Abstract: A process is provided for the production of a vegetable-based sweetened condensed milk in which a vegetable protein in the form of an aqueous solution or suspension is subjected to partial enzymatic hydrolysis and a mixture containing approximately 4 to 9 parts by weight of fats, 8 to 18 parts by weight of the treated protein, 0 to 14 parts by weight of lactose, 40 to 55 parts by weight of sucrose and 25 to 32 parts by weight of water is prepared. Preferably the protein is subjected to an acetylation treatment before the mixture is prepared. The enzyme may be a microbial protease and the enzyme treatment is preferably carried out over a period of from about 1 to 24 hours at a temperature from about 25.degree. to 65.degree. C and at a pH of about 2 to 9. The protein is preferably a protein of Leguminosae, especially soya, or a yeast protein.

Abstract: A process for extracting vegetable materials in the liquid phase in a group of cells, the "hot cells" containing the most exhausted vegetable material and the "cold cell(s)" the least exhausted vegetable material or fresh material, in which the extract is partially evaporated between the "hot cells" and the "cold cells", wherein extraction liquid is added to the partially evaporated extract in a quantity at least equal to the quantity of evaporated liquid.

Abstract: The following specification describes a circuit breaker trip crossbar having diverging radial surfaces receiving a tapered rail therebetween. The rail extends from the bottom edge of the conventional breaker barrier wall recess and forms a small area pivot adjacent the crossbar axis to reduce the torque required to pivot the bar and to render the torque reproducible for calibration purposes.The radial surfaces are economically formed by flat mold surfaces in opposite mold halves to avoid mold flash in the pivot area while enabling one of the mold halves to conventionally form the latch plate securing hole in the crossbar.

A particular manner of ring member intersection is employed to make the structure self-supporting and to enable the ring members to be positioned with respect to one another to provide other geometric configurations.

Abstract: A process and system for the segregation and separation of mixed office-paper-waste material which comprises: shredding the waste material to a uniform size; forming a fluidized bed of the shredded waste material in a vertical column by an upwardly flowing, high-volume, low-pressure air stream, to divide the material into distinct layers in the column; and separating and removing the layers from the column with lateral airflow.

Abstract: An apparatus is illustrated which is especially useful for cleaning the flats of a textile carding machine wherein a rotatable suction conduit has circumferentially spaced slots therein which are successively exposed in cleaning relation to successive flat or carding surfaces by means of a substantially imperforate flexible cover sheet extending about the rotatable suction conduit, being fixed on one end so that the cover extends as a shroud preferably extending in the direction of rotation of the conduit away from the fixed end so as to leave an opening between opposed ends of the shroud. The shroud covers the slots rendering them inactive so that only that slot portion between opposed ends of the shroud actively exert suction. Thus, the suction is concentrated at a specific area, between the ends of the cover, adjacent a limited portion of a flat while permitting rotation of the suction conduit without buildup of excessive lint accumulation as to interfere with the operation of the conduit.

It consists particularly in using a production platform of the type articulated to a base, and which comprises a gas and oil separator while being combined with a flare located at a suitable distance from the axis of the platform, this flare being carried by a floating support turning into the wind, while being connected by at least one arm hinged to rotatable head of the platform. The invention comprises also different arrangements relative to the connection between a drilling platform and a storage and loading platform.

Abstract: The invention relates to platforms of the off-shore type. It consists principally in arranging the base of the platform in the form of an elongated reservoir able to float and of a sufficient length to serve as a support for a column during transport to the anchoring point. For positioning the reservoir-base on the sea-bed, the reservoir is first of all tilted under the effect of ballasting until one of the ends of the reservoir touches the sea-bed. Then the column is released to assume its vertical position by way of floats connected thereto; and the operation is completed by ballasting to bring the reservoir-base to a horizontal position on the sea-bed.

Abstract: A tachometer comprises a pick-up for rotational speed of a phonic wheel and magneto-electrical transducer and means for measuring the frequency of the alternating current which is delivered from the transducer. The tachometer comprises means for measuring the frequency and power supply means which are connected to the output of the transducer. Such a tachometer is useful as a control system for controlling the functioning of motors especially aeronautic motors.

Abstract: An artists' water color paper stretcher and holder receives wet water color painting paper and similar materials to hold the paper and thereby to cause its stretching during drying, and thereafter to continue holding the paper during the artists' water color painting. This stretcher and holder is a flat top surfaced structure having grooves around its perimeter to receive wedges. Water color painting paper, when wet, is placed over the flat top surfaced structure and extended beyond the perimeter grooves. Thereafter the perimeter wedges are pressed into the perimeter grooves carrying the wet water color paper edges into the grooves, thereby snugly fitting the water color paper to the flat surface of the artists' water color paper stretcher and holder.

Abstract: The present invention is a system for controlling astigmatism during cataract surgery in which a microscope, having an eyepiece, a tube and an objective lens and having a magnification power of 100 times, is used which includes a length of suture material which is adapted to close a corneal incision and which is cylindrically shaped. The length of suture material has a plurality of parallel lines, which are spaced equally at very close distances in the range of 5,000 to 20,000 lines per inch and which are disposed orthogonally to the longitudinal axis on the cylindrical surface of said length of suture material. When the strain in the length of suture material is in the range of 0.1 percent to 10.0 percent, a reticule is disposed in the microscope adjacent to the objective lens thereof.

Abstract: New polythiols-polyesters and corresponding polysulphides in the --SH group wherein sulphur is contained in the alcohol residue after the formation of esters. These polyesters are derived from aliphatic polyacids, saturated or not, wherein the molecule contains a minimum of 15 atoms of carbon. They are formulated by the action of a mercapto-alcanol on the corresponding polyacid, in a liquid which gives an azeotropic mixture with water. These products are useful as additives to asphalts, bituminous products, coatings, mastics and cements.

Abstract: An annunciator to indicate the presence of a truck on a weighing platform to a weigh station operator is disclosed. The apparatus includes a presence sensor operable in response to the weight of the truck on the scales. The sensor provides a signal to a discriminator circuit which, depending upon the length of the signal from the presence sensor, determines whether the truck is merely passing over the scales or has stopped on the scales to be weighed. The discriminator produces an output causing a signaling device to operate and indicate to the operator of the weigh station that a truck is on the scales and is ready to be weighed.

Abstract: A light concrete prepared from a mixture of Portland cement, cellular aggregate, and an admixture including a melamine-formaldehyde condensate carrying sulfo groups for reducing the need for mixing water, an alkaline earth metal stearate as a water repelling material, and polyethyleneglycol has greater mechanical strength at lower density than an otherwise identical concrete containing only two ingredients of the admixture.

Abstract: An auxiliary chamber or ignition "prechamber" for afterburners of aeronautical turbine engines draws in, through a perforated plate, a carbureted mixture produced by fuel projected against an anvil by an injection manifold, and the injection manifold also issues a jet of fuel into a tube which discharges into the chamber downstream of a spark plug. The produced flame is guided into a flame stabilizer.
