Abstract: In brief, the present invention is directed to a method for conditioning hair which comprises:(a) applying to hair a leave-on composition comprising:(1) a nonvolatile, silicone conditioning agent;(2) a resin; and(3) a carrier;(b) applying heat via a heating appliance to the composition treated hair to dry or style the hair and wherein a reduction in the bending modulus caused by the silicone conditioning agent is at least 1.00%, even when offset by an increase in bending modulus caused by the presence of a resin, and wherein the method of the invention results in the deposition on the hair of at least 30 ug silicone/1 g of hair.

Abstract: A transparent leave-on hair treatment composition including capsules of a water insoluble hair-treating compound encased in a shell material, such as gelatin or acacia gum. The aqueous leave-on composition is applied to the hair and the water insoluble hair-treating compound is released from the capsules to treat the hair. The shell disintegrates into sufficiently small residual particles such that the physical and esthetic properties of the hair, like shine and combability, are retained.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a low residue antiperspirant composition substantially free of water and long chain fatty alcohols which comprises:(a) from about 30% to about 50% of a volatile silicone;(b) from about 5% to about 30% of a particulate antiperspirant active;(c) from about 2% to about 12% of hydrogenated castor oil;(d) from about 8% to about 28% of paraffin; and(e) from about 10% to about 25% of an emollient;wherein the ratio of the paraffin to hydrogenated castor oil is from about 6 to 1 to about 0.85 to 1.

The multiple emulsion compositions comprise an external aqueous phase optionally incorporating an emulsifier and/or a second topically-active compound. The internal phase comprises a primary water-in-oil emulsion, wherein the primary emulsion comprises a first topically-active compound, a surfactant phase, an oil phase, and water.

Abstract: A mild wave and hair styling reducing agent-containing composition and method of bodifying, styling, or permanently waving or straightening human hair that provides a strong, long lasting curl, or long lasting straight hair formation, while minimizing hair damage. The composition includes two ionic compounds, one cationic and the other anionic, that complex in solution over a molar ratio of cationic compound to anionic compound in the range of about 1:1.2 to about 1.2:1, preferably in the range of about 1:1.1 to about 1.1:1, to provide synergy in waving efficiency, thereby providing a strongly reconfigured hair configuration (curled or straightened). At least one of the ionic compounds functions as a reducing agent for hair, capable of breaking the disulfide bonds in the hair so that the bonds later can be reformed via oxidation, when the hair is in the desired configuration.

Abstract: A hair spray composition comprising:(a) about 0.25% to about 6% by weight of a carboxylated polyurethane resin;(b) 0% to about 80% by weight of an alcohol; and(c) about 15% to about 95% by weight water,wherein the carboxylated polyurethane resin has a weight average molecular weight of about 15,000 to about 150,000, and is a reaction product of a mixture comprising:(i) about 10% to about 90% by weight of the mixture of a polyoxyalkylene diol having a number average molecular weight of about 400 to about 20,000;(ii) about 0.01% to about 20% by weight of the mixture of an alkylene glycol;(iii) about 3% to about 80% by weight of the mixture of an organic diisocyanate;(iv) about 0.1% to about 30% by weight of the mixture of a 2,2-di (hydroxymethyl)-alkanoic acid; and(v) about 0.001% to about 0.95% by weight of the mixture of water, wherein a ratio of isocyanate groups to hydroxyl groups is about 0.4 to about 1.1.

Abstract: The invention provides hair styling compositions in cream, gel or aerosol mousse form comprising:(i) from 0.1% to 10% by weight, based on total weight, of a non-rigid emulsion polymerised cross-linked silicone polymer, in which the percentage of branched monomer units in the silicone polymer is from 0.05% to 10%; (ii) from 0.1% to 10% by weight, based on total weight, of a hair styling polymer; (iii) from 0.01% to 1% by weight, based on total weight, of a surfactant; (iv) water; and (v) from 0% to 30% by weight, based on total weight, of an aerosol propellant. The compositions impart an excellent balance of styling and conditioning properties to the hair.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an aqueous hair dressing or hair styling composition which comprises from about 1.5 to about 5.0 weight % polyquaternium 37/propylene glycol dicaprylate dicaprate and ppg-1 trideceth-6, also known as polyquat 37, and also known as Salcare 96. The compositions of the invention have good hair styling and manageability properties without tackiness.

The orthodontic spring system includes one or more orthodontic spring devices that may actively grip a fixed orthodontic appliance during use for enhanced delivery of aligning forces and tooth/root control. The orthodontic spring devices may include two or more spring segments for applying tooth aligning forces in transverse directions. Additionally, the orthodontic springs may include one or more bends to provide for deflection of adjacent springs portions, twisting, wherein the orthodontic spring devices may be used to apply alignment forces in three different planes.
