Abstract: Disclosed is a method for diagnosing allergy in a human or animal patient, wherein the level of species-specific lipocalin, especially lipocalin 2 in a human patient, is measured in a sample of said patient and wherein a lowered level of said lipocalin compared to the level of said lipocalin in the corresponding sample of a human or animal that has no allergy, is indicative of an allergy, as well as a kit for performing this method, and a kit for quality control of allergen molecules or extracts used for immunotherapy of allergy by determining its siderophore-iron ligand load and thus immunomodulatory potency. Further, lipocalin proteins for use in treatment or prevention of allergies are provided, preferably complexed with siderophore-iron ligands.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing user interface elements using gestures are disclosed. In some implementations, a block representing a plurality of user interface elements is displayed on a touch screen of a device. A first gesture is initiated at a position corresponding to the block representing the plurality of the user interface elements is received via the touch screen. A first path corresponding to the first gesture is stored in a memory. At least a portion of the plurality of user interface elements are displayed on the touch screen in positions along the first path.
Abstract: A combination fishing pole holder and cleat has a bezel portion for affixing to a surface. The bezel portion has a first hole for accepting an object and a shaped indentation to accept and fit a cleat portion. The bezel portion has a pair of studs, each having a cavity formed there within. The cleat portion is shaped to fit within the shaped indentation and has a second hole, also for accepting the object. A pair of legs extends from the cleat portion and through respective studs. Each of the legs is terminated by a device/end that is wider than the cavity of the studs. A tubular portion extends from a side of the bezel and is aligned with both the first hole and the second hole for insertion of the object. The cleat portion moves between a retracted position and an extended position.

Abstract: An electronic device disclosed herein includes a current comparator to generate an output current based upon a difference between a current flowing in an output branch and a current flowing in an input branch. A pair of transistors is coupled to an output of the current comparator. A first amplifier has inputs coupled to the pair of transistors and to a reference voltage, the first amplifier being configured to subtract the reference voltage from a voltage across the pair of transistors and output a difference voltage. A second amplifier has inputs coupled to the difference voltage and to the reference voltage, the second amplifier being configured to subtract the difference voltage from the reference voltage and output a pulse skipping mode reference signal.

Abstract: A sensor for measuring conductivity of a fluid containing dissolved ions, particularly for measuring conductivity of salt water, features a cylindrical tube (57) of poorly conductive material such as glass, a first electrode (51A) and a second electrode (51B) inside the tube, connected together (56) to maintain a common electrical potential, a first transformer (52,53) concentrically arranged around the tube (57) to drive current through the fluid in the tube, and a second transformer (54, 55) arranged to sense a value of the current flowing in the fluid, and a digital processing circuit (62) coupled to receive an output signal of the second transformer, and to derive therefrom a value representing the conductivity of the fluid. The sensor is adapted to be towed behind a research ship, or to be deployed on an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) or the like. Current signals are preferably processed by digital switching measurement technology (dMST).
