Abstract: While receiving content for a service at a user device via a particular delivery route, detecting a request for delivery of subsequent content for the service via a secure alternate delivery route. The user device may concurrently receive delivery of the subsequent content via the particular delivery route and the secure alternate delivery route. The detected request may be generated based on QoS associated with the received content of the service. The detected request may be received from a communication network and may comprise identification information for the particular delivery route. The secure alternate delivery route may be determined based on the identification information for the particular delivery route. A communication session profile may be generated and/or determined based on the secure alternate delivery route. The communication session profile is utilized for the requested delivery of the further content via the secure alternate delivery route.
Abstract: Various systems and methods providing high speed decoding, enhanced power reduction and clock domain partitioning for a multi-pair gigabit Ethernet transceiver are disclosed. ISI compensation is partitioned into two stages; a first stage compensates ISI components induced by characteristics of a transmitter's partial response pulse shaping filter in a demodulator, a second stage compensates ISI components induced by characteristics of a multi-pair transmission channel in a Viterbi decoder. High speed decoding is accomplished by reducing the DFE depth by providing an input signal from a multiple decision feedback equalizer to the Viterbi based on a tail value and a subset of coefficient values received from a unit depth decision-feedback equalizer. Power reduction is accomplished by adaptively truncating active taps in the NEXT, FEXT and echo cancellation filters, or by disabling decoder circuitry portions, as channel response characteristics allow.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products to synchronize timing of data transmissions between wireless and wired networks using a combined wireless gateway and cable modem are provided herein. The method includes the step of generating an indicator prior to a look-ahead time period and transmitting a poll to a wireless device upon sending the indicator. The look-ahead time period is a time period from transmitting the indicator to transmitting the DOCSIS frame. The method further includes the step of receiving data from the wireless device and encapsulating the data in a DOCSIS format to generate a DOCSIS frame. The method also includes transmitting the DOCSIS frame at a start of a next transmit opportunity to a cable modem termination system (CMTS).
Abstract: This disclosure introduces the concept of a strategy for a Convolutional Turbo Code decoder to make a prediction with regards to the likelihood of convergence. If a failure of convergence appears likely, the decoding process is aborted, The predictions regarding failure of convergence are made at the end of each half-iteration in a decoding process, leading to more efficient use of decoders in a system.
Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that is capable of performing efficient measurements of secondary radio access technologies (RATs). The device includes multiple receiver chains. While operating in a first RAT, the device receives a measurement gap in order to perform measurements. Even though the measurement gap may be too small to adequately measure the other RAT, the device controls one of the receiver chains to measure the other RAT during a time period that overlaps with the measurement gap. In addition, when preparing for an inter-RAT handoff, the device controls one of the receiver chains to perform measurements regardless of whether a measurement gap has been received. In this manner, measurements of alternative RATs are efficiently performed, and handoff latency is significantly reduced.

The processor issues commands via the port to control at least one of the tuner and the demodulator based on instructions received via the interface from the second processor.
Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that is capable of performing efficient network searching. Specifically, by utilizing its location information and accessing stored cell information, the device can streamline searching. Further, if a full search is to be performed, the device receives information from multiple radio access technologies together, and processes the received information digitally in order to search the individual radio access technologies. In addition, the device is capable of performing efficient 4G searches by setting its RF module to capture information of multiple raster points simultaneously within a search band, and shifting the search band so as not to duplicatively search raster points.

Abstract: A wireless receiver is disclosed that is capable of efficiently selecting a preferred transmission/detection scheme for use in wireless communication. The wireless receiver may be capable of communicating using any one of several transmission/detection schemes. Therefore, in order to select a preferred transmission/detection scheme, the wireless receiver calculates at least one metric for the transmission/detection schemes. In MIMO systems, the link adaptation is more complex and the metrics typically must be more accurate. Because of the potentially substantial amount of calculation that may be required to calculate the metric, the wireless receiver is capable of performing the individual calculations in optimized ways, as well as easily reducing the total number of metrics required to be calculated so as to reduce overall complexity.

Abstract: Methods and systems for removing interference from strongly powered SSS sequences in a received signal so that comparatively weakly powered SSS sequences in the received signal can be detected are disclosed. The methods and systems can perform a first cell search using the received signal to detect a strongly powered SSS sequence. Using a known SSS sequence corresponding to the strongly powered SSS sequence, the channel over which the strongly powered SSS sequence is received can be estimated. The estimated channel can then be used to determine the contribution of the strongly powered SSS and PSS sequence to the received signal so that it can be canceled. With the contribution of the strongly powered SSS and PSS sequence canceled from the received signal, a second cell search can be performed using the received signal to detect a weakly powered SSS sequence.
Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that is capable of utilizing multiple radio access technologies (RATs) in various coordinated ways so as to optimize, and enhance the versatility, of the device's communication capabilities. One or more RATs may be selected for use, either alone or in cooperation with each other, based on various conditions, such as channel conditions, traffic, data type, and priority. When conditions change, the originally-selected communication scheme may no longer be preferred. Consequently, the device can initiate a handover to another communication scheme. Transmitters corresponding to RATs that are not currently selected are controlled to enter a low-power state in order to conserve power. However, in some circumstances, the device may utilize both RATs simultaneously.

Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that is capable of reduced power consumption. Uplink and downlink sub-frames in a WiMAX, 802.16m or LTE environment often include several vacant symbols during which power-hungry hardware and software components need not operate at full power. By analyzing a physical layer beacon and control information of a received signal, the specific locations of data bursts can be determined, as well as periods of needed operation of a receiver module to effectively decode those data bursts. The receiver module can otherwise be controlled to operate in a LOW power state during remaining periods of vacant time, thereby conserving power consumption and extending battery life.

Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that is capable of performing efficient handoffs in order to maximize connection time with either a serving or target base station. The wireless communication device performs measurements of only intra-frequency base stations to avoid retuning its radio module. Based on this information, as well as stored information relating to nearby base stations, the serving base station is able to estimate a position of the wireless communication device and compare the estimated position to positions of the known base stations in order to make a handoff decision. In addition, by storing information during measurement or handoff preparation, the device is capable of skipping handoff steps, immediately return to the serving base station after handoff failure, and/or perform streamlined PLMN searching.

The initialized values may be updated during a plurality of iterations, and the update may be repeated whenever a specified number of the plurality of iterations is reached.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided to calibrate an oscillator circuit to reduce frequency pulling as a result of a change in power to a portion of the oscillator circuit. In an embodiment, an oscillator is coupled to a clock buffer circuit and a tuning capacitor configured to tune a frequency of the oscillator to a baseline frequency required for cellular communications. A change in power to the clock buffer circuit initiates a change in an amount of capacitance seen by the oscillator, which negatively impacts the tuning of the oscillator. A register stores a frequency offset caused by the change in power, and the tuning capacitor is adjusted, using the frequency offset, in response to the change in power, such that the total amount of capacitance seen by the oscillator is not changed when the change in power occurs.
