Abstract: Aldehydes are obtained from the gaseous product of the hydroformylation of olefinically unsaturated compounds using a rhodium catalyst by a process (cf. FIG. 2) in which(a) this gaseous product is introduced, without being cooled or depressured, into a distillation column D,(b) the top fraction from this column is cooled in a condenser K so that the greater part of the aldehydes contained therein is condensed,(c) the condensate is separated, in a separator A, into a gas phase and a liquid phase,(d) the gas phase from A, after waste gas has been separated off, is again brought to the hydroformylation pressure by means of a compressor P, and is returned to the reactor as a recycle gas,(e) the liquid phase from A is returned to D, and(f) the aldehydes are taken off from column D as liquid bottom products and/or as a vaporous side stream.

Abstract: Diphenylmethane diisocyanate-based liquid polyisocyanate mixtures containing urethane groups and having an isocyanate content of from 12 to 30 percent by weight are obtained by reaction of a polyoxypropylene polyoxyethylene polyol containing 5 to 30 percent by weight of oxyethylene with diphenylmethane diisocyanate-based isocyanates. These polyisocyanate mixtures are storage stable at low temperature and yield flexible polyurethane foams having improved mechanical properties.
Abstract: Aminonitriles are prepared by reacting a nitrogen compound with formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide in the presence of an additional acid at a pH below 2 and at from 10.degree. to 70.degree. C., the concentration of the hydrogen cyanide during the reaction being not more than 3 per cent by weight, based on the reaction mixture. The aminoacetonitriles obtained by the novel process are valuable starting materials for the preparation of dyes, fungicides, bactericides, textile assistants, rubber additives, and auxiliaries used in water softening, cosmetics, the photographic industry, the paper industry and the electroplating industry.
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and circuit arrangements for changing the audio information in an audio/video recording/reproduction system and particularly in a color video system wherein the audio signals are inserted as sampling pulses of a time-multiplex system into the color video signal and particularly into a blanking interval of the signal and the recorded original audio signal is overwritten by a new audio signal. In preference the horizontal blanking interval of the video signal is used for this purpose, and in the case of a color video signal the color burst is displaced to the bottom of the horizontal blanking interval in order to free the back porch of the horizontal blanking interval for the audio signal. The circuit arrangements according to the invention contain corresponding circuit units which are suitably matched to the measures of the methd. The invention can be preferably used for color video systems without losing recording capacity on the recording medium.

Abstract: A heat-hardenable binder mixture based on organic resins comprises an organic resin having primary and/or secondary and, if appropriate, also additional tertiary amino groups and a crosslinking agent based on an organic compound which contains at least 2 .beta.-hydroxyalkyl ester groups. The binder mixture can additionally contain pigments, fillers, crosslinking catalysts, corrosion inhibitors and other paint auxiliaries. The binder mixture is used in a process for preparing coatings by applying a coating agent in the form of a film to a substrate and subsequently hardening the film by stoving.
Abstract: The invention relates to a selfcrosslinking heat-hardenable binder, in particular for electropaints, which is based on an organic synthetic resin which contains hydroxyl groups and esterified carboxyl groups in the form of carbalkoxymethyl ester groups and is water-dilutable by partial or complete acid-neutralization of amino groups present in the resin.

Abstract: Triaminotriarylmethane colorants are obtainable by first reacting an aluminum or iron trihalide complex of a 4,4',4"-trihalotriphenylmethyl halide with a metanilic acid, a sulfanilic acid or a .beta.-naphthylaminesulfonic acid and then reacting the product with one or more anilines to replace the halogen atoms located in the 4-positions.The compounds according to the invention are very useful as pigments, for example in printing inks, or for toning carbon black.
Abstract: The invention is related to unsaturated homo- and/or copolymerizable linear polyesters which are prepared from diols and at least one unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or its derivatives capable of forming esters. The polyesters contain as component (A) a diol with end-position hydroxyl groups and an average molecular weight of 700 to 1200; as component (B) one or more unsaturated dicarboxylic acids; and as component (C) a linear diol with 2 to 6 carbon atoms. The equivalent ratio of A:B is from about 0.8:1 to 1.2:1 and the equivalent ratio of C:(A+B) is from about 0.5:1 to 1:1.
Abstract: There are disclosed graft polyesters useful as adhesives and coatings and especially useful in processes for sizing spun and continuous filament synthetic organic and inorganic fibrous yarn. One embodiment of the invention is a textile size composition having free carboxyl groups which is prepared in situ on a textile yarn by the application of heat or radiation to a mixture of an unsaturated polyester reactant and a monovinyl monomer reactant comprising an acidic monovinyl monomer having at least one carboxyl group or mixtures thereof with any monovinyl monomer. Desizing can be accomplished by partial neutralization of the size to a pH of at least 6 by reacting the size with a base to render the graft polyester water-dispersible or water-soluble.
Abstract: A flange coupling for joining multi-layer apparatus sections or pipeline sections, in which corrosive and hot gases are handled, consists of an inner lining of glass which is resistant to thermal shock, or of quartz, which is surrounded by an outer metal jacket, the interspace between the outer jacket and the lining being packed with a heat-insulating material. In the region of the ends of the lining, refractory bricks which surround the lining, support it but do not touch it over the entire surface are provided between the lining and the outer jacket; the lining, at one or both ends, does not terminate flush with the refractory bricks, and the refractory bricks surrounding the lining terminate at least substantially flush with the surrounding outer jacket, the two ends of which each merge into a flange coupling.

Abstract: Mouthwashes are disclosed which utilize a polyoxyethylene-polyoxybutylene block copolymer wherein the polyoxybutylene portion of the compound has a molecular weight of at least about 500 and the polyoxyethylene portions contribute from about 50 to 90 percent by weight of the compound. Unexpectedly, the nonionic surfactants solubilize flavoring oils at temperatures below 8.degree. C. so that the mouthwash compositions of the invention remain clear and haze free even when stored at low temperatures.
