Abstract: A bitcell can include an insulating area, a first doping, a second doping, and a gate terminal for the insulating area. The second doping can be proximate to the first doping and proximate to the insulating area. The second doping can be characterized by a lower threshold voltage than the first doping. The bitcell can be configured for programming by a voltage on the gate terminal that results in a conductive hole selectively burned in the insulating area between the gate terminal and the first doping.

Abstract: Angle of arrival and/or range estimation within a wireless communication device. Appropriate processing of communications received by a wireless communication device is performed to determine the angle of arrival of the communication (e.g., with respect to some coordinate basis of the wireless communication device). Also, appropriate processing of the communications may be performed in accordance with range estimation as performed by the wireless communication device to determine the distance between the transmitting and receiving wireless communication devices. There are two separate modes of packet processing operations that may be performed: (1) when contents of the received packet are known, and (2) when contents of the received packet are unknown. The wireless communication device includes a number of antenna, and a switching mechanism switches from among the various antennae capitalizing on the spatial diversity of the antennae to generate a multi-antenna signal.

Abstract: Methods are disclosed for automatically monitoring and controlling at least one media peripheral device in a media exchange network. A communication link is established between a media management system (MMS) and a media peripheral (MP) device in the media exchange network and an operation of the MP device is automatically selected via the MMS over the communication link. Finally, the operation of the MP device is automatically carried out (i.e., performed). Also, after establishing a communication link between a media management system (MMS) and a media peripheral (MP) device in the media exchange network, at least one status parameter of the MP device may be automatically monitored via the MMS over the communication link. The status parameter may be automatically stored and/or displayed via the MMS.
Abstract: A system and method for Inter-Thread Communication using software interrupts in a multithread processor are disclosed. Bits in a shared control register and/or a private control register can enable an Inter-Thread Communication path. When the interrupt is triggered, one thread processor raises an interrupt in another thread processor.
Abstract: A communication system includes a supervisory node (e.g., a headend) and one or more remote nodes (e.g., cable modems). The supervisory node or a remote node monitors a characteristic associated with the communication system. Remote node transmits an upstream communication among a plurality of physical upstream channels based on the characteristic. The average transmit power used to transmit the upstream communication among the plurality of physical upstream channels is no greater than the average transmit power that would be necessary to transmit the upstream communication using a single physical upstream channel at a lower data rate.
Abstract: A premises based multimedia communication system includes a source device that produces multimedia content, a rendering device that presents the multimedia content, and a premises communication network coupling the source device to the rendering device. The source device receives data packets carrying the multimedia content from the remote content source via at least one remote delivery communication network and transmits at least two copies of the data packets carrying video frames of the multimedia content to the rendering device via the at least one premises communication network. The rendering device decodes video frames carried by first copies of the data packets.

Abstract: Certain aspects of a method and system for configuring a plurality of network interfaces that share a physical interface (PHY) may include a system comprising one or more physical network interface controllers (NICs) and two or more virtual NICs. One or more drivers associated with each of the virtual NICs that share one or more Ethernet ports associated with the physical NICs may be synchronized based on controlling one or more parameters associated with one or more Ethernet ports. One or more wake on LAN (WoL) patterns associated with each of the drivers may be detected at one or more Ethernet ports. A wake up signal may be communicated to one or more drivers associated with the detected WoL patterns. One of the drivers may be appointed to be a port master driver. If a failure of the appointed port master driver is detected, another driver may be appointed to be the port master driver.
Abstract: A method to prevent reception interference caused by inter-band CA is described. The method includes receiving instructions to concurrently operate on a first and second band. A first MPR is associated with the first band and a second MPR is associated with the second band. In response to determining that the concurrent operation on the first band and the second band would cause desensitization, a power adjustment is selected. The power adjustment includes a first A-MPR for the first band and/or a second A-MPR for the second band. In response to determining that the device can concurrently operate on the first band and the second band when the power adjustment is applied, the power adjustment is applied. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

Abstract: There are provided measures for cell search and synchronization. Such measures may exemplarily comprise acquiring an observation signal for a carrier signal on a carrier which is under consideration for synchronization with a desired cellular system, calculating a power measure of the observation signal, which indicates a received power of said carrier signal, calculating a non-circularity measure of the observation signal, which indicates a non-circularity of said carrier signal, and calculating a ranking measure, which indicates an applicability of said carrier for synchronization with the desired cellular system, based on the calculated power measure and the calculated non-circularity measure.
Abstract: User equipment with multiple subscriber identity modules (SIMs) includes techniques for intelligently allowing the SIMs to access the radio resources. In one aspect, the techniques determine whether a network signaling criteria is satisfied. When the network signaling criteria is satisfied, the user equipment may communicate a signaling connection release indication to a network controller handling a first SIM network connection. When the network signaling criteria is not satisfied, however, the user equipment may forgo communicating the signaling connection release indication to the network controller handing the first SIM network connection. In either case, the user equipment may locally deactivate the first SIM network connection so that the radio frequency interface may be transitioned to a second SIM.

Abstract: A portable device includes a touch screen that includes a display screen and that generates touch screen data in response to a user's interaction with the touch screen. A processor executes a security application for authenticating the user to the portable device that provides first display data to the touch screen for displaying a security prompt on the display screen. Touch screen data is received from the touch screen in response to the user's interaction with the touch screen and is processed to determine when an authentication shape is recognized as being indicated by the touch screen data. The user is authenticated to the portable device when the authentication shape is recognized as being indicated by the touch screen data.
Abstract: A system and method for integrating line-rate application recognition in a switch ASIC. Switching platforms can be built using this feature with a conventional control plane processor rather than a more expensive specialized processor. A deep packet inspection system can be embodied in a switch ASIC using a flow tracker and a signature matching engine. The flow tracker can be positioned in an ingress portion of the switch ASIC at a location where packets in a bi-direction flow can be observed and recorded. The flow tracker generates a signature match request that is forwarded to a signature matching engine in an auxiliary pipeline. The signature matching engine analyzes packets using signature matching state machine and reports the signature matching results to the flow tracker using a response packet that is sent to the ingress pipeline.

Abstract: Narrowband ingress estimation and characterization using equalizer taps. A equalizer including a feed forward equalizer (FFE) and a decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is implemented to process an input signal thereby generating an output signal. Analysis of the frequency response of the equalizer including the FFE and the DFE of the equalizer allows for the determination of whether or not narrowband ingress exists within the signal received by the equalizer. For example, analysis of the signal output from the equalizer provides for determination of the overall frequency response of the equalizer. In addition, analysis of the respective equalizer coefficients within one or both of the FFE and the DFE of the equalizer may be used to determine the overall frequency response of the equalizer. Narrowband ingress may be identified when the combination of the FFE (having a notch therein) and the DFE provides for an overall flat frequency response.

The two different supply voltages allow operation using multiple communication protocols such as 802.11n and 802.11ac within a common VCO circuit. The VCO can form part of a transceiver to provide frequencies in multiple bands.
