  • Patent number: 11652509
Abstract: Wearable electronic devices, such as smart watches, can be provided with a band for securing the device to a wearer. The device and the band can include near-field communications (NFC) components that allow the device to uniquely identify the band. Device operations such as the color, theme, or content displayed on the device can be based, in part, on the identification of a particular band. The band may include a miniature NFC tag in an attachment portion of the band that is configured to be received in a recess in a housing of the device. An NFC module for reading the NFC tag can be provided within the recess of the housing, so that the attachment portion of the band and the recess in the device housing position and align the NFC tag with the NFC module when the band is attached to the device.

  • Patent number: 11652675
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to reducing or substantially eliminating an insertion loss caused by isolating a transmit circuit from a receive circuit of an electronic device. To do so, an isolation circuit may be disposed between the transmit circuit and the receive circuit. The isolation circuit may have a first signal path and a second signal path. A first portion of the signal may propagate along the first signal path and a second portion of the signal may propagate along the second signal path. A phase shifter may be disposed on the first signal path to shift a phase of the first portion to match a phase of the second portion. The phase-shifted first portion may be combined with the second portion to reduce or substantially eliminate an insertion loss caused by the isolation circuit.

  • Patent number: 11651204
Abstract: The present technology pertains to steering a playlisting service toward media items that are likely to receive positive feedback from a user operating a client device. The present technology permits a request to play media items without requiring an input context. A playlist service can begin to receive feedback on the playback of the media items and the received playback can be utilized by a steering service in response to a steering request to identify media items for playback that are likely to receive positive feedback based on the feedback received on a sequence of previously played media items.

  • Patent number: 11652821
Abstract: This is directed to providing access to content stored on a local cloud. In particular, a device can direct a librarian service overseeing the operation of a local cloud to provide another device with access to content stored on the local cloud. The librarian service can generate credentials for the other device, and provide the credentials to the other device. Using the credentials, the other device can connect directly to the local cloud and access the content. In addition, the local cloud can validate the credentials of the other before providing access to the content. The credentials can include, for example, a key to install or load on the device. The librarian may not require, however, the user to create credentials or register with the librarian before being permitted to access the content on the local cloud.

  • Patent number: 11644800
Abstract: An electronic watch includes a housing, a user-operable watch crown mounted to the housing, an electromagnetic radiation source emitting a beam of electromagnetic radiation toward a watch crown surface, and a sensor. The beam of electromagnetic radiation depends on a coherent mixing of electromagnetic radiation within a resonant cavity of the electromagnetic radiation source. The coherent mixing includes a mixing of a first amount of electromagnetic radiation generated by the electromagnetic radiation source and a second amount of electromagnetic radiation redirected into the resonant cavity by the watch crown surface. The sensor measures a first parameter of the beam of electromagnetic radiation and determines, using the measurement of the first parameter, a value of a second parameter characterizing movement of the watch crown. The second parameter may include a direction of rotation or speed of rotation of the watch crown, or other parameters.
