Abstract: The invention relates to a sulfur-crosslinkable rubber mixture, especially for the sidewall of pneumatic vehicle tires, and to a pneumatic vehicle tire whose sidewall consists at least partly of the sulfur-crosslinked rubber mixture. For reduced hysteresis, hence leading to low rolling resistance when used as a sidewall mixture, the rubber mixture comprises 20 to 80 phr of natural rubber and/or synthetic polyisoprene, 20 to 80 phr of at least one polybutadiene functionalized for attachment to silica and 20 to 50 phr of at least one silica with a CTAB surface area (to ASTM D 3765) of 50 to 130 m2/g and a nitrogen surface area (BET surface area) (to DIN ISO 9277 and DIN 66132) of 60 to 140 m2/g.

  • Patent number: 10118357
Abstract: A holder is for arranging a foil on the mold surface of a sidewall shell of a vulcanizing mold. The holder has a sleeve which can be pressed into a bore in the sidewall shell and, arranged in the sleeve, a helically-spring-mounted, coaxially movable pin. The pin has a pin head which, in an initial position, projects beyond an end of the sleeve with the force of the spring and on which a foil can be positioned on the mold surface. The pin, in an end position, is movable into the sleeve counter to the force of the spring such that the pin head end remote from the pin is aligned with the end of the sleeve. The pin head forms a clearance fit with the sleeve. The clearance fit is such that the pin is movable in the sleeve but no rubber material can ingress into the sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20180312015
Abstract: The invention relates to a pneumatic vehicle tire of a radial type of construction with a carcass (1) and a carcass turn-up (1a), wherein the carcass (1) and also the sidewall (5) consist of rubber compounds that are insufficiently electrically conductive, while the bead strip (7) consists of a rubber compound that is electrically conductive, and wherein at least the outer surface of the carcass (1) has electrically conductive, filament- or strip-shaped elements (12), which in the carcass turn-up (1a) lie radially on the inside. The invention is distinguished by the fact that an additional, electrically conductive component (9), which establishes a path of electrical conduction either from the one outer surface of the carcass (1) or from the inner surface of the carcass turn-up (1a) to the outer surface of the carcass turn-up (1a), is arranged on the end of the carcass turn-up (10).

  • Publication number: 20180290505
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire of a radial type of construction with a profiled tread (1), sidewalls (3), bead regions (2) and an airtight inner layer (4), which forms the inner side (4a) facing the interior space of the pneumatic vehicle tire, ribs (6) being formed on the inner layer (4), having been imprinted in it by a heating bladder introduced into the interior of the tire during the vulcanizing of the pneumatic vehicle tire in a tire heating mold, and a sound absorber (5) being provided so as to extend in an annular manner on a circumferential region (4b) of the inner side (4a) opposite from the tread (1). Grooves (7) have been formed by the heating bladder at least in a partial region of the circumferential region (4b) of the inner layer (4a) on which the sound absorber (5) is provided.

  • Patent number: 10071604
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire has a carcass with at least one carcass ply. The surface of the carcass ply has an overlay made of an electrically conductive rubber mixture. The overlay extends continuously from an electrically conductive bead base to a superstructure and contacts the superstructure. A method for making a pneumatic vehicle tire includes the steps of making a carcass ply, covering a surface of the carcass ply with a continuous overlay made of an electrically conductive rubber mixture. The overlay contacts an electrically conductive bead base and the superstructure in the finished pneumatic vehicle tire.
