Abstract: Radiation-curable coating compositions for a surface such as a concrete floor, which include at least one multi-functional monomer or oligomer, at least one photoinitiator, at least one glossy band matting agent, and at least one matte band matting agent are described and claimed. These low gloss coating compositions allow for application of the coating composition over an area larger than a UV radiation source, while minimizing the formation of gloss bands or gloss lines that exhibit a different level of gloss in the areas where light leakage from a side light shielding of the UV radiation source results in a very weak radiation intensity, as compared to the areas subjected to high radiation intensity. These low gloss coating compositions are optionally clear topcoat compositions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a real time radiation treatment planning system for use in effecting radiation therapy of a pre-selected anatomical portion of an animal body using hollow needles. According to embodiments of the invention, the system may include a processing means processing means-configured to perform a three-dimensional imaging algorithm and a three-dimensional image segmentation algorithm, with respect to one or more specific organs within the pre-selected anatomical portion and with respect to the needles, for converting the image data obtained with an imaging means into a three-dimensional image of the anatomical portion, using at least one single or multi-objective anatomy-based genetic optimization algorithm.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transferring light generated by a light emitting diode towards an aqueous liquid containing algae. The method includes emitting light by the light emitting diode having a first refractive index, transferring the light through a liquid medium having a second refractive index, and a solid medium having a third refractive index, into the aqueous liquid having a fourth refractive index. The value of the first refractive index is equal to or greater than the value of the second refractive index. The value of the second refractive index is equal to or greater than the value of the third refractive index. The value of the third refractive index is equal to or greater than the value of the fourth refractive index. The invention further relates to a reactor designed to perform such method.

Abstract: A conductor rail assembly for use in transit rail transportation systems to transmit electrical power to rail cars comprising a first and second support sections preferably of aluminum to give the rail assembly its rail-shape and conductivity and a cap section preferably of stainless steel to provide a wear resistant surface to prevent damaging of the conductor rail by collector shoes that extend from rail cars and run on the conductor rail. The first support section has a rib and the second support section has a concavity. In the assembly, the rib of the first support member preferably is disposed within the concavity of the second support member, portions of both support members preferably are friction fit or compression fit within the cap and a friction stir weld preferably is disposed on the bottom of the assembly along a joint between the first and second support sections.

Abstract: A semiconductor chip, apparatus, and associated method wherein the semiconductor chip, having at least one electrode and configured as a sensor such as a biosensor, is removably attachable to a tip of a dipstick. The dipstick tip, with the attached semiconductor chip, is arranged to be dipped into a well containing an analyte. The well may be part of a micro-titre plate. The chip electrically senses the presence of a target molecule in the analyte. The sensing may be by detecting a change in capacitance associated with the electrode which occurs in the presence of the target molecule. The apparatus may include plural dipsticks and associated semiconductor chips which are sensitive for different target molecules. Alternatively or in addition, a single semiconductor chip may have a plurality of electrodes, which may be sensitive to different target molecules.

Abstract: A single computer may be configured to function as a multiple client simulator that tests a push engine by simultaneously simulating multiple clients. The multiple client simulator may be configured to open and simultaneously maintain a large number of connections with the push engine. To facilitate this, a virtual interface module may be used to multiply the effective number of IP addresses of the single computer. The default number of ports that are available for each IP address may also be increased, along with the available number of file descriptors.

Abstract: A safety IV catheter includes a unitary, resilient needle guard received in a catheter hub. The needle guard includes a proximal arm or wall that includes an opening through which a needle passes for axial movement. When the needle is retracted from the catheter, it releases the force that had previously prevented movement of the needle guard within the catheter hub. This in turn causes the needle guard to snap into a position in which it is clamped onto the needle shaft and in which its distal wall blocks access to the needle tip. In this condition, the spring needle guard and needle can be removed from the catheter hub. A slot or crimp may be formed in the needle shaft that engages with the needle guard after the protected needle and needle guard are removed from the catheter hub, thereby to prevent removal of the protected needle from the needle guard.

Abstract: A device receives, from a network device, information associated with an event, and assigns an event identifier to the event based on the event information. The device also provides the event identifier to a cell control device located at a location associated with the event, and determines a cell capacity of the location to ensure that there is sufficient cell capacity at the location to broadcast the event. The network device instructs a device capturing the event to provide live event data to the cell control device for a predetermined time period.

After further tightening by means of rotation in an opposite longitudinal direction the tongues are pressed flat against a stop surface (93) of the base body. Abstract: Network applications can provide network security without containing any security code or otherwise verifying the authenticity of each request that they receive for service. Instead, a single, centralized network authentication system can be placed between the network applications and all devices requesting for services from them. The authenticity of each request for service can then be verified by the centralized network authentication system before the request is passed to the network application to which it is directed. Responses from the network applications may also be channeled back to the systems that made the requests through the centralized network authentication system.

Abstract: A dental retractor made of a shape memory material to be easily bended and restored to an initial shape under predetermined conditions is provided. The dental retractor includes a retraction portion made of nitinol or alloy including nitinol to be bendable and to have shape memory characteristics, and configured to hold gingival tissue by being supported by a tooth; a support portion connected to one side of the retraction portion to support the retraction portion; and a handle portion connected to the support part. Since the dental retractor is easily bent and variously deformed as necessary, convenience of a surgery may be increased. In addition, since the dental retractor is restored to the initial shape under the predetermined conditions after the surgery, convenience is increased.

The process includes the steps of supplying secure tags and authenticating the supply of the secure tags. Additionally, a procedure is provided for the public, licensees, licensor and others to visually authenticate that an appropriate royalty has been paid for a particular product or products.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for treating a hydrocarbon stream having methane, at least a part of the hydrocarbon stream and a main refrigerant stream are cooled by indirect heat exchanging against a pre-cooling refrigerant. The pre-cooled hydrocarbon stream is passed to a first inlet of an extraction column, and an effluent stream is discharged from the extraction column. The effluent stream and at least a part of the pre-cooled main refrigerant stream are passed to a further heat exchanger, where they are both cooled thereby providing a cooled methane-enriched hydrocarbon stream and at least one cooled main refrigerant stream. The passing of the effluent stream to the further heat exchanger and the passing of the pre-cooled hydrocarbon stream to the first inlet of the extraction column includes indirectly heat exchanging the effluent stream against the pre-cooled hydrocarbon stream.

Abstract: An approach is used to estimate and correct the overlay variation as function of offset for each measurement. A target formed on a substrate includes periodic gratings. The substrate is illuminated with a circular spot on the substrate with a size larger than each grating. Radiation scattered by each grating is detected in a dark-field scatterometer to obtain measurement signals. The measurement signals are used to calculate overlay. The dependence (slope) of the overlay as a function of position in the illumination spot is determined. An estimated value of the overlay at a nominal position such as the illumination spot's center can be calculated, correcting for variation in the overlay as a function of the target's position in the illumination spot. This compensates for the effect of the position error in the wafer stage movement, and the resulting non-centered position of the target in the illumination spot.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for measuring and controlling chemical reactions that produce thermoplastic polymers by utilizing a stoichiometry correction during a reaction cycle to produce thermoplastic resins with desired properties. The thermoplastic polymer is made from at least one first monomer having a first reactive end group and at least one second monomer having a second reactive end group by reaction of the first reactive end group with the second reactive end group and has a glass transition temperature of greater than 130° C.

Abstract: The head-slider is configured to receive an air-stream produced by rotation of a magnetic-recording disk and is configured to fly in proximity with a recording surface of the magnetic-recording disk. The head-slider includes a trailing edge on an outflow side of the air-stream, and a disk-facing surface that is configured to face the recording surface of the magnetic-recording disk. A low-surface-energy film is disposed on a portion of a trailing-edge side of the head-slider that is in contact with a boundary between the trailing edge and the disk-facing surface. The low-surface-energy film has a lower surface energy than other portions of the trailing-edge side where the low-surface-energy film is not disposed.

Abstract: Semiconductor dice (100, 200) of integrated circuit chips are provided with solder bump pads (130, 230) distributed over active areas of the dice to supply the I/O interconnects without including peripheral wire bond pads. The dice are further provided with protective ESD structures (140p/140i, 240p/240i) arranged in a network that includes ESD structures that extend into the interior areas of the dice. This allows the ESD structures to be placed proximate to respective power and ground connections, and positioned to reduce an average interconnect length between interior bump pads and the ESD structures relative to an average path length between the interior bump pads and the die peripheral area.
