  • Patent number: 7481459
Abstract: The present invention concerns a steering shaft (4) of a steering column (1) and (4) for a motor vehicle steering assembly (2), wherein the steering shaft (4) includes a cylinder body (11) and a piston rod body (12) inserted telescopically therein, and on one end is connectible with a steering wheel (6) and at the other is connectible via a steering coupling (5) with a steering gear (7). The assembly of the steering shaft (4) can be simplified thereby, that the steering shaft (4) includes at least one (1) pneumatic connection (13), which communicates with a cylinder space (14), which is provided in the cylinder body (11) and which cylinder space is axially bordered from the piston rod body (12), in such a manner, that pressure actuation of the cylinder space (14) drives the piston rod body (12) to extend from the cylinder body (11).

  • Publication number: 20090021356
Abstract: In a method and in a device for detecting when the driver of a motor vehicle becomes tired, the tiredness is determined as a function of a detected steering inactivity phase and a subsequent steering action. In this context, the steering inactivity phase is logically combined with the steering actions and the logic combination is stored at various times. The logic combination is stored with an assigned weighting factor, and the weighting factor is determined as a function of a classification of a steering situation.

  • Patent number: 7478468
Abstract: In a method for the production of a rim hole in hollow profiles, a tubular piece is pushed into the hollow profile and placed there in such a way that it coaxially surrounds the location of the rim hole to be produced. The hollow profile is then acted upon from outside to inside at this location by a tool, with the rim hole being formed. In order to make possible a rim hole in hollow profiles in a relatively simple manner, this rim hole also satisfying high strength requirements even in the case of a small wall thickness of the hollow profile, it is proposed to first punch two opposite holes out of the hollow profile. At least one of these holes has a diameter which is smaller than that of the rim hole to be produced. The tubular piece is then inserted into the hollow profile interior, so that it comes to lie there coaxially to the common axis of the holes.

  • Patent number: 7479897
Abstract: In a method for preventing rollover for a vehicle traveling on a road, for each present position of the vehicle as it moves forward, its speed is forecasted for future positions of the vehicle on the road, based on an assumption regarding driving style of the operator, and based on a map containing road geometry data and statistical speed data for vehicles traveling said road. At each such present position of the vehicle, a maximum safe speed is determined for points on the road forward of the vehicle, based on a maximum lateral acceleration, the road geometry and the vehicle parameters. A rollover warning is generated for any current position of the vehicle at which the forecasted future speed for at least one particular point on the road forward of the vehicle exceeds the determined maximum safe speed at particular point.

  • Patent number: 7480545
Abstract: A method and a device are for detecting the initiation of the driving off process by a driver of a vehicle. The time derivatives of the engine torque and of the engine speed are determined, and the initiation of the driving off process is then inferred from an evaluation of these time derivative values. The detection of the driving off process can be used for releasing a brake while avoiding unintentional rolling of the vehicle when making a hill start.

  • Publication number: 20090015164
Abstract: A main beam switching arrangement for a road vehicle has a lighting device switchable over main beam and dipped headlamps. A sensor device determines at least one ambient parameter, and a control unit with an activatable and deactivatable automatic function automatically switches over the lighting device as a function of the ambient parameter. An operator control unit generates switchover signals by an operator to manually bring about switching over the lighting device with priority. In each case, at least one change of state of the automatic function can be brought about by a first switchover signal for switching on continuous operation of the main beam that is not occurring at the time of signal generation. By way of a second switchover signal, continuous operation of the main beam, which is occurring at the time of signal generation, is switched off.
