Patent number: 6884088Abstract: Solder balls are offset in the horizontal direction from fixing portions while their positional accuracy is ensured, and signal paths are shortened in a ball grid array IC socket. Contacts fixed to contact hosing apertures of a housing include base portions, contact arms, and terminal portions that extend from the lower ends of the base portions toward a circuit board. The contact arms protrude so as to extend upward and then are bent unidirectionally. The terminal portions are constituted by transition portions that link solder ball pads to the base portions, while offsetting the solder ball pads in the same direction as the contact arms. The transition portions include vertical portions which are substantially perpendicular to the solder ball pads or inclined portions angled upwardly from the solder ball pads. The vertical or inclined portions prevent movement of the solder balls, thereby preventing positional misalignment and deformation thereof.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2004Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP K.K.Inventors: Shuji Kajinuma, Masashi Inoue, Hiroshi Kaneko

Patent number: 6881104Abstract: A wire connector for connecting wires to each other having a small wire collection space and which transmits a small shock load to the wires connected therein is formed by bending a metal plate at both sides of a central portion to form a closed ring having open ends at both ends thereof. Depressions that protrude toward the interior of the closed ring so that they approach each other are formed at the central portions of both side walls of the closed ring. A vertically extending slot is formed in each of the side walls. Wires are inserted through each of the open ends and the slots, then pressure is applied so that the portion where the ends of the bent metal plate are coupled and the central portion approach each other. The pressure compressively deforms the connector, and the wires are electrical connected to each other.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2003Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP K.K.Inventors: Mitsuru Suzuki, Yoshifumi Suemitsu, Nobuhiro Yamasaki, Kooji Imai

Patent number: 6878000Abstract: A connector is provided to reduce the risk of erroneous ejection of a card from a card connector during use thereof. A stopper member is rotatably mounted on a knob of an ejecting mechanism. The stopper member is urged in the counterclockwise direction by a spring. When the knob protrudes in a state in which the card is not inserted in the connector, the stopper member, urged by the spring, exits a slot of the knob, rotates about a pin, and a rear end of the stopper member enters a card receiving slot. Accordingly, a card cannot be inserted into the card receiving slot 3 due to the protrusion of the stopper member into the card receiving slot.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2003Date of Patent: April 12, 2005Assignees: Tyco Electronics AMP K.K., Fanuc Ltd.Inventors: Junya Akasaka, Hiroyuki Suwa

Patent number: 6877999Abstract: The present invention provides a connector shutter which makes it possible to reduce the space between the connector and the shutters. The connector shutters are installed in the housing of an electronic device so that the mating recesses of the connector are opened and closed by these connector shutters. These connector shutters are caused to pivot as a result of the tip ends of the connector shutters being contacted by the guide parts of the mating connector, so that the mating recesses of the connector are opened. The pivoting shafts of the connector shutters are disposed facing the end surfaces and of the connector at both ends of the connector with respect to the lengthwise direction, and the contact parts of the tip ends of the shutters that are contacted by the guide parts include protruding parts that protrude further than the other portions of these tip ends.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2003Date of Patent: April 12, 2005Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP K.K.Inventor: Shinichi Hashimoto

Patent number: 6872084Abstract: An electrical connector assembly in which conductor pads on a board are used as contacts is described. Signal conductor pads transmitting positive and negative differential signals, are disposed on one side of the board. A ground pad is disposed on the opposite side of the board so that it is positioned at an intermediate point between the positive and negative signal conductor pads, thus forming one set of pads. The signal conductor pads of another adjacent set, are disposed on the same side as the signal pad of the previous set such that their negative differential signals an adjacent. The pad of a third set (not shown in the figures) which is adjacent to the positive signal pad of the second set is a pad that transmits the same positive differential signal. As a result, signal crosstalk can be prevented.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: March 29, 2005Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP, K.K.Inventors: Takaki Naito, Doron Lapidot

Patent number: 6869017Abstract: A card connector has a first receiving slot for receiving a first card and a second receiving slot for receiving a second card having a thickness smaller than the first card. A stopper member is supported in the first receiving slot by a supporting shaft and pivots between a first position where the stopper member blocks the first receiving slot to prevent advancement of the first or second card and a second position where the first receiving slot is unblocked. A cam member is pivotally supported in the card receiving slot by a supporting shaft arranged perpendicular to the supporting shaft of the stopper member and has a claw that abuts the stopper member to prevent the stopper member from pivoting to the second position. The cam member has a cam surface that releases the claw from the stopper member when the cam surface is cam-engaged by the first card.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2003Date of Patent: March 22, 2005Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP K.K.Inventor: Katsumi Yamaguchi
