  • Patent number: 11682828
Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with an antenna module and a phased antenna array on the module. The module may include a logic board, an antenna board surface-mounted to the logic board, and a radio-frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) mounted surface-mounted to the logic board. The phased antenna array may include antennas embedded in the antenna board. The antennas may radiate at centimeter and/or millimeter wave frequencies. The logic board may form a radio-frequency interface between the RFIC and the antennas. Transmission lines in the logic board and the antenna board may include impedance matching segments that help to match the impedance of the RFIC to the impedance of the antennas. The module may efficiently utilize space within the device without sacrificing radio-frequency performance.

  • Patent number: 11683678
Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for implementing discovery frames and group addressed frames communication. For example, some embodiments relate to a method including generating a first frame to be transmitted to a first electronic device. An association identifier (AID) value of the first frame is set to a first value to indicate that the first frame is an individually addressed frame addressed to the first electronic device. The method further includes generating a second frame to be transmitted to a group of one or more electronic devices. An AID value of the second frame is set to a second value different from the first value. The method also includes transmitting the first frame and the second frame.

  • Patent number: 11683145
Abstract: Embodiments of dynamic multiplexing are described, including the transmission of preemption indication (PI) to indicate preemption of time-frequency resources. In some embodiments, a next Generation NodeB (gNB) is configured to transmit PIs in signaling to preempt an enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) communications transmission with an ultra-reliable and low latency communications (URLCC) transmission. In some embodiments, a user equipment (UE) is configured to monitor a region of time-frequency resources, within a bandwidth part (BWP), for a PI. The PI indicates to the UE a portion of time-frequency resources that omit transmissions intended for the UE. In some embodiments, the gNB transmits the PI to the UE within preemption indication downlink control information (PI-DCI) in a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in a control resource set (CORESET). In some embodiments, the BWP is defined according to a frequency domain location, a bandwidth, and a subcarrier spacing for a given numerology.

  • Patent number: 11681027
Abstract: An optical sensing device includes a light source, which is configured to emit one or more beams of light pulses at respective angles toward a target scene. An array of sensing elements is configured to output signals in response to incidence of photons on the sensing elements. Light collection optics are configured to image the target scene onto the array. Control circuitry is coupled to actuate the sensing elements only in one or more selected regions of the array, each selected region containing a respective set of the sensing elements in a part of the array onto which the light collection optics image a corresponding area of the target scene that is illuminated by the one of the beams, and to adjust a membership of the respective set responsively to a distance of the corresponding area from the device.

  • Patent number: 11681158
Abstract: A damper arrangement may be used in a camera module that includes a first (e.g., stationary) and a second (e.g., dynamic) component. The second component may hold a lens such that the lens moves together with the second component. The damper arrangement may include an interface member that extends from the first or the second component to at least partially into a viscoelastic material within a volumetric space configured in the first component, the second component, or both. The interface member may include a mounting portion having a thickness and a viscoelastic material section, having a different thickness, that interacts with viscoelastic material to dampen motion of the second component, for example, during operation of a lens actuator to move the second component along an optical axis of the lens. The interface member may be a two-piece interface member, such as a pin soldered into a hole in a plate, for example.

  • Patent number: 11681415
Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing near-view notification techniques. In some instances, a viewing distance with respect to a display screen of an electronic device may be determined. In accordance with a determination that the viewing distance is above a distance threshold, content may be presented on the display screen. In accordance with a determination that the viewing distance is under a distance threshold, until the viewing distance returns to being above the distance threshold, a visual notification may be displayed. The visual notification may disrupt the content presented on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 11680819
Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can manage conflicts using conflict islands. For example, when a computing device receives bulk map data updates, the computing device can determine conflicts between point updates (e.g., small, ad hoc feature edits) in the current map data and the bulk map data updates. When the bulk map data updates are merged with the current map data, a point update for a map feature may conflict with the bulk update for the feature. The computing device can determine a perimeter of stable map features around the conflicted feature. The map features within the perimeter can correspond to a conflict island. The bulk updates for features within a conflict island (e.g., within the perimeter) can be deferred until resolved while bulk updates for features outside of a conflict island can be applied to the current map data.

  • Patent number: 11680788
Abstract: A portable electronic device is operable in a particulate matter concentration mode where the portable electronic device uses a self-mixing interferometry sensor to emit a beam of coherent light from an optical resonant cavity, receive a reflection or backscatter of the beam into the optical resonant cavity, produce a self-mixing signal resulting from a reflection or backscatter of the beam of coherent light, and determine a particle velocity and/or particulate matter concentration using the self-mixing signal. The portable electronic device is also operable in an absolute distance mode where the portable electronic device determines whether or not an absolute distance determined using the self-mixing signal is outside or within a particulate sensing volume associated with the beam of coherent light. If not, the portable electronic device may determine a contamination and/or obstruction is present that may result in inaccurate particle velocity and/or particulate matter concentration determination.
