  • Publication number: 20110243127
Abstract: A signal processing system which discriminates between voice signals and data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier. The signal processing system includes a voice exchange, a data exchange and a call discriminator. The voice exchange is capable of exchanging voice signals between a switched circuit network and a packet based network. The signal processing system also includes a data exchange capable of exchanging data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier on the switched circuit network with unmodulated data signal packets on the packet based network. The data exchange is performed by demodulating data signals from the switched circuit network for transmission on the packet based network, and modulating data signal packets from the packet based network for transmission on the switched circuit network. The call discriminator is used to selectively enable the voice exchange and data exchange.

  • Publication number: 20110242927
Abstract: Decoder circuits capable of decoding encoded ROM memory are provided. Embodiments provide several improvements over prior solutions which rely primarily on CMOS logic (e.g., inverters). For example, embodiments provide faster decoding by limiting the number of decoding stages to a single stage. Further, embodiments allow the use of partial swing (as opposed to full swing) on the bit lines, which results in significant power reduction. This, in turn, results in reduced amounts of capacitor discharges when reading the data.

  • Patent number: 8031506
Abstract: A disclosed embodiment is a programmable memory cell having improved IV characteristics comprising a thick oxide spacer transistor interposed between a programmable thin oxide antifuse and a thick oxide access transistor. The spacer transistor separates a rupture site formed during programming the programmable antifuse from the access transistor, so as to result in the improved IV characteristics. The programmable antifuse is proximate to one side of the spacer transistor, while the access transistor is proximate to an opposite side of the spacer transistor. The source region of the access transistor is coupled to ground, and the drain region of the access transistor also serves as the source region of the spacer transistor. The access transistor is coupled to a row line, while the spacer transistor and the programmable antifuse are coupled to a column line. The rupture site is formed during programming by applying a programming voltage to the programmable antifuse.

  • Patent number: 8031952
Abstract: A method and digital camera avoiding the use of delay lines for block processing within the camera, such as compressing images, demosaicing, or the like. Processing is done for a block comprising a single newly received line, together with previously acquired information. In one preferred embodiment, the block processing is performed for the single line using previous lines as retrieved from the results of previous processing. In another embodiment, the processing results for the current block are determined by the processing results of the previous block together with the newly received line. Saving delay lines provides for lower memory requirements, and enables the production of smaller and lower cost cameras.

  • Patent number: 8032727
Abstract: Methods and systems for processing multi-stage programming (MSP) bits within one-time-programmable (OTP) memory are disclosed herein. Aspects of the method may comprise determining whether at least one MSP memory bit in the OTP memory is programmed and whether a register bit associated with said at least one MSP memory bit is asserted. If the register bit is deasserted and the MSP memory bit is unprogrammed, the MSP memory bit may be programmed. The register bit in the OTP memory may be associated with the MSP memory bit. The MSP memory bit may be programmed to logic zero or logic one. If the register bit associated with the MSP memory bit is asserted, programming of the MSP memory bit may be blocked. The register bit associated with the MSP memory bit may be reset and it may be determined whether the MSP memory bit is accessed.

  • Patent number: 8032104
Abstract: A radio frequency (RF) transceiver includes an RF transmitter that generates an outbound RF signal at a carrier frequency that is based on a transmitter local oscillation. An RF front-end receives an inbound RF signal that includes a desired signal component that is based on the outbound RF signal and that includes an undesired signal component. The RF front-end includes a first RF combiner module that attenuates the undesired signal component to produce a desired RF signal. A down conversion module generates a down converted signal from the desired RF signal based on a receiver local oscillation. A receiver processing module generates inbound data from the down converted signal. A frequency control module controls the carrier frequency, based on an interference rejection signal, to control the attenuation of the undesired signal component.

  • Patent number: 8031121
Abstract: An apparatus includes a transmitter and a receiver device, which includes a receiver section and a processing module. The transmitter transmits a high carrier frequency signal. The receiver section includes first and second antennas that have an antenna radiation relationship for receiving the high carrier frequency signal. A receiver module of the receiver section determines first and second signal properties of the received high carrier frequency signal. The processing module determines a position of the receiver device with respect to the transmitter based on the first and second signal properties and maps the position to a coordinate system.

  • Patent number: 8032175
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for using a Bluetooth® PLL/LO to drive FM Transmit, FM Receive, Bluetooth, and NFC functions. A Bluetooth® PLL/LO may be utilized to generate Bluetooth® signal that comprise I and Q components for use in Bluetooth® communication. The Bluetooth® signals may then be utilized by a DDFS to generate FM radio I and Q signals for FM radio reception and/or transmission. The Bluetooth® signals may also be utilized by a second DDFS to generate signals for near field communication (NFC) transmission and/or reception. The Bluetooth® signals may be kept at the same frequency, or reduced in frequency, for use in clocking the DDFS. A frequency word may also be utilized to clock the DDFS. The outputs of each DDFS may be a constant frequency while the inputs to each DDFS may vary in frequency.

  • Patent number: 8032089
Abstract: A radio transceiver device includes circuitry for radiating electromagnetic signals at a very high radio frequency both through space, as well as through wave guides that are formed within a substrate material. In one embodiment, the substrate comprises a dielectric substrate formed within a board, for example, a printed circuit board. In another embodiment of the invention, the wave guide is formed within a die of an integrated circuit radio transceiver. A plurality of transceivers with different functionality is defined. Substrate transceivers are operable to transmit through the wave guides, while local transceivers are operable to produce very short range wireless transmissions through space. • Patent number: 8031760
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for reconfiguring a modem. In an embodiment, fast reconfiguration of a modem occurs when a first modem determines there is a need for fast reconfiguration. The first modem signals its transition from showtime to fast reconfiguration. The first modem waits for acknowledgement from a second modem before transitioning to showtime. Once transitioned from showtime, the first modem estimates a signal to noise ratio and then exchanges parameters with the second modem. The first and second modems then transition to showtime.

  • Patent number: 8032801
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating and performing digital communications using a randomized generatable interleaver. In accordance with one exemplary embodiment of the invention, a pseudo random interleaver of size n*m with excellent randomness and spread properties may be generated from a set of seed values. The interleaver of size N=n*m is defined by dividing the N possible address in the interleaver (0?N?1) into n subsets. The subsets are preferably generatable from a single value within the subset either using an algorithm or a memory based lookup table. The set of n seeds comprises one value selected from each subset. An improved communication system incorporating the aforementioned interleaver and using turbo codes or other concatenated coding systems is also disclosed.
