  • Patent number: 9424127
Abstract: Aspects of charger detection and optimization prior to host control are described herein. In various embodiments, a condition of whether reverse current is present on a system bus is detected. When the condition for reverse current is present, reverse current is sunk by one or more of various reverse current sink circuits. By relying upon one or more of the reverse current sink circuits, for safety, to address or mitigate the condition for reverse current, a detector may be able to identify or distinguish among several different types of charger or charging ports coupled to a system bus allowing a charger to be selected optimally. Further, an indicator of the type of charger or charging port coupled to the system bus is communicated over a single pin interface, for backwards compatibility with circuits capable of identifying between only two different types of chargers.

  • Patent number: 9426685
Abstract: A UE, in an idle mode, receives pilot signals and synchronization signals from a serving cell and neighbor cells comprising neighbor cells listed and/or unlisted in a neighboring cell list. The UE validates each of the serving cell, the listed neighbor cells and the unlisted neighbor cells from the received signals. The UE performs cell measurement on the listed cells as well as the unlisted cells for multipath profiles and associated power levels. In instances where number of attempts of the cell measurements on the unlisted cells exceeds a threshold value, the UE may validate presence of the unlisted cells. The best available cell is selected from the listed cells and the unlisted for the UE to camp on. I/Q samples of the received signals are stored while measuring or monitoring the cells. The stored I/Q samples may be utilized to carry out baseband procedures through offline processing.

  • Patent number: 9426664
Abstract: There is provided a mechanism for controlling communications conducted via different frequency bands or communication spectrums. When a communication via a first communication path, for example an unlicensed or white space communication spectrum, is to be established, e.g. for offloading traffic from a second communication path, for example a licensed cellular communication spectrum, a preamble transmission command is generated and transmitted from a communication network control element, such as an eNB, via the second communication path to a communication element, such as a UE. By means of the preamble transmission command, the transmission of a preamble signal by the receiving communication element on the first communication path with predetermined communication resources is triggered.

  • Publication number: 20160241437
Abstract: Automotive area networks (AAN) have a substantially fixed network topology, meaning that the physical media used for communications between devices included in the AAN is known. For example, the physical connections within an AAN, sometimes provided by wiring harnesses, can include fixed lengths of twisted pairs of wire (“twisted pairs”). Pre-compensation parameters related to characteristics of the twisted pairs can be determined at the factory, and loaded into the memory of devices connected to the AAN. These pre-compensation parameters are used to improve the fast wake up and link acquisition times of connected devices. Various characteristics of the physical communication channel are measured or estimated as a function of mechanical, ingress, climactic, and environmental variations (MICE), and used to update the pre-compensation parameters.
