Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are provided for managing flow of datagram traffic, generally across networks. According to some of these methods, a flow control mechanism is used to avoid over-subscription of some ports without pausing extended areas of a network. According to other methods, a congestion control mechanism is used to minimize datagram traffic between a port sending datagrams to an over-subscribed port and the over-subscribed port itself.

Abstract: A method and system are provided in which a multimedia processor comprises a first portion associated with a first of a plurality of power domains and a second portion associated with a second of the plurality of power domains. The first portion and the second portion of the multimedia processor are integrated on a single substrate. Data may be transferred from the first portion to the second portion and, upon completing the transfer, the first portion may be powered down and state information associated with it stored. The state information may be stored in an external SDRAM. The data in the second portion of the multimedia processor may be transferred to an external device through a peripheral module in the second portion. When a trigger event associated with the data transfer to the external device occurs, the first portion may be powered up and rebooted using the stored state information.
Abstract: A game controller with a communications interface, at least one touch sensitive pad having a plurality of touch sensitive elements, and processing circuitry coupled to the communications interface and the at least one touch sensitive pad. The processing circuitry enacts touch pad configuration settings that correlate subsets of the plurality of touch sensitive elements to respective distinct user input locations. The processing circuitry receives touch pad input from the at least one touch sensitive pad. The touch pad input corresponds to a user's touch of at least some of the plurality of touch sensitive elements. The processing circuitry processes the touch pad input to determine user input directions based upon the touch pad configuration settings, and then transmits the touch pad input directions to a game console via the communications interface for use as gaming input.

Abstract: A system and method that provide reduced latency in a video signal processing system. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise transmitting a first video information stream representative of a unit of video information. For example, the transmitted first video information stream may correspond to a video channel. A second video information stream representative of the unit of video information may be transmitted simultaneously with the first video information stream. The second video information stream may also, for example, correspond to the video channel. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise receiving a plurality of simultaneously transmitted video information streams. A video information stream of the plurality of received video information streams may be identified that, when processed, is expected to result in the lowest latency in presenting the unit of video information to the user. The identified video information stream may then be so processed.

Abstract: A content addressable memory (CAM) system configured for reduced power consumption and increased speed includes a plurality of bit cells implementing a stacked architecture. Each bit cell comprises a pair of stacked storage elements in a first column and a compare circuit, coupled to the pair of stacked storage elements and a matchline of the CAM system, situated in a second column. The stacked architecture results in a reduced matchline length, thereby reducing CAM system power consumption and increasing CAM system speed. In a further embodiment, a content addressable memory (CAM) system configured for reduced power consumption and increased speed includes storing encoded data in a pair of stacked storage elements.
Abstract: Presented herein is a system and method for decoding flexibly ordered macroblocks. Slice groups are received, wherein the slice groups comprise non-contiguous macroblocks with respect to raster scan order. Each macroblock is associated with a particular context which serially provides each macroblock to a processor for decoding. The decoder selectively decodes the macroblock from the first context or second context, depending on which context includes the next macroblock in raster scan order.
Abstract: Drivers which control hardware devices in a network adapter chip are disabled prior to reducing power to a first portion of circuits in the network adapter chip. Power is received by a second portion of circuits which are utilized for detecting network activity and communicating the activity to processors. Upon network activity detection, the first portion of circuits receives power. Drivers are enabled subsequent to detection. Drivers are enabled after receiving power by the first portion of circuits. Processors control hardware devices, disable devices before power reduction, enable devices after network activity detection and enable devices after receiving power. The network adapter chip is reset for power reception. A power reduction mode is selected where drivers are disabled after reducing power. Drivers are enabled after hardware devices are enabled. A first state is characterized by no signal before disabling drivers. A second state is characterized by signal detection before receiving power.
Abstract: Embodiments provide improved systems and methods of gain control and calibration for wireless transmitters. In particular, embodiments allow linear gain control over the entire transmitter gain control range, independent of temperature/process variations. Embodiments require very low power consumption compared to existing approaches. Embodiments may also be used for gain control calibration during production time, thereby substantially reducing production calibration time and cost.
Abstract: A system for mitigating impairment in a communication system includes a delay block, a signal level block, a moving average window block, an impulse noise detection block, and a combiner. The delay block receives and delays each chip of a plurality of chips in a spreading interval. The signal level block determines a signal level of each chip of the plurality of chips in the spreading interval. The moving average window block determines a composite signal level for a chip window corresponding to the chip. The impulse noise detection block receives the signal level, receives the composite signal level, and produces an erasure indication for each chip of the plurality of chips of the corresponding chip window. The combiner erases chips of the plurality of chips of the spreading interval based upon the erasure indication.
