  • Patent number: 5055859
Abstract: Disclosed is a thermal print head in which heating resistance elements are arranged with high density. The thermal print head comprises a head substrate, formed of a single-crystal silicon wafer, and a print driver circuit element. The print driver circuit element, which is formed by doping the head substrate directly with an impurity, is composed of an MOS FET. A FET used to form the single-crystal silicon substrate has high electrical mobility, and serves to improve the operating speed of the thermal print head. Each heating resistance element, whose base material is polycrystalline silicon, is adjusted to a predetermined resistance value by being subjected to diffusion of an impurity. The resistance elements are formed on a protuberance which is formed on the head substrate. Thus, the portion of an insulating protective film which corresponds to the protuberance projects outward from the rest, thereby ensuring contact with a printing sheet.

  • Patent number: 5052267
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a chord progression by connecting or chaining chord patterns. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus includes as a source of musical knowledge, a database of musical structure of various music pieces and a database of chord patterns. In operation, from the musical structure database, a multi-leveled structural feature of a music piece is selected and determined level by level, either automatically, semi-automatically, or manually, through a dialogue conducted between the apparatus and the user. Thereafter, chord patterns are chosen one at a time from the chord pattern database in a similar dialogue manner. A concatenating module controls the concatenation of the chosen chord patterns to be commensurate with the characteristic musical structure previously determined, thereby to provide a chord progression with musicality, naturalness and well-balanced unity and variety.

  • Patent number: 5049244
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of manufacturing a double-sided wiring substrate wherein fine wiring patterns having a low resistivity are formed on both surfaces of a substrate. An insulating substrate having upper, lower, and side surfaces is prepared. The inner wall of a through hole formed in the insulating substrate or a side edge portion of the substrate is used as the side surface. A thin metal film is formed on the entire surface of the insulating substrate including its side surface by a deposition. The insulating film is covered with a resist film except for a wiring pattern region to be formed, and plating is performed. When the resist film is removed, the thin metal film is exposed outside the wiring patterns formed by the thick metal film. Etching is performed for a short period of time to remove a surface layer of the thick metal film and exposed region of the thin metal film.

  • Patent number: 5050216
Abstract: An input waveform signal is converted in an A/D converter into a digital signal to be written in a waveform memory under control of a tone generation control unit. The written digital signal is read out from the waveform memory with a designated delay time. The input waveform signal and the digital signal read out from the waveform memory are converted in a D/A converter into analog signals which are fed through VCFs and VCAs so as to be sounded. Further, in the above arrangement the timbre and tone volume controls are done independently for the individual waveform read/write channels through VCFs 12a to 12d and VCAs 13a to 13d. Thus, it is possible to obtain a further effected sound.

  • Patent number: 5048391
Abstract: A vibration of a string is picked up by a pickup to be converted to an electric signal. A pitch extracting circuit obtains pitch data expressing a pitch or a duration of the string vibration from the electric signal. A musical tone generating circuit generates a musical tone having a corresponding tone pitch in accordance with the pitch data. An envelope extracting circuit extracts an envelope from the electric signal detected by the pickup and supplies a signal expressing the envelope to a multiplier. Furthermore, a signal expressing the musical tone is supplied to the multiplier to be multiplied by the signal expressing the envelope. Thus a musical tone having a controlled envelope determined by the extracted envelope is generated.

  • Patent number: 5044251
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument can execute a musical performance with two timbres mixed together by operating a single key, for example. Of the two timbres, a master timbre is set in normal mode and is stored in a first memory, while a slave timbre is selected in tone mix mode and is stored in a second memory. Each timbre can be altered as desired. To alter the master timbre, timbre switches are operated after the mode is temporarily changed to normal mode. To alter the slave timbre, the timbre switches are operated in tone mix mode. When the tone mix mode is set, this electronic musical instrument can permit a player to easily alter tone parameters such as the volume, pitch and attack delay time of each timbre.
