Abstract: A system for managing cache utilization includes a processor core, a lower-level cache, and a higher-level cache. In response to activating the higher-level cache, the system counts lower-level cache victims evicted from the lower-level cache. While a count of the lower-level cache victims is not greater than a threshold number, the system transfers each lower-level cache victim to a system memory without storing the lower-level cache victim to the higher-level cache. When the count of the lower-level cache victims is greater than the threshold number, the system writes each lower-level cache victim to the higher-level cache. In this manner, if the higher-level cache is deactivated before the threshold number of lower-level cache victims is reached, the higher-level cache is empty and thus may be deactivated without flushing.
Abstract: An electrical receptacle connector includes a metallic shell, an insulated housing received in the metallic shell, receptacle terminals, and a grounding plate. The receptacle terminals and the grounding plate are at the insulated housing. The insulated housing includes a base portion and a tongue portion extending from the base portion. The grounding plate includes a plate body, extension arms, and contact regions. The front of the plate body is near to a front lateral surface of the tongue portion, and the rear of the plate body is extending to the base portion. The plate body is between the receptacle terminals. The extension arms are extending from the plate body. The contact regions are formed on the extension arms and in contact with an inner wall of the shell body. Accordingly, the grounding plate is in contact with the metallic shell for providing grounding and reducing the electromagnetic interference.
Abstract: Provided herein are glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPD) enzymes with increased KM for NADH and GPD enzymes with substantially the same affinity for NADH and NADPH and/or are feedback inhibited by glycerol-3-phosphate. Also provided herein are recombinant microorganisms comprising a heterologous gene encoding GPD and a deletion or disruption in an endogenous gene encoding GPD. Also provided are recombinant microorganisms comprising a heterologous gene encoding GPD and a butanol biosynthetic pathway. Further provided are methods of producing butanol comprising providing the recombinant microorganisms described herein and contacting the recombinant microorganism with at least one fermentable carbon substrate under conditions wherein butanol is produced.

Abstract: Strong fabrics are provided that can be used for items that can be moved or gathered while maintaining their integrity. The added strength of the fabric and the performance of the fabric make these fabrics and these items more effective in responding to oil spills. These fabrics and items will remove oil sheen from the surface of water and can absorb more than their dry weight in oil from water. Non-linting socks (e.g., sediment socks or absorbent socks) are also provided.

Abstract: A system for landing or docking a mobile platform is enabled by a flash LADAR sensor having an adaptive controller with Automatic Gain Control (AGC). Range gating in the LADAR sensor penetrates through diffuse reflectors. The LADAR sensor adapted for landing/approach comprises a system controller, pulsed laser transmitter, transmit optics, receive optics, a focal plane array of detectors, a readout integrated circuit, camera support electronics and image processor, an image analysis and bias calculation processor, and a detector array bias control circuit. The system is capable of developing a complete 3-D scene from a single point of view.
Abstract: Provided is a method for increasing a driving current of a junctionless transistor that includes: a substrate; a source region and a drain region which are formed on the substrate and are doped with the same type of dopant; a nanowire channel region which connects the source region and the drain source and is doped with the same type dopant as that of the source region and the drain region; a gate insulation layer which is formed to surround the nanowire channel region; and a gate electrode which is formed on the gate insulation layer and is formed to surround the nanowire channel region. An amount of current flowing through the nanowire channel region is increased by joule heat generated by applying a voltage to the source region and the drain region.

Abstract: An optically trapped atom transfer tweezer may be provided that includes: an optical modulator which modulates incident light and generates a first hologram; a first lens which images the first hologram on an intermediate image plane and generates a first holographic image having any potential shape; a second lens which re-images the first holographic image on an entrance pupil of a third lens; the third lens which re-images a second hologram generated by the re-imaging of the second lens on a plane where an optically trapped atom array exists; a photographing device which captures optically trapped cold atoms from a second holographic image generated on the plane where an optically trapped atom array exists; and a controller which controls the optical modulator to adjust the second holographic image on the basis of the optically trapped atom image captured by the photographing device. As a result of this, the optically trapped atom array can be easily transferred to any position.
