Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in order to allow an uplink resource request to be transmitted to the access point even in an instance in which the mobile terminal is receiving a continuous downlink transmission and repeated ACK/NACK transmissions are enabled. In this regard, a method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to prioritize a preamble transmission for a random access procedure relative to the repeated ACK/NACK transmissions. The method, apparatus and computer program also prioritize at least one message of the random access procedure.
Abstract: A communication device is configured to receive a message that indicates request opportunity parameter(s). Based on the request opportunity parameter(s), the communication device is configured to generate and transmit a transmission request within one of two or more request opportunities (e.g., 2, 3, 4, etc. or generally N request opportunities such that N is a positive integer greater than or equal to 2) indicated by the request opportunity parameter(s). The two or more request opportunities are included within mini-slot(s) that span OFDM sub-carrier(s) of OFDM or OFDMA framing. A given mini-slot spans an OFDM or OFDMA frame, and a mini-slot is divided into any desired number of portions (e.g., 2, 3, 4, etc. or generally N portions) such that each of the request opportunities within that mini-slot occupies a common fraction of the mini-slot (e.g., each occupies ½, ?, ¼, etc. or generally 1/N of the mini-slot).
Abstract: While a computer system is in operational state, a network interface controller (NIC) in the computer system may be operable to copy select data to a secondary storage device. The secondary storage device is accessible by the NIC while the computer system is in an offline state or not operational. The NIC may be operable to provide remote accessibility to the copy of the select data stored in the secondary storage device over a network while the computer system is in the offline state and the NIC is supplied with electrical power and active. While the computer system is in the operational state and whenever a change is made to the select data, the NIC is operable to replace the copy of the select data stored in the secondary storage device with an updated copy of the select data based on the change.
Abstract: A programmable cell includes a split gate structure. The split gate structure includes a thin gate dielectric region and a thick gate dielectric region disposed below a gate conductor. A thickness of the thick oxide region is more than a thickness of the thin oxide region. The programmable cell can be fabricated using angle doping to dope an area associated with the thin dielectric region.
Abstract: A system implements rate control for encoding and decoding operations, for example, operations performed on slices of data such as image data. The system implements a transformation from actual buffer fullness to rate controlled fullness. With the rate controlled fullness model, the encoders and decoders adapt bit allocation responsive to rate controlled fullness, instead of the actual fullness.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system that identifies an even delimiter in a forward error correction (FEC)-coded Ethernet frame. The system receives an FEC-coded Ethernet frame that includes the even delimiter, which is a predetermined sequence that separates a conventional Ethernet frame and FEC parity bits in the FEC-coded Ethernet frame. Next, the system scans a bit stream of the FEC-coded Ethernet frame. Then, the system determines a first Hamming distance between a first consecutive set of frame bits in the bit stream and the even delimiter. The system also determines a second Hamming distance between a second consecutive set of frame bits in the bit stream and the even delimiter. Both the first and second Hamming distances are shorter than a predefined value. The system subsequently selects one of the first and second sets of frame bits having the shorter Hamming distance as the even delimiter.
Abstract: A system and method for a flexible number of lookups in pipeline-based packet processors. Pipeline-based packet processors can be configured to allow multiple lookups per physical table. In one embodiment, a start of packet (SOP) cell is assigned to a first slot of a packet processing pipeline, and a non-SOP cell is assigned to a second slot of a packet processing pipeline. Access of a table by the second slot can be usurped by the SOP cell in the first slot.
Abstract: Embodiments for a hybrid multi-touch capacitive (MTC) and active stylus touch device are provided. Embodiments enable various ways for reusing system resources to enable simultaneous detection of conducting objects in contact with the device and/or active styluses in proximity to the device. In an embodiment, receiver channels are reused in a time multiplexed manner between an MTC mode and an active stylus mode of operation. In another embodiment, the use of system resources, including receiver channels, is adjusted based on the presence/absence of conducting objects and/or active styluses. Embodiments for improving the detection of conducting objects and/or active styluses are also provided, including embodiments for reducing the interference between conducting objects and active styluses.
Abstract: A method for transcoding a video file bit stream in parallel at a sub picture latency and faster than real time rate includes writing to a memory a processed raw pixel data stream. The processed raw pixel data stream is expressed as a sequence of pictures. Each picture is divided into a first sub picture partition and a second sub picture partition. A first encoder encodes each first sub picture partition, the first encoder being communicatively coupled to the memory. A second encoder encodes each second sub picture partition, the second encoder being communicatively coupled to the memory.
Abstract: A video reception device, comprising a single video decoder, may dynamically allocate media-processing resources based on QoS parameters associated with the received time-sensitive and non-time-sensitive video streams. The single video decoder is utilized to decode the content of the received time-sensitive and non-time-sensitive video streams for display. The QoS parameters associated with the received time-sensitive and non-time-sensitive video streams are mapped to corresponding media-processing resource requirements at the video reception device. The video reception device performs resource allocation for the received time-sensitive and non-time-sensitive video streams based on the corresponding media-processing resource requirements. Multi-dimensional resources allocation metrics are selected or formed from the corresponding associated QoS parameters for media-processing resource allocation. The video reception device starts resource allocation for the received time-sensitive video streams.

Abstract: Selective processing of one or more packets to be transmitted from a wireless communication device to another wireless communication device is effective to reduce the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmission. The one or more packets are transmitted via two or more sub-bands of an available transmission medium. The number of coefficients or factors within that sequence corresponds to the number of sub-bands via which the one or more packets are to be transmitted. Also, a phase ramp or time-domain cyclic shift may be added to one or more of the packets after having undergone multiplication by one of the coefficients or factors within the sequence.
