Abstract: A closure for protectively scaling a biological fluid collection device is disclosed. The closure includes a cap and an adapter or connector. The closure of the present disclosure allows for connection to multiple different blood collection devices. In a first configuration, with the cap connected to the adapter, the closure may be connected to a first blood collection device. In a second configuration, with the cap disconnected from the adapter, the closure may be connected to a second blood collection device. An advantage of the closure of the present disclosure is that it enables a single closure device to accommodate a variety of connection options, hi one embodiment, the closure includes a barrier in communication with a portion of the cap, and the barrier protectively shields a portion of the stopper and/or protectively shields a portion of the cap.

Abstract: Disclosed herein include systems, devices, and methods for determining a gating strategy. An acquisition system can cause a particle analyzer to collect parameter measurements of some particles of a sample. An analysis system can receive the parameter measurements and determine a gating strategy from the parameter measurements. The acquisition can collect measurements of some or all of the remaining particles of the sample using the gating strategy determined by the analysis system.

Abstract: An extension set may include a tube, which may include a distal end, a proximal end, and an outer surface. The extension set may include a distal connector coupled to the distal end of the tube and/or a proximal connector coupled to the proximal end of the tube. The extension set may include a patency instrument disposed within the tube. The extension set may include a translation handle coupled to the outer surface of the tube. The translation handle may be configured to move along the outer surface of the tube between a proximal position and a distal position to translate the distal end of the patency instrument between a retracted position and an advanced position. In response to the distal end of the patency instrument being in the advanced position, the distal end of the patency instrument may extend beyond the distal end of the tube.

Abstract: A catheter assembly may include a catheter, catheter adapter, needle, needle guard, and housing. The housing may be coupled to the needle guard and disposed within a lumen of the catheter adapter. The needle guard may include first and second resilient arms, which may include first and second curved portions, respectively. When the needle is in a ready position, the first and second curved portions may be urged by a shaft of the needle into retaining contact with an inner wall of the catheter adapter. When the needle is in the retracted position, the shaft may no longer bias the first and second resilient arms outwardly such that the retaining contact between the first and second curved portions and the catheter adapter is released, and the housing and the needle guard enclose a distal tip of the needle.

Abstract: A device, system, and method for printing a vein map onto a patient's skin may include a probe and a printer. The probe may be configured to identify a location of a target vein beneath the patient's skin. The printer may be configured to receive the location and, using the location, print the vein map onto the patient's skin to indicate the location. The vein map may comprise antimicrobial ink printed onto the patient's skin with one or more colors and/or one or more patterns. The vein map may be a two-dimensional vein map or a three-dimensional vein map that indicates the location of the target vein within the patient, a width of the target vein, and/or a depth of the target vein within the patient.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cap for a medical connector. More specifically, the present invention related to an antimicrobial cap for placement over a connector, wherein various features of the antimicrobial cap maintain the connector in an antiseptic state.

Abstract: A catheter system may include a needleless connector, which may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a valve disposed between the distal end of the needleless connector and the proximal end of the needleless connector. The catheter system may include a vent assembly, which may include a proximal component and a distal component. The proximal component may include a male luer adapter, which may include a male luer. The distal component may include a distal end coupled to the proximal end of the needleless connector, and a proximal end coupled to the male luer adapter. In response to movement of the proximal component from a proximal position to a distal position with respect to the distal component, the male luer of the male luer adapter may open the valve to vent air inside the catheter system.
Abstract: A male needless connector having a tapered elongate tip and a collar compliant with ISO standards, the collar having an outer sidewall surface with a plurality of threads for connection to corresponding inner threads of a pen needle. The male needleless connector having a taper between a distal end of the elongate tip and an inner sidewall of the elongate tip. The male needless connector being configured to receive a pen needle.
Abstract: A flush syringe for use in maintaining intravenous catheters, wherein the flush syringe can more efficiently and effectively flush the catheters by providing a pulsating, pulsatile, and/or pulsative flow of fluid that can be produced using momentum of the fluid moving. A steady force applied to a plunger while flushing can provide the pulsating, pulsatile, and/or pulsative flow of the fluid to the catheters.
Abstract: The lancet device includes a housing and a lancet having a puncturing element. The lancet is disposed within the housing and is adapted for axial movement between an initial or pre-actuated position wherein the puncturing element is retained within the housing, and a puncturing position wherein the puncturing element extends through a forward opening in the housing. The lancet device includes a drive spring disposed within the housing for biasing the lancet toward the puncturing position, and a retraction or return spring for returning the lancet to a position within the housing where the puncturing element is disposed within the housing. The retraction spring thereafter maintains engagement with the lancet to assist in preventing the puncturing element from again projecting outward from the forward opening in the housing.
