Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for a multimedia device with audio and video capturing capability to identify an audio device based on acoustic playback signal if the audio device cannot be identified from captured video. The multimedia device may assemble a list of candidate audio devices that are a possible match for the observed audio device from a database of previously recognized audio devices and may transmit commands to the candidate audio devices to play acoustic identification signals. The acoustic identification signals may be audible sound or ultrasonic tone sequences with embedded identification information unique to each audio device. The multimedia device may record and analyze the acoustic identification signals received from any of the candidate audio devices to construct metrics to select the most likely candidate for the observed audio device. The metrics may include time of flight, direction of arrival, received amplitude, direct-to-reverberant ratio (DRR) of the acoustic identification signals.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed towards systems and methods of power saving in electronic displays based on changing clock signal frequencies supplied to the gate-in-panel (GIP) circuitry during extended blanking modes of the electronic display. The display driver circuitry of the display may reduce and/or halt clock signal frequencies sent to GIP circuitry in the display, to reduce power output during extended blanking modes of the electronic display.

Abstract: Electronic devices in a system may be controlled by a user. The user may have one or more wearable devices or other devices. A user's device may be used by the user in identifying a target electronic device of interest among the electronic devices in the system. The target electronic device may be identified using a gaze tracking sensor that senses the user's point-of-gaze, an orientation sensor that detects a direction in which the user's device is pointed, or other sensor circuitry. Visual feedback, audio feedback, and/or haptic feedback may be provided to the user to confirm which electronic device has been identified as a target electronic device of interest. User input may be gathered by sensors and used in adjusting operating parameters in the target electronic device of interest. Health monitoring operations and other operations may also be performed.
Abstract: In some implementations, a mobile computing device may participate in the calibration of an output signal of a media device. This calibration process includes storing device-specific calibration data which is related to properties of a light sensor of the mobile device. The mobile device then detects of properties of light emitted by the display device during a presentation to obtain sensor values related to light emitted by the display device during the presentation. The calibration process may also ensure that the mobile device is proximate to the display device prior to obtaining the sensor values. The collected sensor values are adjusted using device-specific calibration data stored to the mobile device to normalize the sensor values relative to a baseline. These normalized sensor values are sent to the media device for use in adjusting the output signal based on the normalized sensor values.

Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for physical downlink control channel design for a discrete Fourier Transform-spread-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) waveform. The apparatuses and methods can include at least operating a base station (BS) to generate one or more physical downlink control channels (PDCCH) in a time division multiplexing (TDM) manner using a Discrete Fourier Transform-spread-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) waveform, generate a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) which is multiplexed in the TDM manner with the one or more PDCCH, and transmit the one or more PDCCH and the DMRS to a user equipment (UE).

Abstract: Technology for an Information Centric Networking gateway (ICN-GW) operable to modify an ICN message received from a user equipment (UE) in a Fifth Generation (5G) cellular network is disclosed. The ICN-GW can decode the ICN message received from the UE via a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) and an ICN point of attachment (ICN-PoA). The ICN-GW can modify the ICN message to produce a modified ICN message. The ICN-GW can encode the modified ICN message to route the modified ICN message to a data network.
Abstract: A head-mounted device may have a display with first and second pixel arrays that display content for a user. A head-mounted support structure in the device supports the pixel arrays on the head of the user. A left positioner may be used to position a left lens module that includes a left lens and the first pixel array. A right positioner may be used to position a right lens module that includes a right lens and the second pixel array. Sensing circuitry such as proximity sensing circuitry may be used to detect relative positions between the left and right lens modules and facing surfaces of a user's nose while the user is wearing the head-mounted support structure. Control circuitry may adjust the positions of the left and right lens modules using interpupillary distance information for the user and using information from the sensing circuitry.

Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with peripheral conductive housing structures having first and second segments. The device may include an antenna having a resonating arm formed from the first segment, an antenna ground, and a tuning element. The tuning element may have first, second, and third terminals. The first terminal may be coupled to the second segment. The antenna may have a switchable loop path that includes a first path from the second terminal to the first segment, a second path from first segment to a first point on the antenna ground, a portion of the antenna ground from the first point to a second point, and a third path from the second point to the third terminal. The tuning element may selectively activate the switchable loop path to boost performance of the antenna in a frequency band between 3300 MHz and 5000 MHz when needed.

Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) configurable for use in one of a number of possible platforms is disclosed. The IC includes a number of different functional circuit blocks and a plurality of programmable register. The programmable registers, when programmed, can cause corresponding functional circuit blocks to be fully or partially disabled. The different platforms support different sets of peripherals. The IC is thus configured, using the programmable registers, for use in a particular platform to support its corresponding set of peripherals, while another instance of the IC may be configured for use in another platform, supporting its particular set of peripherals.
