Abstract: Fiber optic connectors and connectorized fiber optic cables include connector housings having locking portions defined on the connector housing that allow the connector housing to be selectively coupled to a corresponding push-button securing member of a multiport assembly. Methods for selectively connecting a fiber optic connector to, and disconnecting the fiber optic connector from the multiport assemblies allow for connector housings to be forcibly and nondestructively removed from the multiport assembly.

Abstract: Techniques for screening homopolymers, copolymers or blends for fabrication are disclosed. A data repository stores data points. Each data point comprises a structural repeating unit (SRU) and at least one material property value for the SRU. Each SRU is a homopolymer SRU, a copolymer component SRU or a blend component SRU. A machine determines a fingerprint for at least a subset of the SRUs in the data repository. The machine stores, in the data repository, each determined fingerprint in conjunction with a corresponding SRU. The machine generates a quantitative modeling engine to predict material property values, based on SRUs, for homopolymers, copolymers or blends. The quantitative modeling engine is based, at least in part, on the fingerprints. The machine identifies, using the quantitative modeling engine, at least one homopolymer SRU, copolymer SRU set or blend SRU set that has a material property value within a given range.

Abstract: A fiber bulge (“bulge”) formed in an end of an optical fiber for positioning the optical fiber in a ferrule bore is disclosed. An energy source is controlled to direct focused energy to the end of the optical fiber extended from the front end face of the ferrule to expose and melt the end of the optical fiber into a bulge of desired geometry and size. The bulge comprises a cross-sectional region having an outer surface having a minimum outer diameter larger than the inner diameter of the ferrule bore. Thus, the optical fiber may be pulled back in the ferrule bore such that at least a portion of the outer surface of the interface region of the bulge interferes with and engages the front opening of the ferrule bore to position the fiber core within the ferrule bore.

In some embodiments, the concentration of metal oxide or alkali metal oxide decreases from the first surface to a point between the first surface and the second surface and increases from the point to the second surface. The concentration of the metal oxide may be about 0.05 mol % or greater or about 0.

Abstract: Systems and methods for performance evaluations in distributed antenna systems (DAS) allow certain ones of remote radio units (RRUs) (note that the RRUs may also be referred to as a remote antenna unit (RAU)) within a DAS to emulate user equipment and send test signals to other RRUs. The other RRUs may report these signals to a management device for analysis and determination as to whether service of a desired level is provided. Further, the emulator RRU may also receive test signals from the other RRUs and report such signals to the management device for evaluation. Based on these evaluations, the adequacy of the placement of the RRUs relative to a desired standard may be determined and adjustments recommended.
Abstract: A distributed radio access network (RAN) is provided. A selected wireless transceiver node(s) in a selected coverage cell receives a radio frequency (RF) test signal(s). The selected wireless transceiver node(s) determines an effective gain value based on a predefined characteristic of the RF test signal(s). The selected wireless transceiver node(s) communicates the effective gain value and other related parameters to a server apparatus in the distributed RAN. The server apparatus determines a common gain value for the selected wireless transceiver node(s) in the selected coverage cell based on the parameters. Accordingly, the selected wireless transceiver node(s) operates based on the common gain value.

Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically selecting energy detection thresholds (EDTs) in radio nodes deploying listen before talk within a coordinated network to improve throughput on shared spectrum are disclosed. The radio nodes are configured to coordinate to deploy mechanisms to avoid or reduce interference issues, including collisions, with use of shared spectrum (e.g., unlicensed spectrum). One such mechanism is Listen Before Talk (LBT), and a radio node deploying LBT sets an EDT at which the radio node hears traffic from neighboring radio nodes on the shared spectrum. In an exemplary aspect, the EDT of radio nodes in the coordinated network of radio nodes can be dynamically selected and/or adjusted to improve throughput of the individual radio nodes and/or of the network of radio nodes as a whole.
