Abstract: The invention relates to an inductively-coupled plasma processing apparatus and a method for processing a substrate. By arranging a magnetic field line adjusting component made of magnetic conductive material, a quasi-closed low reluctance path is formed to serve as the path of the magnetic field line loop outside of the reaction chamber, and the path of most magnetic field lines of the induced magnetic field is constrained by the low reluctance path. In this way, most of magnetic field energy diverged previously may be gathered, and then the magnetic field is multiplied; alternatively, less energy is required to obtain the same magnetic field strength to generate plasma for performing etching, which improves utilization efficiency of energy source.
Abstract: Inorganic particulate or whiskers are surface-treated to facilitate receptivity to covalent bonding with a coupling agent. Surface treatment forms reactive groups that enable the inorganic particulate or whiskers to covalently bond to a reactive group of the coupling agent. The coupling agent also contains organofunctional groups, which in some examples may be covalently bonded to a polymer matrix by way of crosslinking or by co-polymerizing the functionalized particulate or whiskers together with polymer precursors. The resulting polymeric materials exhibit markedly improved abrasion resistance as well as other improved properties.

Abstract: Techniques for measuring ion beam current, especially for measuring low energy ion beam current, are disclosed. The technique may be realized as an ion beam current measurement apparatus having at least a planar Faraday cup and a voltage assembly. The planar Faraday cup is located close to an inner surface of a chamber wall, and intersects an ion beam path. The voltage assembly is located outside a chamber having the chamber wall. Therefore, by properly adjusting the electric voltage applied on the planar Faraday cup by the voltage assembly, some undesired charged particles may be adequately suppressed. Further, the planar Faraday cup may surround an opening of an additional Faraday cup being any conventional Faraday cup. Therefore, the whole ion beam may be received and measured well by the larger cross-section area of the planar Faraday cup on the ion beam path.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for additive range reduction are disclosed. A constant may be pre-stored in a look-up table (LUT), and at least one section of the constant may be retrieved from the LUT for generating a product of an input argument and the constant such that a precision of the product may be controlled in any granularity. The retrieved sections are determined to correctly generate the two least significant bits (LSBs) of an integer portion and a scalable number of most significant bits of the multiplication result. An output of the trigonometric function is generated for the argument with a fractional portion of the multiplication result based on two LSBs of the integer portion of the multiplication result.

Abstract: Embodiments include implementing a phase detector for a delay-locked loop (DLL) circuit that is operable to detect substantially 270 degree and substantially 540 degree phase differences between two clock signals. In an embodiment, a DLL circuit comprises a delay line receiving a system clock signal and generating phase shifted clock signals, a phase detector receiving the system clock signal and phase shifted clock signal, and configured to generate corresponding up and down signals upon detection of a phase shift of substantially 270 degrees between the system clock signal and the phase shifted clock signal, a charge pump coupled to the phase detector, and configured to receive the up and down signals and generate a control signal responsive to thereto, and a regulator circuit to receive the control signal from the charge pump and generate a voltage control signal to the delay chain to control delay of the system clock signal.
Abstract: A method, for manufacturing a device for canceling an undesirable magnetic field around an on-line electric vehicle, the method comprising, calculating a primary magnetic field generated by a current flowing through a power line, calculating a first undesirable magnetic field, calculating a second undesirable magnetic field, obtaining an entire undesirable magnetic field by calculating a vector sum of the first and second undesirable magnetic fields, obtaining a number of turns of a coil to be wound around one end or both ends of the power acquisition device which maximally cancels the entire undesirable magnetic field, and winding the coil around the end or ends of the power acquisition device in accordance with the obtained number of turns, and short-circuiting each coil.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a droplet actuator device and methods for integrating gel electrophoresis analysis with pre or post-analytical sample handling as well as other molecular analysis processes. Using digital microfluidics technology, the droplet actuator device and methods of the invention provide the ability to perform gel electrophoresis and liquid handling operations on a single integrated device. The integrated liquid handling operations may be used to prepare and deliver samples to the electrophoresis gel, capture and subsequently process products of the electrophoresis gel or perform additional assays on the same sample materials which are analyzed by gel electrophoresis. In one embodiment, one or more molecular assays, such as nucleic acid (e.g., DNA) quantification by real-time PCR, and one or more sample processing operations such as sample dilution is performed on a droplet actuator integrated with an electrophoresis gel.
