Abstract: A process for the production of coatings based on reaction products of(A) polyhydroxypolyacrylate resins obtained from hydroxyalkyl esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, alkyl esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, and one or more polymerizable, olefinically unsaturated nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, with or without vinylaromatics, (meth)acrylamides and other monomers, with(B) isocyanurate-containing polyisocyanates which may or may not contain biuret groups, have a functionality of from 2.5 to 6 and consist of a mixture of polyisocyanates possessing predominantly cycloaliphatically bonded isocyanate groups with those possessing predominantly aliphatically bonded isocyanate groups.The process is particularly useful for coating metal components.

Abstract: Very pure riboflavin (I) is obtained by a process in which the riboflavin is dissolved in dilute aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution, if necessary the alkaline solution is purified by treatment with active carbon or with a solvent which is insoluble or only slightly soluble in water, the resulting alkaline solution of I is introduced into water which is at 90.degree.-100.degree. C. and to which an acid has been added in an amount such that the reaction mixture is brought to a pH of from 6.5 to 0.8, the temperature being maintained at from 40.degree. to 100.degree. C., the reaction mixture is kept at from 90.degree. to 100.degree. C. for from 10 to 80 minutes and cooled, and I is then isolated.
Abstract: A tape cassette has a housing, at least one tape reel, a front wall and a pressure spring for exerting a spring force on the tape reel(s). The pressure spring is held, e.g. jammed or wedged, between the front wall and a connecting pin connecting parts of the housing together by means of anchoring means forming part of the spring itself.

Abstract: Novel 2-aminopyrazines and processes for the preparation of 2-aminopyrazines and pyrazines by reaction of an .alpha.-iminodiacetonitrile (a) with a hydrogen halide or (b) with an alcohol or a thioalcohol and a hydrogen halide or (c) with an alcohol or a thioalcohol in the presence of an alkali metal compound and/of an alkaline earth metal compound. The 2-aminopyrazines and pyrazines obtainable by the process of the invention are useful starting materials for the preparation of dyes, fungicides, bactericides, textile assistants, scents, folic acid derivatives, flavorings, and active ingredients in crop protection and drugs.
Abstract: Catalysts, in particular for the detoxification of automobile exhaust gases, are prepared by a process in which the active components and the promoters are applied onto a carrier by vapor deposition under very greatly reduced pressure. The carriers used are advantageously in the form of nets or woven fabrics.The catalyst fabrics coated by vapor deposition are pressed together to form catalyst packets for installation in the reactor, and the shape of the catalyst packets is adapted to the flow conditions in the reactor.

Abstract: A heat-hardenable binder mixture based on organic resins comprises an organic resin having primary and/or secondary and, if appropriate, also additional tertiary amino groups and a crosslinking agent based on an organic compound which contains at least 2 .beta.-hydroxyalkyl ester groups. The binder mixture can additionally contain pigments, fillers, crosslinking catalysts, corrosion inhibitors and other paint auxiliaries. The binder mixture is used in a process for preparing coatings by applying a coating agent in the form of a film to a substrate and subsequently hardening the film by stoving.
Abstract: This invention relates to thickened high-viscosity water based hydraulic fluids. Such fluids are prepared by blending water, organic thickener and conventional hydraulic fluid additives. Organic thickeners tend to lose their thickening effect with time, and particularly when subjected to oxidizing agents, heat, prolonged use in a pump, etc. In accordance with the instant invention, preservation of the thickener, particularly with respect to viscosity loss, is achieved by blending with the final fluid a fluid concentrate, or the thickener itself, a compound selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, propylene glycol polymers and copolymers containing at least 50 percent by weight of oxypropylene groups, a dimercaptothiadiazole, neodecanoic acid, a hindered phenol antioxidant and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: Sugar ketals are prepared by reacting a sugar with a ketone in the presence of an acid catalyst by a process in whichA. a molecular boron trifluoride compound or trifluoromethanesulfonic acid is used in an amount of only from 0.01 to 10% by weight, based on the sugar used,B. up to a 30-fold molar excess of the ketone is used andC. the water formed during the reaction is removed continuously from the reaction mixture.In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the process, the boron trifluoride is used in the form of boron trifluoride etherate and, when the reaction is complete, this compound or the trifluoromethanesulfonic acid is rendered ineffective under non-aqueous conditions, after which the ketone is evaporated off and the reaction mixture is then subjected to fractional distillation. The process is particularly important for the reaction of L-sorbose with acetone to obtain 2,3:4,6-di-O-isopropylidene-L-sorbofuranose, which is required for the synthesis of ascorbic acid.
