  • Patent number: 11650368
Abstract: An electronic device may have a display that displays an image. The image may be viewed through a display cover layer that overlaps the display. The display cover layer may include an optical coupling layer such as a coherent fiber bundle. A pixel expansion layer such as a diffractive layer may be incorporated between the optical coupling layer and a protective layer. The diffractive layer may create duplicate pixels to occupy otherwise non-light-emitting areas on the output surface of the display cover layer. The diffractive layer may also create duplicate pixels that overlap adjacent pixels to allow for brightness averaging. An adhesive layer or the protective layer may be used to form diffractive elements for the diffractive layer. An adhesive layer having a high index of refraction may be interposed between the optical coupling layer and the display panel to mitigate undesired reflections of ambient light.

  • Patent number: 11651137
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices can efficiently manage the displaying of text on a screen of a computing device. For example, a client application can provide a data object for a particular style window on the screen. The data object can include a data item, comprising text data, one or more units specifying one or more portions of the text data to be displayed in the style window, and an identifier corresponding to a particular display function to be used in displaying the text data. The display function can be invoked to determine a potential text string to display based on the text data, the one or more units, and one or more rules corresponding to the particular display function. Additional text strings can be generated to obtain a text string that is shorter than or equal to a maximum length for the data item.

  • Patent number: 11653026
Abstract: A video encoding system in which pixel data is decomposed into frequency bands prior to encoding. The frequency bands are organized into blocks that are provided to a block-based encoder. The encoded frequency data is packetized and transmitted to a receiving device. On the receiving device, the encoded data is decoded to recover the frequency bands. Wavelet synthesis is then performed on the frequency bands to reconstruct the pixel data for display. The system may encode parts of frames (tiles or slices) using one or more encoders and transmit the encoded parts as they are ready. A pre-filter component may perform a lens warp on the pixel data prior to the wavelet transform.

  • Patent number: 11651736
Abstract: A display pixel is provided that is operable to support hybrid compensation scheme having both in-pixel threshold voltage canceling and external threshold voltage compensation. The display may include multiple p-type silicon transistors with at least one n-type semiconducting-oxide transistor and one storage capacitor. An on-bias stress phase may be performed prior to a threshold voltage sampling and data programming phase to mitigate hysteresis and improve first frame response. In low refresh rate displays, a first additional on-bias stress operation can be performed separate from the threshold voltage sampling and data programming phase during a refresh frame and a second additional on-bias stress operation can be performed during a vertical blanking frame. The display pixel may be configured to receive an initialization voltage and an anode reset voltage, either of which can be dynamically tuned to match the stress of the first and second additional on-bias stress operations to minimize flicker.

  • Patent number: 11651192
Abstract: Systems and processes for training and compressing a convolutional neural network model include the use of quantization and layer fusion. Quantized training data is passed through a convolutional layer of a neural network model to generate convolutional results during a first iteration of training the neural network model. The convolutional results are passed through a batch normalization layer of the neural network model to update normalization parameters of the batch normalization layer. The convolutional layer is fused with the batch normalization layer to generate a first fused layer and the fused parameters of the fused layer are quantized. The quantized training data is passed through the fused layer using the quantized fused parameters to generate output data, which may be quantized for a subsequent layer in the training iteration.
