous water repellant material. A cover is employed to protect the plug. The light fixture housing also has a flat mounting surface with a wire access hole. The fixture includes a cover to enclose a photocell biased toward the mounting surface and retains an O-ring against the fixture housing.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a luminaire that includes a plurality of different light engines. Light engines having different light distributions can be included in a single luminaire and a subset of the light engines selectively driven to dynamically change the light distribution of the luminaire. In this way, a single luminaire is capable of illuminating an area with a variety of different light distributions.
