Abstract: Activated human embryos produced by therapeutic cloning can give rise to human totipotent and pluripotent stem cells from which autologous cells for transplantation therapy are derived. The present invention provides methods for producing activated human embryos that can be used to generate totipotent and pluripotent stem cells from which autologous cells and tissues suitable for transplantation can be derived. The ability to create autologous human embryos represents a critical step towards generating immune-compatible stem cells that can be used to overcome the problem of immune rejection in regenerative medicine. The activated human embryos produced by the present invention also provide model systems for identifying and analyzing the molecular mechanisms of epigenetic imprinting and the genetic regulation of embryogenesis and development.

Abstract: A method and system are described for low-latency video. In the method a frame, selected from a group of frames, is divided into P-regions and an I-region based on an assigned refresh pattern in a refresh loop. An I-region bit budget and a P-region bit budget are determined. Quantization parameters are determined using the I-region bit budget and the P-region bit budget. Macroblocks of the selected frame are encoded based on the quantization parameters. The I-complexity and P-complexity are updated and a new frame bit budget is determined. The dividing, determining of the I-region bit budget, determining of the P-region bit budget, determining of quantization parameters and encoding are repeated for each remaining frame in the group of frames.

Abstract: In a dual stress liner approach, the surface conditions after the patterning of a first stress-inducing layer may be enhanced by appropriately designing an etch sequence for substantially completely removing an etch stop material, which may be used for the patterning of the second stress-inducing dielectric material, while, in other cases, the etch stop material may be selectively formed after the patterning of the first stress-inducing dielectric material. Hence, the dual stress liner approach may be efficiently applied to semiconductor devices of the 45 nm technology and beyond.

The selected region is transformed and quantized if the region does not meet a predetermined compression acceptability criteria. The predetermined compression acceptability criteria may include a specific bit rate, a specific image quality, or combinations thereof. If the region does not meet the predetermined compression acceptability criteria after the region has been transformed and quantized, then the transformation and quantization settings are adjusted and the region is transformed and quantized using the adjusted settings. The region is then encoded when the predetermined compression acceptability criteria has been reached. The encoding may include additional compression stages.
