Patent number: 9209839Abstract: A method for an antenna mismatch compensation may include determining an amplitude ratio by measuring a ratio of amplitudes of a reflected signal and an incident signal of an antenna tuning circuit coupled to an antenna. A time difference between the reflected signal and the incident signal may be measured. The time difference may be converted to a phase difference. A topology and one or more parameters of the antenna tuning circuit may be determined based on the amplitude ratio and the phase difference so that the antenna tuning circuit compensates for the antenna mismatch.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2013Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Dmitriy Rozenblit, Tirdad Sowlati

Patent number: 9209816Abstract: Certain semiconductor processes provide for the use of multiple different types of transistors with different threshold voltages in a single IC. It can be shown that in certain ones of these semiconductor processes, the speed at which high threshold transistors can operate at decreases with decreasing temperature. Thus, the overall processing speed of an IC that implements high threshold transistors is often limited by the lowest temperature at which the IC is designed (or guaranteed) to properly function. Embodiments of a system and method that overcome this deficiency by “pre-heating” the IC (or at least portions of the IC that implement the high threshold transistors) such that the IC can operate at a frequency (once pre-heated) higher than what would otherwise be possible for a given, minimum temperature at which the IC is designed (or guaranteed) to properly function at are provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2013Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Paul Penzes, Mark Fullerton

Publication number: 20150349769Abstract: Various circuit techniques for implementing ultra high speed circuits use current-controlled CMOS (C3MOS) logic fabricated in conventional CMOS process technology. An entire family of logic elements including inverter/buffers, level shifters, NAND, NOR, XOR gates, latches, flip-flops and the like are implemented using C3MOS techniques. Optimum balance between power consumption and speed for each circuit application is achieve by combining high speed C3MOS logic with low power conventional CMOS logic. The combined C3MOS/CMOS logic allows greater integration of circuits such as high speed transceivers used in fiber optic communication systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2015Publication date: December 3, 2015Applicant: BROADCOM CORPORATIONInventor: Armond Hairapetian

Publication number: 20150350949Abstract: From a plurality of messages provided by at least a first license-exempt access node which give usage information for the at least one channel in license-exempt radio spectrum, there is derived channel-specific statistical traffic information. This information for the channel is then provided to a second access node that controls licensed radio spectrum. Or in another embodiment the second access node can get this information by sensing and measuring the channel itself. The second access node retrieves this information from its local memory and sends on the licensed radio spectrum a downlink message having contents, determined from the channel-specific statistical traffic information, for aiding a user equipment UE to access the channel with a probability defined by the contents. The UE receives this message, extracts the contents, and attempts to access that channel in the license-exempt radio spectrum utilizing the defined probability.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2012Publication date: December 3, 2015Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Haifeng WANG, Kari RIKKINEN, Ning ZHANG, Ting ZHOU, Jing XU, Wei ZOU, Zhenhong LI, Jinling DU

Publication number: 20150349860Abstract: Differential feedback within multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. After full feedback signal(s) have been received by a communication device (e.g., one that is to be performing beamforming for use in subsequent signal transmission), differential feedback signal(s) are received. Those differential feedback signal(s) are employed to update the full feedback signal(s) thereby generating updated/modified full feedback signals. Over time, such updated/modified full feedback signals may subsequently be further updated based upon later received inferential feedback signal(s). Such differential feedback signaling takes advantage of time and/or frequency correlation in a communication channel to provide for reduced feedback overhead by feeding back a difference or delta (?) relative to a previous value. For example, instead of providing full feedback signals in each respective/successive communication, feedback overhead is reduced by providing a difference or delta (?).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2015Publication date: December 3, 2015Applicant: BROADCOM CORPORATIONInventors: Ron Porat, Matthew James Fischer, Eric J.
