    Abstract: Systems and methods are presented to support operation of a multiple subscriber identity module (SIM) device. A timing conflict may exist when a scheduled high priority communication of a first SIM overlaps with a scheduled paging monitoring activity for a second SIM. The multiple SIM device may preempt transitioning communication resources to the second SIM when the first SIM executes high priority communications. Or, the multiple SIM device may execute a rescheduling action to resolve the timing conflict. The high priority communication of the first SIM may be rescheduled. Alternatively, normal priority paging monitoring actions may be rescheduled to resolve the timing conflict.

    Abstract: Wireless communication devices are disclosed that are capable of selecting and changing signal polarities depending on channel conditions in order to improve or optimize communication therebetween. When a first polarization direction is deemed inadequate, the devices can switch to communicating via a second polarization. In addition, information relating to received signal qualities in the different polarizations can be stored in each device to allow for quick and efficient exchanges between configurations. Finally, when conditions warrant, the devices can enter a dynamic polarization configuration in which signal polarizations are switched rapidly so as to enjoy benefits of diversity.

The registration update communication may include a periodic location update, a periodic routing update, or a periodic tracking update. The multiple SIM device may identify the transition time by obtaining periodic registration timing information from the network controller, configuring a periodic registration timer based on the periodic registration timing information, and setting the transition time as an expiration time of the periodic registration timer.

During the second SIM's data transfer or voice call, paging transition times are identified to transition communication resources to the first SIM for use in monitoring paging indicators. The transition time may be short so as to limit the impact on the second SIM's data transfer or voice call. When the first SIM receives a paging indicator indicating an incoming call, the device may retrieve caller identification information of the incoming call and automatically reject the incoming call. The communication resource may be returned to the second SIM to continue the data transfer or voice call.

In order to reduce power consumption and/or improve energy efficiency, one or more of the uplink communication rate and/or the downlink communication rate may be lowered. The power consumption may be reduced for a multi-rate PHY, a host computer and/or a MAC controller.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system for retaining M bits of state data of an integrated circuit during power down includes M serially coupled scan flip flops divided into M/N groups, where the M scan flip flops are able to save/restore the M bits of state data. Each group contains a merged scan flip flop coupled to a series of scan flip flops. The merged scan flip flop in each of the groups is coupled to a respective read port of a memory unit, and a final scan flip flop in each of the groups is coupled to a respective write port of the memory unit. The system enables the memory unit to save the M bits of state data in N clock cycles. Each merged scan flip flop has a read select input that enables restoring of the state data into the M scan flip flops in N clock cycles.

The SSS decoding may be performed according to corresponding PSS detection. Cell-specific information such as cell ID information and/or Cyclic Prefix (CP) length is acquired per MFH branch based on corresponding PSS detection and SSS decoding. Subsequently, the mobile device selects a particular MFH branch with a maximum PSS correlation peak over the entire MFH branches. The cell-specific information from the selected MFH branch is utilized for communications within a corresponding cell if the information is detected consistently. The mobile device compares cell ID information and/or CP length information over the remaining MFH branches for consistency check.

The delays may be controlled based on whether one or more energy efficiency features are enabled in the PHY. The delay introduced by the PHY for inbound traffic may be controlled based on an amount of buffered outbound traffic. The delays may be controlled such that said receive latency and the transmit latency are approximately constant regardless of a mode of operation of the network device.
