  • Publication number: 20110055663
Abstract: Address generation for contention-free memory mappings of turbo codes with ARP (almost regular permutation) interleaves. A novel means is presented by which anticipatory address generation is employed using an index function that is based on an address mapping which corresponds to an interleave inverse order of decoding processing (??1). In accordance with parallel turbo decoding processing, instead of performing the natural order phase decoding processing by accessing data elements from memory bank locations sequentially, the accessing of addresses is performed based on the index function that is based on an mapping and the interleave (?) employed within the turbo coding. In other words, the accessing data elements from memory bank locations is not sequential for natural order phase decoding processing. The index function also allows for the interleave (?) order phase decoding processing to be performed by accessing data elements from memory bank locations sequentially.

  • Publication number: 20110051957
Abstract: A system and method for discarding or inserting audio frames in a jitter buffer is described. The system and method provides improved audio quality as compared to conventional jitter buffer management systems. In one embodiment, buffer control logic determines whether to discard audio frames to be stored in a jitter buffer or to insert audio frames among audio frames to be output from a jitter buffer based not only on the number of audio frames currently stored in the jitter buffer but also based on the power of the current audio frame to be stored in or output from the jitter buffer. The system and method is generally applicable to any wireless or wired communication system in which audio signals are transmitted between entities operating in different clock domains.

  • Patent number: 7897967
Abstract: An anti-fuse device includes a substrate and laterally spaced source and drain regions formed in the substrate. A channel is formed between the source and drain regions. A gate and gate oxide are formed on the channel and lightly doped source and drain extension regions are formed in the channel. The lightly doped source and drain regions extend across the channel from the source and the drain regions, respectively, occupying a substantial portion of the channel. Programming of the anti-fuse is performed by application of power to the gate and at least one of the source region and the drain region to break-down the gate oxide, which minimizes resistance between the gate and the channel.

  • Patent number: 7900032
Abstract: Segmenting a boot code to allow separate and independent storage and validation of the segments in a manner that enable secure system boot by autonomous fetching and assembling of the boot code by a security sub-system. The code fetching may need to be done without the main CPU running on the chip for security reasons. Because the boot code may be stored in memory devices that require special software application to account for non-contiguous storage of data and/or code, for example a NAND flash memory which would require such an application as Bad Block Management, code segments stored in areas guaranteed to be usable may enable loading and validating remaining segment separately and independently.

  • Patent number: 7898418
Abstract: A receiver architecture for canceling blocking signals in the receive path includes a low noise amplifier for receiving and amplifying an inbound RF signal to produce an amplified inbound signal, in which the inbound RF signal includes a modulated RF signal and a blocking signal, and a cancellation module for substantially canceling the blocking signal from the amplified inbound RF signal and substantially passing the modulated RF signal. The cancellation module cancels the blocking signal by generating an injection signal representative of the blocking signal, combining the blocking signal with the injection signal to produce an error signal, updating the injection signal based on the error signal and using the injection signal to cancel the blocking signal from the amplified inbound RF signal.

  • Patent number: 7898967
Abstract: In a DOCSIS-based communications system, different upstream channel descriptors (UCDs) all identify a single logical upsteam channel identifier (UCID) regardless of the type of cable modem (CM) to which the UCDs are sent. Different CMs having different capabilities (e.g., CMs configured according to the different DOCSIS standards 1.x, 2.0, and 3.0) receive their respective UCDs from an upstream headend. All the UCDs, however, refer to the same logical upstream channel. The different CMs therefore share this single logical upstream channel.

  • Patent number: 7899409
Abstract: A transceiver is described that includes a power amplifier (PA), a low noise amplifier (LNA), and an impedance matching circuit having a first and second differential output node. The first and second differential output nodes are coupled to outputs of the PA and to inputs of the LNA. The impedance matching circuit provides a load impedance to the outputs of the PA. The transceiver further includes a first impedance device having an output impedance coupled between the first and second differential output nodes. In this way, the combination of the output impedance and the load impedance matches with an impedance at the inputs of the LNA.

  • Patent number: 7899421
Abstract: A method and system for a double search algorithm of user group selection for multiuser MIMO downlink transmission are provided. The use of optimal brute-force user group selection may require high computational expense. A first search operation may be based on a first user having a channel gain greater than that of other users, while a second search operation may be based on a second user having a channel gain greater than that of the remaining users. A maximized system capacity may be determined based on the maximized system capacities determined in the first and second search loop. A receiver pair associated with the maximized system capacity may be selected as the user group. The double search algorithm may reduce the computational complexity while achieving performances that may exceed the TDMA scheme and be similar to that of systems with ideal CSI at the transmitter.
