Abstract: An integrated circuit using area reconfigurable cells of a standard cell library includes standard cells placed adjacent with one another in rows and columns. Each of the standard cells has a boundary type and each has a body having a first pair of opposite sides and a second pair of opposite sides orthogonal to the first pair of opposite sides. Each standard cell also has a spacer located adjacent to each of the first pair of opposite sides of the body. The spacer has a spacer type that corresponds to the boundary type of the standard cell. The spacer is removable from the standard cell when the spacer has a spacer type that matches another spacer of an adjacent standard cell.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided to provide for timely switching between antenna port configurations as the mode of operation of a mobile terminal changes which may, in turn, dictate different combinations of the MIMO, CoMP and/or CA capabilities. In this regard, a method is provided that includes utilizing one or more antennas in a first antenna port configuration in a first mode of operation. The method may also receive a command that triggers switching to another antenna port configuration and then determines another one of a plurality of antenna port configurations to be utilized in response to the command. The method may then utilize one or more antennas of the another one of the antenna port configurations in a second mode of operation. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein that receive communications transmitted according to different operation modes at a multi-mode, programmable receiver system. The multi-mode, programmable receiver system may receive communication signals from transmit antennas in “cells” (e.g., base station transceivers and/or the like) according to one or more operation modes, using receive antennas. The received signals may be converted and processed by various modules of the multi-mode, programmable receiver system to produce an output signal. The multi-mode, programmable receiver system includes modules that are programmable to be selectively enabled or disabled according to an operation mode in accordance with which the multi-mode, programmable receiver system operates.

Abstract: A request for a unit of video information is received from a remote video receiver. An initial transmission rate for the unit of video information is determined based at least in part on a decoder model and a typical steady-state transmission rate for the unit of video information. The initial transmission rate is faster than the typical steady-state transmission rate. For a first time period after receiving the request, a first portion of the unit of video information is transmitted to the remote video receiver at the initial transmission rate. The first time period, the initial transmission rate, or both are determined so as not to overflow an input buffer that is based at least in part on the decoder model. For a second time period after the first time period, a second portion of the unit of video information is transmitted to the remote video receiver at the typical steady-state transmission rate.

A first near field communication (NFC) device is contained in the host device and is configured to be selectively coupled to one of the operating components. The first NFC device harvests energy from a second NFC device and converts the harvested energy to electrical power. The first NFC device receives information from the second NFC device and power on the operating component as a function of the information received from the second NFC device. The first NFC device transfers data to or from the operating component when the operating component is powered on. The method includes the steps of receiving a first packet of a stream of packets and processing the first packet using a slow processing path. The method also includes the steps of examining a network layer or transport layer of the first packet to determine whether a protocol used by the stream of packets is relevant, and transferring subsequent packets in the stream to a fast processing path if the protocol used is not relevant. The method further includes the steps of examining an application layer of a pre-determined number of packets subsequent to the first packet to determine whether a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) field of each of the pre-determined number of packets is relevant, and transferring packets subsequent to the pre-determined number of packets to a fast processing path if the URLs are not relevant.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that allow a deblocking filter and a sample adaptive offset (SAO) filter to be combined in a loop filter stage of a High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) decoder. In combining the deblocking filter and the SAO filter, an intermediate buffer may not be utilized, while still allowing for the deblocking filter and the SAO filter to operate substantially in parallel. The order of pixel processing and the parallelization of operation is such that the processing performed by the SAO filter need not hinder the processing performed by the deblocking filter within the loop filter stage. Additionally, and by combining the deblocking filter and the SAO filter without utilizing buffering therebetween, savings in space and cost in implementing the HEVC decoder may be realized.
