Abstract: Fully integrated compact cross-coupled low noise amplifier. A circuitry implementation that includes two pairs of metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) (either N-type of P-type) operates as an LNA, which can be used within any of a wide variety of communication devices. A majority of the elements are integrated within the design and need not be implemented off-chip, and this can provide for a reduction in area required by the circuitry. A differential 100? input impedance is provided by this design. A higher than typical power supply voltage can be employed (if desired) to accommodate one possible implementation that includes two parallel implemented resistors to ground.

  • Publication number: 20110143686
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) includes a baseband processing module and a radio frequency (RF) section. The baseband processing module is coupled to convert outbound data or an outbound voice signal into at least one of amplitude modulation information, phase modulation information, and frequency modulation information. The RF section includes an oscillation module, a frequency divider, and power amplifier modules. The oscillation module produces an RF oscillation that it modulates based on the phase or frequency modulation information to produce a modulated RF signal. The frequency divider divides the frequency of the modulated RF signal to produce a frequency divided modulated RF signal. The first power amplifier module amplifies the modulated RF signal in accordance with the amplitude modulation information or a constant to produce a first frequency band outbound RF data or voice signal.

  • Publication number: 20110141957
Abstract: A method for dropping lower priority packets for transmission over a wireless communication medium is provided. A central device receives one or more packets to be transferred to one or more data providers, each packet having a priority. Then, based on the priority, a media access controller stores each of the packets in one or more priority queues in a fixed shared memory space in such a way as to maintain the order in which the packets were received in each of the priority queues. The media access controller monitors the number of packets in each of the priority queues and signals an interrupt when a packet threshold is exceeded in one or more of the priority queues. The media access controller then drops lower priority packets in the fixed shared memory space based on the order received to guarantee that there is enough memory to store higher priority packets in the fixed shared memory space.

  • Publication number: 20110145606
Abstract: A system and method for implementing fairness in the powering of computing devices in a power over Ethernet (PoE) application. Power supplies in a power sourcing equipment are often oversubscribed. This oversubscription can lead to starvation of certain computing devices that have power requests that are not granted relative to competing requests. A fairness consideration can be implemented to ensure that starvation conditions are avoided.
