Abstract: A process for decontaminating textiles contaminated by bacteria comprising washing said textiles with a detergent composition free of any peroxide bleaching agent, and then treating said textiles with a peroxide bleaching agent in an aqueous bath at a pH of between about 9 and 13, at a temperature of between about 40.degree. to 70.degree. C., in the presence of calcium, for a time sufficient to decontaminate said textiles; said calcium rendered soluble and uncomplexed and being present in an amount between about 0.001 to 1% by weight based on the weight of the bath with the source of calcium being selected from calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, or a calcium salt whose anion is inert with respect to the peroxide bleaching agent and whose dissociation constant is above about 0.01.

Abstract: Colorless, or but very faintly tinted N-(dichlorophosphoryl)trichlorophosphazene [P.sub.2 NOCl.sub.5 ] is prepared by reacting phosphorus pentachloride with ammonium chloride in the presence of POCl.sub.3, and then treating the resulting medium of reaction, containing P.sub.3 NCl.sub.12, with SO.sub.2, and wherein the temperature of the medium of reaction is maintained at a value of at most about 30.degree. C.
Abstract: The invention relates to fluoroacrylic monomers of formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.f denotes a perfluoroalkyl radical, R is hydrogen or a methyl radical, R' denotes an alkyl or cycloalkyl radical, or --NR'-- denotes a 1, 4-piperazinylene radical, W and Z denote divalent connecting groups, Q is oxygen or sulphur or an --NR"-- group, R" denoting hydrogen an alkyl radical, and A is a C.sub.2 or C.sub.3 alkylene group. The polymers (homo- or copolymers) derived from these monomers may be used for the water-repellency and oil-repellency treatment of various substrates, particularly leather.
Abstract: A process for bleaching household laundry in a wash cycle, comprising a first stage in said cycle in which the laundry is washed in the presence of a detergent composition free of any peroxide-type bleaching agent at a temperature between about 40.degree. to 60.degree. C. and a pH between about 8 and 12, rinsing said laundry, and subjecting said laundry to a second stage in said cycle in which said rinsed laundry is washed in the absence of any detergent and in the presence of at least one peroxide-type bleaching agent and an activator at a temperature between about 40.degree. to 60.degree. C. and a pH between about 9 and 13.
Abstract: Thermoplastic hot-melt adhesive granulate for melt-coating, the granulate particles of which have a coating of a film of paraffin with a melting point of 45.degree. C. to 85.degree. C. in an amount of up to 5% by weight, based on the polymer. The antioxidant is present in the film coating. The invention also relates to a method for the manufacture of this hot-melt adhesive granulate and to its used as a hot-melt coating for heat sealing.
Abstract: A process for separating dichlorotoluene isomers from a mixture containing at least two dichlorotoluene isomers comprising(a) passing said mixture containing dichlorotoluene isomers through a mordenite having the following composition; in molar ratios:a H.sub.2 O: b M.sub.2/n O: Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 : (10-400 SiO.sub.2)in which M is hydrogen or at least one cation selected from an alkali metal or an alkaline-earth metal with the exception of cesium and rubidium, n is the valence of M, 0.7.ltoreq.a+b.ltoreq.1.1, and 0.ltoreq.b.ltoreq.0.2,(b) separating the non-adsorbed dichlorotoluenes from said mordenite,(c) contacting said mordenite containing the adsorbed isomers with a desorbent capable of separating said isomers from said mordenite, and(d) separating the desorbed isomers from the desorbent.

Abstract: A two-stage hydrogen peroxide bleaching treatment of chemical pulp at a temperature of about 90.degree.-100.degree. C. comprising subjecting said pulp in a first stage to hydrogen peroxide and to at least about 3 grams/1 of bath of a metal ion sequestering agent selected from nitrogen containing sequestering agents or agents derived from polyphosphoric or polyphosphonic acids at a pH of 8.5 to 9.5 so that hydrogen peroxide of about 0.3 to 2.5 wt. % relative to dry pulp weight is consumed, and subjecting said pulp in a second stage to hydrogen peroxide and to at least about 3.times.10.sup.-3 gram-atoms per 100 grams of dry pulp of magnesium in the form of magnesium hydroxide and a pH of at least about 11 so that about 2 to 5 weight % of hydrogen peroxide per weight of dry pulp is consumed during the two stages.
