Abstract: In a method and a device for testing a test substrate under defined thermal conditions, a substrate that is to be tested is held by a temperature-controllable chuck and is set to a defined temperature; the test substrate is positioned relative to test probes by at least one positioning device; and the test probes make contact with the test substrate for testing purposes. At least one component of the positioning device that is present in the vicinity of the temperature-controlled test substrate is set to a temperature that is independent of the temperature of the test substrate by a temperature-controlling device, and this temperature is held constant.

Abstract: The invention provides a system for preparing an autologous solid-fibrin web suitable for regenerating tissue in a living organism. The system includes a sealed primary container containing a separation medium and a low-density high-viscosity liquid. The separation medium is capable of separating red blood cells from plasma when the container contains blood and is centrifuged, and the primary container has a first pressure. The system further includes a sealed secondary container containing a calcium-coagulation activator. The secondary container has a second pressure that is less than the first pressure. The system also includes a transfer device having a cannula with a first end and a second end. The first and second ends are adapted to puncture the sealed primary and secondary containers in order to provide fluid communication between the first and second containers.
Abstract: Systems and methods for non-contact and/or wireless transmission of power and/or data between and/or within electronic devices. These systems and methods may include the use of two or more wireless power modules to transmit a wireless power signal between a first electronic device and a second electronic device and/or the use of two or more wireless data modules to transmit a wireless data signal between the first electronic device and the second electronic device. The wireless power modules and/or the wireless data modules may include one or more near-field coupling devices. The wireless power modules and/or wireless data modules associated with the first electronic device may be arranged in complementary locations to the wireless power modules and/or wireless data modules associated with the second electronic device and the complementary modules may be separated by a distance of less than 10 um.
Abstract: This document provides methods and materials for assessing RNA expression. For example, methods and materials for detecting the presence, absence, or amount of target nucleic acid (e.g., target RNA or target cDNA produced from target RNA), kits for detecting the presence, absence, or amount of target nucleic acid (e.g., target RNA or target cDNA produced from target RNA), and methods for making such kits are provided.

Abstract: A substrate, preferably constructed of a ductile material and a tool having the desired shape of the resulting device for contacting contact pads on a test device is brought into contact with the substrate. The tool is preferably constructed of a material that is harder than the substrate so that a depression can be readily made therein. A dielectric (insulative) layer, that is preferably patterned, is supported by the substrate. A conductive material is located within the depressions and then preferably lapped to remove excess from the top surface of the dielectric layer and to provide a flat overall surface. A trace is patterned on the dielectric layer and the conductive material. A polyimide layer is then preferably patterned over the entire surface. The substrate is then removed by any suitable process.

Abstract: A wheel assembly that may be installed on, and removed from, an axle without the need for tools. The wheel assembly includes a wheel, at least one clip supported by the wheel, and a cover securing the clip in position. The wheel assembly is mountable on an axle including a circumferential groove and is retained on the axle by the extension of the clip into the groove. The clip includes an actuator arm extending away from the plane of the wheel so as to be readily accessible for actuation by one's fingers. Actuation of the arm withdraws the clip from the groove to release the wheel from the axle. Preferably two clips are provided diametrically opposite one another, enabling both arms to be actuated simultaneously in a pinching operation.

Abstract: A waste cart includes a container having first and second wall portions, and first and second openings defined by the wall portions to receive and support a grab bar. The container includes at least one positioning element to constrain the lateral movement of the grab bar. During assembly, the first end of the grab bar is inserted through the opening in the first sidewall, and the grab bar is pivoted to align the grab bar with the opening in the second sidewall. During the pivoting of the grab bar, the first positioning element is deformed. The second end of the grab bar is inserted into the opening in the second sidewall, allowing the first positioning element to snap back to its original, non-deformed orientation. When the grab bar is installed, the positioning elements are positioned at the outer ends of the grab bar.

Abstract: The invention is directed to articles, systems and methods for transforming inflatable bodies such as sleeping mattresses/pads into structures capable of functioning as elevated, ground supported seating surfaces. Article embodiments preferably include first end and second ends, characterized as solid or foraminous flexible panels and/or strap-like webbing each preferably having a peripheral compression portion, each positioned proximate to respective first and second edge portions of a cylindrically involuted inflatable mattress by compressively restraining differential axial displacement between adjacent major edge portions and overall radial expansion thereof. At least one linking portion links the first end to the second end, and preferably is adjustable to accommodate cylindrical mattresses of disparate widths. The ends may further include padding and/or enhanced water repellancy.
