  • Patent number: 4674271
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process and product thereof, and an apparatus, for converting a twisted, continuous filament, multifilament yarn into a staple-like yarn. The process is carried out by needling the yarn with a barbed needle in order to break yarn filaments. The broken yarn filaments protrude from the yarn after the needling process. The protruding filament ends give the resulting yarn the appearance of a spun yarn.

  • Patent number: 4673518
Abstract: This invention relates to synthetic polyether thickeners and thickened aqueous systems containing them. The thickeners are unique because they can be used in aqueous systems at less than ten percent weight concentration which will flow in a Vickers 104(C) Vane pump at use temperatures. These properties make them particularly useful for thickening hydraulic fluids used in high pressure vane and gear pumps. The thickeners are prepared by reacting conventional polyether polyols with alpha-olefin epoxides having an average of 6 to 12 total carbon atoms to obtain products with specific epoxide-to-hydroxyl ratios.

  • Patent number: 4671145
Abstract: Before being coated with the magnetizable material, the substrate plates are machined on a precision turning lathe in such a way that the annular surface provided for the storage area is convexly arched on both sides of the plate. For this purpose, the substrate plate, during machining, is held on the chuck in a concave arch of the annular surface and machined flat with a purely radial free movement of the cutting tool, or held on a flat chuck and turned down under a feed movement of the tool, which feed movement corresponds to the required convex arching of the annular surface. In the first machining method, the elastically deformed substrate plate, after removal from the chuck, loses tension and forms a convexly arched annular surface.
