Abstract: A process for preparing non-planar thermoplastic fiber reinforced composites utilizes drapeable thermoplastic impregnated fiber reinforced prepregs in a pressure thermoforming process employing but one diaphragm. The single diaphragm when initially used is flat, but becomes deformed, following its first use, to the shape of the finished part. The diaphragm thus deformed may be repeatedly used as it will still fit over the prepreg layup.
Abstract: A sample of a fuel/oil/additive mixture is metered continuously to a channel-like, inclined test element along which there is an increasing temperature profile. Under the increasing action of heat on the flowing mixture, solid residual products form on the test element after a certain flow distance. Their weight and the flow distance are evaluated in order to evaluate the additive.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel substituted cyclohexanol compounds possessing a sandalwood aroma which are useful as fragrance materials. The invention also provides methods for synthesis thereof through a novel aldehyde intermediate. The compounds of the invention have the formula: ##STR1## and wherein R.sub.1 is methyl or ethyl, R.sub.2 -R.sub.7 are independently hydrogen or methyl with the proviso that a maximum of two of the substituents R.sub.2 -R.sub.7 are methyl, and R.sub.8 is hydrogen, lower alkyl (C.sub.1 or C.sub.5) or acyl. The invention also provides fragrance compositions which utilize the compounds of the invention to impart a sandalwood aroma to perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles.

Abstract: Thin films are produced by a process in which organic polymers having long-chain side groups are dissolved in an organic solvent, the solution is spread at the water/air interface by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique and the film is transferred onto a solid base material after evaporation of the organic solvent, and the organic polymers used are those which contain long-chain n-alkyl side groups bonded to the main chain of the polymer via polar groups, and some of these long-chain n-alkyl side groups are replaced by shorter-chain n-alkyl side groups, by branched alkyl side groups having the same or a smaller number of carbon atoms or by equally long or shorter side groups having one or more C-C multiple bonds. This process can be used to produce film elements, for example for optical filters.

Abstract: Thin films which contain a defined concentration of dye per unit area and are useful as layer elements, e.g. for optical filters, are prepared by spreading an oleophilic dye which is soluble in an organic water-immiscible solvent and an organic polymer dissolved in an organic solvent as a thin film at the water/air interface and, after the solvent has evaporated, transferring said film by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique to a solid base material.
