Abstract: Heat balance in a residual oil conversion unit can be controlled as a function of Conradson carbon of the feed, water added to the feed, hydrogen in the coke produced, CO.sub.2 /CO ratio, etc. Preferably, riser outlet temperature can be controlled to less than about 538.degree. C. (1000.degree. F.) at CO.sub.2 /CO flue gas ratios of 3/1 or less. Especially preferred are operations in a two-stage regenerator with cracking catalyst comprising at least 5000 ppm of Ni+V and residual carbon on regenerated catalyst of at least 0.1 wt. %. The contact time in the second stage of the regenerator being less than about 1/2 of that employed in the first stage, and with oxygen-lean gas being employed in the first stage. The heat transferred by the catalyst to the residual oil feed is preferably limited to about 500 to 1200 btu per pound of oil feed.
Abstract: A process for preparing polyurethane comprising copolymerization of a mixture comprising a bicyclic amide acetal and a blocked polyisocyanate at a temperature in the range of from about room temperature to about 200.degree. C. is described. The polymerization mixture may also contain polyamines, polyols, and polyepoxides and the polymers resulting from this process are useful as coatings, adhesives, and in elastomer synthesis.
Abstract: The process for acceleration of the cure rate of an epoxy resin which comprises forming a mixture of an epoxy resin, a boron trifluoride-amine complex and an isocyanate compound and curing said mixture at a temperature in the range of from about ambient to about 130.degree. C. is described.
Abstract: A process for preparing a novel polyurethane comprising blending a poly (alkylene ether) urethane polyol with both short- and long-chain polyols and reacting the blend with a polyisocyanate is described.
Abstract: A process for preparing a poly(alkylene amido-ether) polyols by reaction of a bicyclic amide acetal with a polyol at a temperature in the range of from 140.degree.-240.degree. C. and the use of these poly(alkylene amidoether) polyols in the formation of polyurethanes are described.
Abstract: During use in hydrocarbon conversion processes, sorbents, e.g. for carbon and metals, and catalysts become contaminated with metals, e.g. heavy metals such as vanadium, nickel and sodium. Leaching of heavy metals can be sharply reduced prior to disposal of such spent particulate materials by treatment with alkaline earth metal compound, e.g. lime, calcium fluoride, calcium sulfate, and barium chloride. Surprisingly, calcium chloride, calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate are relatively ineffective.
Abstract: An improved ballistic separation device results from surrounding the downstream end of a progressive flow reactor or riser reactor with a concentric conduit that is in fluid communication with a cyclone separator and optionally in fluid communication with dipleg take-offs. The device may also include a bevelled lip or projection at the axial opening of the progressive flow reactor.
Abstract: The process for preparing a polymeric composition at improved rate comprising reacting an oxazoline compound and a phenolic compound in the presence of a catalytic amount of a phosphorous acid ester is described.
Abstract: An adhesive comprising a mixture of (A) a mixture of an isocyanate prepolymer and a polyepoxide which is essentially free of hydroxyl groups, and (B) a mixture of a polyol, a urethane catalyst and an epoxy curing catalyst and structures prepared by adhering substrates to one another by means of said adhesive are described.
Abstract: In an apparatus for the regeneration of fluid cracking catalyst, the catalyst is cooled in a heat exchanger mounted to the lower side of the regenerator and cool catalyst is returned to the regenerator by means of a separate gas lift.

Abstract: A structural adhesive which is particularly useful in vertical substrates is composed of a mixture of two components, the first component being an epoxy resin component comprising a poly epoxide and a polyisocyanate which has been allowed to react with less than an equivalent weight of a polyamine which is a primary or secondary polyamine and the second component being a hardener for the polyepoxide comprising a mixture of primary, secondary and tertiary amines, amido amines and phenolics.
Abstract: An adhesive paste composition containing in admixture a resin component, a hardener component, a hydrophobic filler component and a curing agent. The resin component includes a polyol having at least two hydroxyl groups and the hardener component includes a liquid polyisocyanate containing at least two isocyanate groups. The admixture may be made by mixing together a premixed resin component containing a filler and a catalyst and a premixed hardener component containing a hydrophobic filler. The filler in the resin component, the hardener component, or both may be a thixotropic agent.
