The sliding bearing is formed of a first and a second semi-cylindrical bearing bodies combined to form a cylindrical body. The bearing housing has a cylindrical bearing retaining bore and is formed of a pair of housing halves. One of the housing halves has a lower stiffness, and the other has a higher stiffness. The first bearing body is held by the housing half having a lower stiffness. The second bearing body is held by the stiffer housing half.
