  • Patent number: 9467752
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for handling transition errors is presented herein. The transition errors include handling unreported time base discontinuities during trick mode transition, miscalculated time stamps during trick mode transition, erroneous sequence end codes, and unreported broken group of picture transmission. Unreported time base discontinuities are detected by comparing the program clock reference (PCR) value of the data packet to the system time clock (STC). If the difference exceeds a predetermined threshold, the STC is set to the PCR value. Miscalculated time stamps are detected by examining the difference in PTS values between temporally adjacent data packets. If the difference is not within a margin of error from predetermined value, the PTS is disabled. Unreported broken groups of pictures are handled by skipping the first two B-frames of the first group of pictures following a trick mode transition.

  • Publication number: 20160294533
Abstract: To provide for higher data rates, a wireless back haul network for connecting small cell base stations to a core network can be implemented using full-duplex over single channel communications. The difficulty with full-duplex over single channel communications, and the reason why it has not become common place in wireless and mobile communication standards to date, is the significant interference that the receiver of a full-duplex communication device will generally experience from the full-duplex communication device's own transmitter transmitting over the same channel that the receiver is to receive signals. This interference is referred to as self-interference because the interference experienced by the receiver originates from its own paired transmitter. The present disclosure describes embodiments of an apparatus and method that provide sufficient self-interference cancellation in a compact and power efficient manner for a small cell wireless backhaul network.

  • Patent number: 9462515
Abstract: In a Long Term Evolution (LTE) environment, the LTE network can coordinate with a subscribing user equipment to manage offloading to a wireless local area network (WLAN) access point or other base station. In doing so, the serving base station on the LTE network can acquire device capabilities of the user equipment and provide configuration details to the user equipment based on those capabilities. These configuration details may cause the user equipment to monitor one or more triggers, and may configure a scan to be later performed by the user equipment. Based on the monitored trigger, the user equipment can then scan the environment according to the scan configuration defined by the base station, and relay scan results to the base station to make a handover determination.

  • Patent number: 9461809
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for extended range Ethernet link discovery signaling are provided. A local PHY may detect of one or more active twisted-pair wires in a remote PHY in extended range applications. The local PHY may determine whether to operate as a master or slave based on detected pairs. When operating as a master device, the local PHY may correct twisted-pair wire swap information received from the remote PHY before communicating an encoded link length value to the remote PHY. When operating as a slave device, the local PHY may transmit encoded twisted-pair wire swap information to the remote PHY before recovering a link length value communicated from the remote PHY. The local PHY may communicate supported operating modes based on the link length value to the remote PHY. Moreover, the local PHY may enable establishing a common full duplex operating mode with the remote PHY.

  • Patent number: 9462593
Abstract: A framework for enabling a user equipment (UE) to apply interference suppression processing during network conditions that are favorable to interference suppression or that are known is provided. The framework includes an interference suppression (IS) time and frequency (time/frequency) zone, which can be scheduled by a serving base station and signaled to the UE. In an embodiment, the serving base station coordinates with the interfering base station(s) to create a network condition favorable to interference suppression at the UE during the IS time/frequency zone. In another embodiment, the serving base station opportunistically schedules the IS time/frequency zone for the UE whenever it determines favorable transmission parameters being used or scheduled for use by the interfering base station(s). The UE applies interference suppression processing within the IS time/frequency zone, thereby improving receiver performance.

  • Patent number: 9459646
Abstract: A scaled voltage supply to supply voltage biases to circuits in voltage zones. The scaled voltage supply includes a master voltage corresponding to a voltage drop across a master-upper rail having a voltage Vdd and a master-lower rail having a voltage Vss=0. Further, the supply includes a voltage-divider network dividing the master voltage Vdd into intermediate voltages ?Vdd, ?Vdd, etc., wherein ? and ? are predetermined constants. These intermediate voltages scale with the master voltage and are supplied to the voltage zones using non-invasive soft rails. In one implementation the soft rails use voltage mirrors to supply the intermediate voltages to the circuits within voltage zones.

  • Patent number: 9462296
Abstract: A video receiver is operable to receive three-dimensional (3D) video bitstreams from a video transmitter. The received 3D video bitstreams comprises a plurality of video frames and corresponding coding information. The coding information, for example, block motion vectors, block coding modes, quantization levels, and/or quantized residual data, is extracted for performing frame-rate up-conversion on the received plurality of video frames. The coding information is generated at the video transmitter via entropy decoding on a compressed 3D video from a video feed from, for example, an IP TV network. When an uncompressed 3D video is received, the video receiver is operable to perform frame-rate up-conversion on the received uncompressed 3D video using extracted block motion vectors and associated confidence-consistence measure. When a compressed 3D video is received, the video receiver is configured to perform video decompression on the received compressed 3D video prior to the frame-rate up-conversion.
