Patent number: 11956023Abstract: A first device may generate optical signals of different polarizations. Photodiodes may use the optical signals to transmit wireless signals at different polarizations and at a frequency greater than 100 GHz using the optical signals. A second device may receive the wireless signals and may convert the wireless signals into optical signals. A Stokes vector receiver on the second device may generate Stokes vectors based on the optical signals. Control circuitry on the second device may use the Stokes vectors generated for a series of training data in the wireless signals to generate a rotation matrix that characterizes polarization rotation between the first and second devices. The control circuitry may multiply wireless data in subsequently received wireless signals by the rotation matrix to mitigate the polarization rotation and other transmission impairments while using minimal resources.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2022Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Bertram R Gunzelmann

Patent number: 11956231Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that provide authority transfer of a virtual object in a shared CGR environment. In some implementations, at a first electronic device associated with a first owner having authority to transmit state updates of a virtual object, a state update is transmitted to one or more peers participating in the shared CGR environment associated with the current state of the virtual object by the first electronic device. In some implementations, a handoff message is transmitted to indicate that ownership of the virtual object is being handed off. Then, an acquisition message transmitted by a second electronic device associated with a second owner indicates ownership acquisition of the virtual object by the second owner. The first electronic device accepts state updates of the virtual object transmitted from the second owner based on receiving the acquisition message.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2020Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Igor L. Patent number: 11954881Abstract: In some implementations a neural network is trained to perform a main task using a clustering constraint, for example, using both a main task training loss and a clustering training loss. Training inputs are inputted into a main task neural network to produce output labels predicting locations of the parts of the objects in the training inputs. Data from pooled layers of the main task neural network is inputted into a clustering neural network. The main task neural network and the clustering neural network are trained based on a main task loss from the main task neural network and a clustering loss from the clustering neural network. The main task loss is determined by comparing differences between the output labels and the training labels. The clustering loss encourages the clustering network to learn to label the parts of the objects individually, e.g., to learn groups corresponding to the object parts.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2019Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Peter Meier, Tanmay Batra

Patent number: 11956323Abstract: This application relates to embodiments for providing a content stream to a device from a content server based on a protocol that is established between the device and an account server. The account server can initiate a session with the device and provide the device with a list of channels available for a user account associated with the device. When a channel is selected at the device, conditional access information can be provided from the account server to the device, which can thereafter relay the conditional access information to the content server. The content server can use the conditional access information to verify that the device has the appropriate permission to receive streaming content. In this way, because the conditional access information originates at the account server, permission to access streaming content can be managed by correspondence between the account server and the device, rather than the content server.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Srinivas Vedula, Daniel P. Patent number: 11956341Abstract: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry clocked using an electro-optical phase-locked loop (OPLL) having primary and secondary lasers. A frequency-locked loop (FLL) path and a phase-locked loop (PLL) path may couple an output of the secondary laser to its input. A photodiode may generate a photodiode signal based on the laser output. A digital-to-time converter (DTC) may generate a reference signal. The FLL path may coarsely tune the secondary laser based on the photodiode signal until the secondary laser is frequency locked. Then, the PLL path may finely tune the secondary laser based on the reference signal and the photodiode signal until the phase of the secondary laser is locked to the primary laser. The photodiode signal may be subsampled on the PLL path. This may allow the OPLL to generate optical local oscillator signals with minimal jitter and phase noise.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2022Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Zdravko Boos, Alfredo Bismuto, Bertram R Gunzelmann
