Publication number: 20210374022Abstract: A serial interface, such as a serial peripheral interface (SPI), with improved diagnostic coverage is disclosed. The serial interface includes a data verification module that selects an error detection value in response to a mode signal indicating if the transmitting device is in user mode or test mode. For example, the data verification module computes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) value and selects either the computed CRC value or its inverse based on the mode. The receiving device can determine the mode of the transmitting device based on the error detection value used. The serial interface further includes a read detector for clearing the transmit data buffer after data is read out. The serial interface may further include a loopback circuit for verifying that the data output from an output pin matches the data from the transmit data buffer.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2020Publication date: December 2, 2021Applicant: Analog Devices International Unlimited CompanyInventors: Jeremy R. Patent number: 11188112Abstract: An example current mirror arrangement includes a current mirror circuit, configured to receive an input current signal at an input transistor Q1 and output a mirrored signal at an output transistor Q2. The arrangement further includes a buffer amplifier circuit, having an input coupled to Q1 and an output coupled to Q2. The offset of the buffer amplifier circuit can be adjusted by including circuitry for an input or an output side offset adjustment or by implementing the buffer amplifier circuit as a diamond stage with individually controlled current sources for each of the transistors of the diamond stage. Providing an adjustable offset buffer in a current mirror arrangement may advantageously allow benefiting from the use of a buffer outside of a feedback loop of a current mirror, while being able to reduce the buffer offset due to mismatch between master and slave sides of the current mirror circuit.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2020Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: ANALOG DEVICES, INC.Inventors: Devrim Aksin, Omid Foroudi

Patent number: 11190197Abstract: Noise sources in a pipelined ADC circuit can include kT/C sampling noise from a capacitor DAC circuit and residue amplifier sampling noise. The kT/C sampling noise is inversely proportional to the size of the sampling capacitors; the larger sampling capacitors produce less noise. However, larger sampling capacitor can be difficult to drive and physically occupy significant die area. By using the described techniques, the inversely proportional relationship between the sampling noise and the size of the sampling capacitors is no longer true. The size of the sampling capacitors can be greats reduced, which can reduce the die area and reduce the power consumption of the ADC, and the kT/C sampling noise can be canceled using correlated double sampling (CDS) techniques.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2019Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: Analog Devices International Unlimited CompanyInventors: Sanjay Rajasekhar, Roberto Sergio Matteo Maurino

Publication number: 20210367339Abstract: A phase shifter that includes an RF splitter is disclosed. The RF splitter is arranged so that an RF input signal is provided to, and split over portions of, a feed line that connects an antenna element with a radio transmitter/receiver/transceiver, thus realizing a feed line splitter. Feed line splitters described herein are provided with switches that allow changing a point at which the RF input signal is fed to the feed line, where the switches may be semiconductor-based or MEMS-based switches. The point at which the RF input signal is provided to the feed line to be split defines the electrical path length that the RF energy will travel down each respective path of the feed line splitter, which, in turn, changes the phase shift realized at each output of the feed line splitter. Different antenna elements may be coupled to different outputs of the feed line splitter.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2021Publication date: November 25, 2021Applicant: Analog Devices International Unlimited CompanyInventors: Padraig FITZGERALD, Yong ZHANG, Padraig McDAID, Dragoslav CULUM, Philip BRENNAN, Derek Nolan

Publication number: 20210356597Abstract: Systems and methods for a lower energy/faster time of flight camera system configured to measure distance to an object. The system is configured to emit laser light modulated with a first frequency and image light reflected by an object in order to determine a first phase difference between the emitted and reflected light. The system emits laser light modulated with a second frequency and images light reflected by the object to determine a second phase difference between the emitted and reflected light. The distance to the object is determined using the first and second phase differences. The system is arranged to operate at lower energy for obtaining the first phase difference compared with the operation to obtain the second phase difference. This results in lower overall energy consumption and faster overall operation without any significant reduction in accuracy of imaging.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2021Publication date: November 18, 2021Applicant: Analog Devices International Unlimited CompanyInventors: Jonathan Ephraim David HURWITZ, Krystian BALICKI, Eoin E. Publication number: 20210356568Abstract: Systems and methods for a Time of Flight (ToF) camera system configured to be operable in a proximity mode. In the proximity mode, the proximity of an object may be estimated by relatively delaying or offsetting the charge accumulation timing of multiple different columns of pixels of the ToF imaging sensor. The relative charge accumulated in those pixel columns is dependent on the proximity of the object and the relative time delays in charge accumulation of each column. Therefore, by reading out the charge accumulated in multiple different pixel columns and knowing the relative accumulation delay of those pixel columns, the proximity of an object may be determined. This enables the operation of the ToF camera system to be switched between relatively high power, full ToF depth imaging, and relatively low power proximity mode of operation, thereby rendering a single system as being capable of performing two different functions.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2021Publication date: November 18, 2021Applicant: Analog Devices International Unlimited CompanyInventors: Jonathan Ephraim David HURWITZ, Javier CALPE MARAVILLA, Eoin E. Patent number: 11175353Abstract: The disclosure provides a magneto resistive field sensor for detecting position in a particular direction. The sensor includes a plurality of magneto resistive elements arranged in pairs. The elements of the same pair are arranged so that their sensitivity direction is oriented in the same direction. The elements of different pairs are oriented so that their sensitivity direction is oriented in a different direction, preferably substantially perpendicular to another pair. The magneto resistive sensors and their sensitivity directions are generally arranged in a plane, which is perpendicular to the direction of measurement of the device. The elements of each pair are arranged in series between two nodes so as to form a bridge circuit. As such, movement of the magnet in the first plane causes a substantially equal change in the elements of each pair, thereby compensating for this movement in the output signal.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2019Date of Patent: November 16, 2021Assignee: Analog Devices International Unlimited CompanyInventors: Jochen Schmitt, Eoin Edward English
