  • Patent number: 8724747
Abstract: A SAW-less receiver includes an FEM interface module, an RF to IF receiver section, and a receiver IF to baseband section. The RF to IF receiver section includes inverter based LNA modules, a mixing module, and transimpedance amplifier modules. The inverter based LNA modules amplify inbound RF signal to produce a positive leg current RF signal and a negative leg current RF signal. The mixing module converts the positive and negative leg current RF signals into an in-phase (I) mixed current signal and a quadrature (Q) mixed current signal. The transimpedance amplifier modules convert the I mixed current signal into an I mixed voltage signal and the Q mixed current signal into a Q mixed voltage signal. The receiver IF to baseband section converts the I and Q mixed voltage signals into one or more inbound symbol streams.

  • Patent number: 8724496
Abstract: A system and method for integrating line-rate application recognition in a switch ASIC. Switching platforms can be built using this feature with a conventional control plane processor rather than a more expensive specialized processor. A deep packet inspection system can be embodied in a switch ASIC using a flow tracker and a signature matching engine. The flow tracker can be positioned in an ingress portion of the switch ASIC at a location where packets in a bi-direction flow can be observed and recorded. The flow tracker generates a signature match request that is forwarded to a signature matching engine in an auxiliary pipeline. The signature matching engine analyzes packets using signature matching state machine and reports the signature matching results to the flow tracker using a response packet that is sent to the ingress pipeline.

Abstract: Preamble and header bit allocation for power savings within multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. Within a multi-user packet, information (e.g., partial address information) related to a recipient group of wireless communication devices (e.g., as few as one wireless communication device or any subset of a number of wireless communication devices, sometimes including all of the wireless communication devices) is emplaced within a PHY (e.g., physical layer) header of such a multi-user packet to be communicated within a multi-user (MU) environment. Such recipient indicating information can be encoded with relatively higher robustness (e.g., lower coding rates, lower ordered modulation, cyclic redundancy check (CRC), etc.) that remaining portions of the multi-user packet. • Publication number: 20140124940
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for semiconductor devices are provided herein. A semiconductor device includes an array of conductive pads for signals. One or more non-linear compliant springs may be present to route signals from the conductive pads to interconnect pads formed on the semiconductor device to attach bump interconnects. Each non-linear compliant spring may include one or more routing segments. The semiconductor device may be mounted to a circuit board by the bump interconnects. When the semiconductor device operates, heat may be generated by the semiconductor device, causing thermal expansion by the semiconductor device and the circuit board. The semiconductor device and circuit board may expand by different amounts due to differences in their thermal coefficients of expansion. The non-linear compliant springs provide for compliance between the conductive pads and bump interconnects to allow for the different rates of expansion.

  • Publication number: 20140125623
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that allow a touch sensor, such as a mutual capacitive touch panel, to switch from an operative transmit (TX) frequency at which the mutual capacitive touch panel is driven to an alternative TX frequency. When switching to an alternative TX frequency, an alternative baseline capacitance value corresponding to the alternative TX frequency may be utilized to determine whether a touch event has occurred on the mutual capacitive touch panel. Frame scans can be repeatedly performed at the operative TX frequency and the alternative TX frequency in rapid succession, and an average difference of the frame scans can be calculated and utilized to generate the alternative baseline capacitance value which may be insensitive to sudden ambient changes and moving touch events affecting the mutual touch capacitive panel.

Abstract: A receiver is optimized by adapting parameters of a linear equalizer component within the receiver. Data decisions and error decisions are generated. These data decision and error decisions are used to derive an error rate of data by measuring the number of margin hits that occur. A balance value is also calculated from the data decisions and the error decisions. The balance value is used to update parameters of the linear equalizer. The updating of the parameter continues until the number of margin hits has been minimized.

Abstract: A device includes ocular image processing features. The device obtains ocular image data without requiring artificial lenses to capture the ocular image data. The device may, for example, obtain sensor data from a touch sensor associated with a display, recognize ocular image data within the sensor data, and process the ocular image data for any reason. This processing may occur regardless of the fact that the intended purpose of the sensor data was not for ocular imaging, but was intended for another purpose, such as detecting touch interactions with the display.
