Abstract: Techniques for localized dynamic channel allocation help meet the challenges of latency, memory size, and channel time optimization for wireless communication systems. As examples, advanced communication standards, such as the WiGig standard, may support wireless docking station capability and wireless streaming of high definition video content between transmitting and receiving stations, or engage in other very high throughput tasks. The techniques help to deliver the desired user experience in such an environment and address the need to meet latency and throughput requirements while limiting memory footprint.

Abstract: Certain embodiments of the invention may be found in a method and system for processing messages. Aspects of the method may comprise receiving at least one signal on a chip that controls switching from a core processor to a DSP. At least a first bus that couples the core processor to a message processor and at least a first clock signal that clocks the core processor may be switched. At least a second bus that couples the DSP to the message processor and at least a second clock signal that clocks the DSP may be switched. When a loss of clock signal from the core processor or the DSP to the message processor is detected, a third clock signal for clocking the message processor may be generated. The message processor switch significantly reduces the amount of bandwidth utilized for transfer of data between the core processor and the DSP and provides incremental redundancy (IR) without high hardware cost and software MIPS, thereby providing significant improvement in system performance.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for reducing discovery time in a power over Ethernet (PoE) system where the nature of a load is known or can be safely assumed. By using prior knowledge of the nature of the load, the discovery procedure can be simplified. A power source device (PSE) controller measures a port voltage to determine if an open circuit exists or if a short circuit exists. If neither an open circuit or a short circuit exists, the system can be safely powered up.
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for providing complete Internet anywhere with partial server processing in which a request is sent from a set-top-box (STB) to a server communicatively coupled with the STB to process a portion of a web page that is unsupported by a web browser running on the STB. In one such method, the STB sends to the server an unsupported content request associated with a portion of a web page that is unsupported by a web browser executing on the STB. The STB receives a data stream from the server in response to the unsupported content request. The data stream was generated at the server by processing the unsupported portion of the web page. The STB composites the received data stream with another portion of the web page, that is supported by the web browser, to produce the web page.

Abstract: Embodiments reduce overhead in Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) networks by reducing the amount of switching among Optical Network Units (ONUs) done by the Optical Line Terminal (OLT). In one embodiment, Logical Link Identifiers (LLIDs) hosted by the same ONU are linked at the OLT such that the OLT grants same ONU LLIDs consecutively when appropriate. This reduces the optics related delay associated with switching among ONUS. At the same time, the linking of LLIDs hosted by the same ONU allows for data from multiple LLIDs to be grouped together within a single Forward Error Correction (FEC) block at the ONU, when appropriate, reducing FEC overhead.

Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for compensating for estimated distortion in a transmitter by utilizing a digital predistortion scheme with a single feedback mixer are presented. Aspects of the system may include at least one circuit that enables generation of an output signal in response to one or more generated input signals. A feedback signal may be generated within a single feedback mixer circuit that may perform a frequency mix-down operation on the generated output signal. The generated feedback signal may be inserted at one or more insertion points in a receiver. Each of the insertion points may be located between a mixer stage of the receiver, and one or more circuits that generate a baseband signal based on the generated feedback signal.

Abstract: Cellular processors are cascaded to provide different configurations, which result in higher-capacity base stations, increased numbers of simultaneous users over one frequency band, and/or aggregation of several carriers while still using only one radiofrequency (RF) chipset. The processors are aligned in both time and frequency, with each processor having a data port that allows data exchange with the other processors. The data alignment and exchange allow the processors, in the aggregate, to act as a single unit, resulting in a scalable architecture that can accommodate different system configurations.
Abstract: Interconnections between signal lines help to reduce signal skew between signals carried on the signal lines. The interconnections may be resistive interconnections, and the signal lines may be clock lines. In a memory controller, for example, resistive traces may connect adjacent clock lines. The resistive traces reduce the clock signal skew between the adjacent clock lines, and throughout the memory controller as a whole.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed to process a received single stream communication signal and/or a multiple stream communication. A communications receiver is configured to receive the received communication signal. A communications receiver determines whether the received communication signal includes a single stream communication signal or a multiple stream communication signal. The communications receiver determines whether a received communication signal complies with a known single stream communications standard. The communications receiver determines whether the received communication signal complies with a known multiple stream communications standard. The communications receiver decodes the received communication signal according to the known single stream communications standard upon determining the received communication includes the signal single stream communication signal.

In some embodiments, a set of measurement data that includes for each of a plurality of signals received at the base station a corresponding measurement data is determined. The set of measurement data is used to determine the geographic location of the base station. In some embodiments, a set of measurement data is received. The received measurement data includes for each of a plurality of location measurement units at which a signal transmitted by the base station is received a corresponding measurement data associated with the signal. The set of measurement data is used to determine the geographic location of the base station.

Abstract: A technique of using a remote control device to identify a source for transferring content on a home network, a renderer for rendering the content and a pathway within a home network to couple the source to the renderer to transfer the content. The remote control device then transmits control information to the source to set a control parameter value within the source to send the content and transmits control information to the renderer to set a control parameter value within the renderer to receive the content. The commands from the remote configure parameter values associated with a media layer in the source and/or the renderer to initiate a hand-shake to effect the content transfer, so that the source and the renderer need not initiate the hand-shake between themselves.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for sharing antenna allow an antenna to be shared simultaneously by two modems and a reduction in antenna count. The apparatus includes a first modem and a second modem and a switch system is arranged to selectively connect one of the first and second modems to a first antenna and selectively connect one of the first and second modems to a second antenna. A pass through output is associated with the first modem and arranged to selectively output at least a portion of a received signal to the second modem. The pass through output allows some or all of the received signal to be passed on to the second modem, so both modems can share same antenna at the same time.

Abstract: For an infinite number of transmit antennas at a base station (BS), matched filter (MF) precoding (a type of precoding used to perform SU-MIMO transmission) becomes optimal for performing spatial multiplexing. But observations have shown that precoding types for performing MU-MIMO transmission can perform significantly better than MF precoding for a realizable number of transmit antennas at the BS, even while using the simplest precoding types for MU-MIMO transmission. For large inter-cell interference typically encountered by user terminals (UTs) at or near the boundary of the cell served by the BS, MF precoding can still be used to eliminate or reduce the need for coordination among cells, which consumes network and back-haul resources.
