  • Patent number: 6588478
Abstract: The machine comprises a working station (P) and a fixed bed (10) disposed to the rear side of the working station (P). For rotating a wheel (20) there is provided a unit which is carried by a support bracket (30) connected to the fixed bed (10) in such a manner as to be able to swivel about a horizontal axis (A) passing through the working station (P), and comprises, for rigidly locking the wheel rim, a motorized mandrel (32) disposed with its axis (B) perpendicular to and cutting or nearly cutting the swivel axis (A), so that the tire of the wheel (20) carried by the mandrel (32) is traversed, in a virtually central position, by the swivel axis (A) of the support bracket (30). The machine also comprises means (12) for swivelling the support bracket (30) between two operative positions, in the first of which the axis of rotation (B) of the wheel is disposed in a horizontal position, and in the second of which the axis of rotation (B) of the wheel is disposed in a vertical position.

  • Patent number: 6569001
Abstract: The invention relates to a power tool, in particular to an angle grinder, having a quick clamping device for fastening of a tool between a clamping flange and a counter flange. Such quick clamping devices are usually equipped with an actuation element, during the transfer of which from a clamping position into a release position the clamping is neutralized. In the quick clamping device according to the invention, the actuation element returns, on its own, and in a controlled way, when in the release position and, by accident, the motor of the power tool is turned on. For that purpose, an eccentric being mounted on the actuation element acts with its running surface onto a cam in such a way that it retains the eccentric due to the frictional force acting between the cam and the running surface.

  • Patent number: 6567754
Abstract: This qualifier uses multiple thresholds and multiple timers to perform its operations. This assembly qualifier is a counting apparatus that monitors either the pressure of an air tool, the current of an electrical tool or the torque of a mechanical wrench to determine if the tool has shutoff at a target torque. The qualifier also determines if some unknown means shuts off the tool. For example, the system detects proper fastening, nuisance trips, double hits, fasteners that are too short, fasteners that are too long, the use of non-use of washers, effective or non-effective pulsing and proper clutch shut off.

  • Patent number: 6554356
Abstract: The frame of a crash resistant school bus seat is designed to undergo plastic flow when an impact is applied to the back rest portion of the seat. One or more stopping mechanisms are provided to retard movement of the back rest farther than a predetermined limit, thereby keeping a passenger in an upright position in the seat as a result of a crash. The frame is made from inexpensive, off-the-shelf metal tube and sheet stock and hence is inexpensive to design and build.

  • Patent number: 6491982
Abstract: An apparatus and related process for immersing a moving wire within a both of molten metal is applicable to wire forming processes. A flat-bottomed tray has at one end a nozzle for dispersing molten metal across the floor of the tray, from a first end to a second end, in a sheetlike flow. The nozzle preferably includes a slot-like opening, and is associated with a chamber for receiving a supply of pressurized molten metal for discharge through the slot. The metal is discharged with sufficient velocity to create a hydraulic jump or standing wave, whereby the crest of the wave is elevated above the tray end walls. Within the wave, molten metal experiences a turbulent flow in a direction against the travel of the wire array. The wire array passes through the wave, thereby experiencing immersion while being drawn through the apparatus in a straight path without substantial declination.

  • Patent number: 6489753
Abstract: A system and method for protecting against battery overcharging is used with an automotive electrical system having an alternator that supplies an output voltage VOUT to a string of at least first and second series-connected rechargeable batteries, an equalizer coupled to at least the first and second batteries, and at least a higher voltage load or a lower voltage load connected across respective sets of batteries of the string. The voltage VOUT is regulated to a target value VTARGET, and this target value VTARGET is reduced when either the voltage V1 across the first battery exceeds a first threshold value T1 or when a voltage V2 across the second battery exceeds a second threshold value T2. In this way, both of the batteries are protected against over-voltage conditions. A warning signal is illuminated to indicate to a user when either of the batteries is outside of its normal operating range.

  • Patent number: 6470772
Abstract: A new saw blade and a method of manufacturing such a saw blade are disclosed. The saw blade is made from a hardenable steel sheet in one piece and comprises a plain cutting blade from which a cranked mounting part, having a central mounting opening, protrudes. To manufacture such saw blades, blanks are cut out from a hardenable steel sheet and subsequently deep-drawn to provide the cranked mounting part. The mounting openings may be produced by stamping, thereafter. A plurality of such blanks is stacked over each other and clamped in a fixture, subsequently annealed for recrystallization and austenization and quenched thereafter, to harden the blanks. Finally, saw teeth are provided along the outer edges of the cutting blades.

  • Patent number: 6452363
Abstract: A charge equalizer for a string of series-connected batteries includes a shunt path for each of the batteries. The equalizer measures the voltage of each of the batteries of the string and then closes a switch in the shunt path associated with the highest voltage battery for a predetermined time. Then the switches of all of the shunt paths are opened and the cycle repeats. In this way, charging is equalized in the batteries of the string, regardless of whether or not any of the batteries of the string is in an over charged condition.

Abstract: The invention describes a cutting knife for a cutting tool for cutting through adhesive beads on glass panes of vehicles, having a cross section that is bent into a U-shape and comprises a first limb, configured as the attachment part, with a receiving opening for attachment to an oscillating drive, and a second limb that is configured as the cutting part and is joined via an intermediate part to the attachment part of the cutting knife, the intermediate part and the cutting part being shaped such that a distance exists in the radial direction between the center point of the receiving opening and at least one cutting edge. The cutting part has, in a middle region between its outer free end and its angled transition to the intermediate part, a lesser width than at the transition and at the outer end. This results in a reduced susceptibility to breakage.
