  • Patent number: 10774765
Abstract: A method is for starting a combustion engine having a pull-rope starter. A fuel/air mixture is fed to the engine via an intake channel. The mixture is ignited by a spark plug. The combustion drives the piston downward and drives a crankshaft rotationally. The fuel system has a fuel channel opening into the intake channel. An electric fuel valve is open in its currentless state and closes a fuel channel only when an operating voltage is applied. An electronic control unit actuates the fuel valve and triggers an ignition spark and is utilized by a generator to supply energy to the control unit, the fuel valve and the ignition device. To prevent excessive enriching of the fuel/air mixture during starting, the energy, which is generated at the beginning of the rotation of the crankshaft, is used to first close the fuel valve before the control unit triggers an ignition spark.

  • Patent number: 10774804
Abstract: A method is for the safe starting of a combustion engine in a handheld, portable work apparatus. When starting, start rpm limiting is activated when the rotational speed of the combustion engine exceeds an activation rotational speed that lies above the coupling rotational speed of a centrifugal coupling. After activating the start rpm limiting for at least one working cycle, an intervention in the ignition is carried out such that the rotational speed of the combustion engine decreases. After the rotational speed has decreased below a lower engagement rotational speed, an intervention in the ignition is carried out such that the rotational speed increases. If the rotational speed exceeds an upper engagement rotational speed, an intervention in the ignition is again carried out such that the rotational speed decreases. The upper engagement rotational speed and/or the lower engagement rotational speed is/are changed with an increasing number of consecutive working cycles.

  • Patent number: 10753503
Abstract: A solenoid valve for a fuel system has an electric coil and an armature disposed in a housing. A preassembled valve unit with valve seat, valve member, valve spring, and armature plate connected captively to each other is provided. In the valve unit, the valve seat is loosely secured between valve member and armature plate. The valve unit is inserted and secured in an open housing end and the valve spring contacts an inner shoulder of the housing. Armature plate and armature form a magnetic circuit. The valve member is supported on the armature plate and switched to open and close an outlet of the valve seat. By suppling current, a magnetic field is generated in the armature and attracts the armature plate into an operative valve position. The valve spring returns the armature plate into a rest position when the coil is currentless.

  • Patent number: 10694663
Abstract: A rotatingly drivable filament cutting head for a trimmer, having a basic body on which a cutting filament is held. The cutting filament extends from outside the basic body through an opening into an interior region of the filament cutting head open to the surrounding area. A stop is arranged on the filament cutting head, so that, in a first position of the cutting filament, the stop delimits a filament portion of the cutting filament, which is insertable into the interior region, to an insertion length. A deflection element is arranged in the interior region so that the cutting filament can be switched from its first position, without the cutting filament being longitudinally displaced, into a second position. The cutting filament abuts against the deflection element in its second position and the stop does not delimit the length of the filament portion which is insertable into the interior region.

  • Patent number: 10675694
Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a drive motor which drives a work tool rotationally via a belt drive. The belt drive has a first, driving pulley and a second, driven pulley. The second pulley is connected fixedly to the work tool so as to rotate therewith. The rotational speed of the second pulley is lower during operation than that of the first pulley. A brake unit acts on the belt drive. A first drive belt of a first stage and a second drive belt of a second stage act between the pulleys to transfer the drive torque. The belts each bring about a rotational speed reduction. The belt drive includes a redirection roll which bears against the belt, via which the highest drive torque is transmitted during operation. As a result, a braking operation of the work tool is enabled independently of the rotational speed of the tool.

  • Patent number: 10670070
Abstract: A telescopic drive shaft in a protective tube of a handheld work apparatus has one end connected to a rotational drive and the other end thereof to a driven tool. The drive shaft includes a rigid shaft segment and a connecting section. The rigid shaft segment has a hollow shaft end portion and an engagement length (E) of the connecting section engages therein. The engagement length (E) and the length of the hollow shaft end portion mutually overlap to form a joining section. The hollow shaft end portion is deformed for connecting the connecting section to the rigid shaft segment. The material of the hollow shaft end portion is compressed over its entire periphery and deformed so that the material of the hollow shaft end portion is radially displaced and is pressed in a rotative manner onto the engagement length (E) to produce a balanced, loadable connection.
