  • Patent number: 6136462
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel cell system with high-temperature fuel cells, in which some of the heat of the gases flowing out of the anode and cathode is used to that end. The gases that the flow into the anode and cathode are brought to a temperature that is required for operation of the fuel cells and is still tolerable for the cells, having an anode and/or cathode loop. It is provided that for the anode and/or cathode loop, at least that time-referred quantity of reaction gases that is required for attaining the electrical output of the fuel cells is furnished.

  • Patent number: 6100511
Abstract: A method and device for electrically connecting enameled wire ends with contact surfaces. The enameled wire is stripped and pressed against the contact surface. The wire is charged with at least one of an electromagnetic and an acoustical energy. The enamel layer of the wire end is destroyed with the first energy in a first step. This is accomplished by charging the region with at least one of a first electromagnetic energy and a first acoustical energy. The enamel layer of the wire end is only partially destroyed in the first step through the pressing of a region of the wire end against the contact surface with a first pressing force. The wire is permanently connected to the contact surface with a second energy in a further step. The same region of the wire is pressed against the contact surface with a second, lower pressing force in the subsequent process step. It is charged with a second energy and connected to the contact surface so as to conduct electricity.

  • Patent number: 6075903
Abstract: The invention concerns a process to correct the intensity of images from a digital infrared camera with a two-dimensional detector. First a stationary correction is made at a reference source to determine correction coefficients. For the stationary correction, an average intensity characteristic curve U.sub.av (T) is determined for the detector and compared with the intensity characteristic curve U.sub.j (T) for each image point j of the two-dimensional detector to determine correction coefficients for each image point j. A non-linear formulation is used to adapt the intensity characteristic curve U.sub.j (T) of each image point to the average intensity characteristic curve U.sub.av (T). Correction coefficients are stored in a memory to correct the individual intensity U.sub.j of each image point j during operation. During operation, the correction coefficients are improved dynamically. The intensity Uj of an image is recorded and the intensity Uj of the image is filtered by a locally acting adaptive filter.

  • Patent number: 5956218
Abstract: An earth-leakage circuit breaker has a totalizing current transformer, a magnetic trip device and switchgear with main current contacts for the main leads. A current-signal generator, a current sensor, a time-signal generator and an electronic timer wherein the switching value and response time of the circuit breaker are measured at predetermined intervals, compared with reference switching values and response times and, if these reference values are exceeded, an alarm is promptly given. During the measurement, a locking device prevents the main current contacts from opening and/or when predetermined limiting switching and response times are exceeded, the locking device opens the main current contacts and subsequently acts as a lock preventing the contacts from closing again, which is equivalent to fail-safe behavior. In addition, the switching value of the circuit breaker is multiplied by its response time and the product, which may exceed a particular constant value, is used for monitoring purposes.

  • Patent number: 5906720
Abstract: A process for preparing a phosphor layer of a cathode ray tube. To prepare a phosphor layer located on the display screen rear side of the cathode ray tube, the display screen rear side is first coated with an electrically conductive electrode layer consisting of electrically conductive polymers; a solution containing the phosphors or their precursors as well as a solution containing an electrolyte are deposited on the electrode layer; an electric field is applied between the electrode layer and the solution; and the phosphors are electrophoretically deposited on the electrode layer to form the phosphor layer. Since polymers with an evaporation temperature below the destruction temperature of the phosphors are selected, the electrode layer can subsequently be removed by evaporating the polymers.

  • Patent number: 5876803
Abstract: The subject matter of the invention is a process for controlling a multiplicity of spray tools for the surface coating of vehicles or parts thereof. With stored program control, the settings for the multiplicity of spray tool which determine the paint flow through each tool are issued centrally to the control elements associated with the spray tools. The trajectory points for the tools, which are stored with coarse spacing or obtained by coarse interpolation from already stored trajectory points, are applied as reference values to the attitude controllers serving each spray tool; from the said position controllers, additional trajectory points are determined by fine interpolation between the transmitted trajectory points and processed in the position controller by means of actual position values.

  • Patent number: 5814375
Abstract: A method for automatically coating objects with a spraying device which includes at least one atomizer that is moved along paths determined by programs. For respective objects or segments of objects, which essentially differ with respect to the dimensions, a program is provided which is modified as a function of the length of the respective object or segment, which length is allocated to a direction of a Cartesian coordinate system, for predetermining the path of the atomizer in the direction of the length of the object. By means of dimension data that are inserted into the program, the paths to be followed by the atomizer are constantly adapted along the predetermined path in at least one direction that extends at a right angle to this direction.
